We are a family living in Panama, dedicated to protecting nature and supporting our community. Together we created the foundation, an NGO focused on environmental restoration, biodiversity, and regenerative projects.

To help cover the expenses of the NGO, we also run a small guesthouse surrounded by tropical rainforest. Here, life is full of toucans, ñeques, deer, sloths, monkeys, and many other amazing animals. Our place is peaceful and quiet, but close enough to the city so you can also enjoy city life. We’re travelers ourselves, so we wanted to create a budget-friendly option for backpackers who want something simple, comfortable, and authentic — rather than luxury tourism. We believe in promoting ecotourism and cultural exchange, while showcasing Panama’s incredible biodiversity and culture.

What We’re Looking For: We’d love a Workawayer to help us with both parts of our life here.

    1. Support the NGO (project tasks, digital communications, documentation, social media, organizational work, or fieldwork, depending on your skills).

    2. Guesthouse support: cleaning rooms before guests arrive, receiving guests, helping with gardening, painting, and small maintenance tasks.

Help is usually 3–4 hours per day, and some days there may be little to do — leaving you plenty of time to explore beaches, forests, and the rich culture of Panama.

Daily Life Here: We live surrounded by nature, and our cats keep the house safe from bugs and snakes. We have a tropical plant garden that needs care. The guesthouse isn’t luxurious, but guests love the peaceful atmosphere and natural setting.

What You’ll Experience: Be part of a family-led NGO working on environmental projects. Experience daily life in Panama while supporting ecotourism and cultural exchange.

A friendly, relaxed atmosphere where your contribution helps both our NGO mission and our guesthouse.

With us, you’ll become part of a family project that combines nature conservation with a welcoming guesthouse that sustains our work for the environment. We are currently working with a small local team of four staff members who help us keep both the NGO and the guesthouse running smoothly:

Lucy – our main housekeeper, who takes care of the guesthouse.

Bayardo – our skilled handyman, always ready with repairs and maintenance.

Carla – our NGO secretary, who supports us with administration and coordination.

Rodolfo – our accountant and legal advisor, ensuring our NGO stays compliant and well-managed.

Travellers with us will enjoy a true cultural exchange. Through the work with our NGO you’ll learn about the real challenges faced by local communities in Panama — such as water scarcity, deforestation, and climate impacts — and discover how people are working to protect resources and restore the environment.

By supporting our guesthouse, you’ll also gain hands-on skills in the hospitality business, including preparing rooms, welcoming guests, gardening, painting, and basic maintenance in a tropical setting.

Beyond the tasks, you’ll share daily life with a local family, meet neighbours, and immerse yourself in Panamanian culture and traditions.

And if you want to take the experience further, this can also be considered professional work experience. Since you’ll be collaborating with a certified NGO, you can build transferable skills not only in the nonprofit field, but also in areas like communications, administration, project management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational development — knowledge useful for many different career paths.
