Hello everyone! We are a small nonprofit camp in central Maine that serves the local community from various socio-economic backgrounds. We typically look for the majority of help through the summer (June-August) but also welcome smaller numbers in the fall, winter, and spring! We are looking to create a community of staff who care for and support each other. We are seeking staff members in a variety of areas.
We are most often seeking kitchen workers! Kitchen work mostly involves simple food prep, dishes, and cleaning. Little to no experience is required, but a strong work ethic, ability to learn, and good listening skills are required :)
In addition to kitchen work, we have other types of work opportunities that may be available depending on the time frame including gardening, maintenance, cleaning, lifeguarding, counseling, etc.
We are located on more than 200 acres of forest land and offer a peaceful, natural setting. The camp borders Lower Narrows Pond and Lake Annabessacook. Located on the property are nature trails, a boat dock, and a swimming area, along with many cabins, a theatre, a chapel, a dining hall, a basketball court, ropes courses, a sports field, and more. We encourage and assist our workawayers in experiencing all that Maine has to offer from its large coastline, mountains, and forests!
We are asking everyone who comes here to comply with Maine's coronavirus regulations and highly encourage full vaccination. We want people who are willing to make our community as safe a place as possible.

From staying and helping with us, we expect you to gain a unique experience connecting with the natural environment. Through trips to explore Maine's unique geography including National and State Parks, which we can assist in transportation to, as well as exploring our lakefront property on kayaks, canoes, and walking trails, we have opportunities to grow in your knowledge of the outdoors and Maine’s ecosystem.
Staff members will have the opportunity to gain skills in group management, property upkeep, culinary skills, as well as knowledge in the processes of maintaining a summer camp. Meeting people from all over the country and world.
Norman, our director of 30 years, is eager to meet individuals from an array of backgrounds who are motivated to help and learn about non-profit retreats and camping ministries such as ours.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our workaway team! Making up meals for lower income families in central Maine, working at a community thrift store, doing art projects, some maintenance and work projects, and working with children. Being an active supportive member of a small community of staff. looking to make the world a better place. Come spend the summer with us!

Our workawayers will be living in a staff area with the other permanent staff workers. There are bunkrooms with bathrooms, showers, and common living room spaces, as well as access to a full kitchen area. You will have access to a stove, oven, microwave, and washing machines.
Workawayers who are interested in working over 12-15 hours per week will receive compensation for their work. We want to accommodate your preferences for this experience in terms of working hours, but we highly encourage June-Aug staff to work more hours weekly to gain the full summer camp experience in exchange for free living and salaried or hourly compensation. (Note: we can also assist in travel to and from the airport as well as shopping centers)
If you enjoy the outdoors, our location would be a paradise for you. There are many beaches, thousands of lakes and islands to explore by foot. Maine gives plenty of opportunities for skiing, fishing, hiking, and boating. We have camping supplies available for weekend trips. Nearby we have many mountains and trails to choose from that are perfect for anywhere from a weekend backpacking trip or a quick sunset hike.
I would be happy to give volunteers rides into the local towns Augusta, Winthrop or Lewiston.
