We are a very easy going, young minded retired couple , who have retired to the Spanish way of living. Our prime interests are motor sports, animals and nature. We love pottering on the land , 10 wild and untamed hectares,, with a view to promoting self sufficiency and organic produce as far as is possible. We love travelling and meeting people from all walks of life.

We live just outside a beautiful Spanish white washed mountain village with lots of cultural interest including a castle and museums, steeped in Spanish tradition. Lots of the old farming ways are still in use such as goat and sheep walking and irrigation by channels by hand.

OLIVE PICKING IN DECEMBER 2025 ! How does an Al Fresco Sausage Sizzle (or Veggie Burger) beer and wine amongst the olives sound ??? Its Olive Season and we are going to be ready to pick in December.

We have a 400 year old cortijo in the countryside which has been restored and at the moment we are looking for help with Olive picking, strimming and cutting meadow grass and gardening around the house. We are also in the process of cutting down some invasive bushes and generally tidying up the land, which is a mamoth annual task as we have over 10 hectares. The current work however, is primarily to help harvest the olives, some general gardening and clearing the areas around the house. No really heavy work involved, During Olive Picking season, December - January, we dont have to start too early, around 9am and working til around 4pm.

We have separate accommodation comprising 3 en suite double bedrooms with kitchen lounge diner and outside terrace. There is a private pool. We will provide breakfast and a substantial main meal for our workawayers

I stayed with Sally and Andrew for 6 weeks. They’re originally from England, so there were no problems at all with communication 🙂 They both speak English fluently and even know a bit of Spanish, so if you want to speak Spanish, that’s no problem either.

They live a little outside of town, so it was a bit tricky to get there on my own (I was … read more traveling by hitchhiking), but they were so kind 😊— they picked me up by car when I arrived. When I was leaving, I decided to fly to Ireland, and the nearest airport is about 1.5 hours away by car. Andrew very kindly drove me all the way there, which I really appreciated 🩷

The food was just amazing 😋 There was breakfast, lunch, and lots of snacks and drinks. I especially liked squash 😁, so there was no worry about being hungry. Sally is a great cook and really made sure everything was tasty. She even made a full English breakfast for me — it was so cool to try real English food. Everything was delicious and there was always plenty. Also, Andrew often treated me to ice cream when we went into town together, which was really nice 🍦 Thank you one more time 😁

The work was exactly as described in their profile — from 7 a.m. until lunchtime, with breaks. It wasn’t hard at all. I learned so much and gained a lot of new experience. Andrew was always there working with me and taught me if I didn’t know how to do something correctly. He even taught me how to drive the quad bike and the tractor 🚜 — I’m really thankful for that, because I think it will help me in the future when I get my driver’s licence. He was always there to help and support me.

The accommodation was fantastic 🏡 I had my own apartment, and the house itself is lovely and very comfortable. There’s even a pool, and plenty of places to go for walks — I even climbed a nearby mountain (my first climb and it was really amazing! I found wild goats at the top, but be careful, it’s a sharp ascent). They also have really nice animals: a dog called Denzel and three cats. I especially loved Coco — such a friendly cat, I honestly wanted to take him with me 🐱. Don’t be afraid of the dog, he’s small, very kind, and friendly 🐕

Andrew also invited me to races with his Caterham. It was my first time at a race and I was so excited when we got there. Andrew is a really skilled driver. He drives his old car without ABS and other modern systems better than drivers with brand-new racing cars worth over 100 k€ with all the features. I really enjoyed that day =)

Overall, everything was just perfect ❤️ I’m really grateful to Sally and Andrew for everything they did for me. Thank you very much =)

We have just spent a month in this beautiful place, a combination of workaway and house sit. Sally and Andrew are welcoming hosts, you will be well fed and superbly housed if you stay here. Hi i went to Andrew and sallys home for 2 weeks but stayed 4. The location was nice and peaceful, the work was manual but not hard and Andrew would never ask you to over work yourself.
