Hello - currently looking for help to keep the trees and land clear for the spring of 2026- this will involve pruning the trees ready for olive season and chopping up any branches for the fire etc.....
In between if there is time also setting up the hydroponic farm.
Hi - we are the Monro family [Andy, Sarah-jane and our son Jamie] living on the Greek island of Corfu and we are currently building [ a self-build! ] our off-grid home from Shipping Containers - the first of its kind this side of Greece. The home is mainly finished, but now it is all the last bits and then we need to clear the surrounding land and set up our Olive trees properly and our green house and hydroponic garden. We also have a private Horse rescue centre that always needs help ....obviously anyone helping us has the chance to learn and experience living in a "tiny home" shipping container and we will be happy to share how we did it to anyone joining us! You will be working alongside us - we are hard workers and take pride in what we do and what we have achieved so far - you will be able to learn the process we went through and see if "tiny house" living is something you might be interested in! We have worked our whole lives in the hospitality industry and on top of working alongside us we will make sure you get to enjoy your free time and leave here hopefully having learnt something about eco friendly living and also about this amazing island we call home!
We have space in the self- contained studio for either a single person or couple .....

Autumn 2025 -preparing the trees and land for the olive harvest - clearing and chopping . The Olive harvest
Spring 2026 - preparing the trees and land for the summer season. Planting the seeds in the hydroponic farm.

We have lived over 30 years on the island and are very passionate about where we live and how lovely it is .... we are very lucky to be where we are.... We are literally a 2 minute drive from the nearest beach and a 30 minute drive to Corfu town which is now a Unesco site and really lovely .. we would be more than happy to show the local area and its highlights to anyone joining us......anyone joining us will have the unique experience of actually trying out "small house" living as it rises in popularity and we are happy to share how we went about the whole process and what we have learnt along the way about building with shipping containers and on a Greek island!

Ideally we are looking for anyone who can do any of the following - help on the land [strimming/digging/trim trees] - help set up the hydroponic part of the garden - is adept with a screwdriver and general DIY stuff lol - brick laying would be great as well - basically we are looking for anyone who is great with good DIY and/or knows their way around a garden .... so another Andy and Jamie LOL..... you will be helping alongside us - we have worked very hard for 4 years to get the project this far and now it is on the last stretch and we need a little help - getting older sucks LOL !

In exchange for you help 5 days a week we will provide 3 meals a day made up of breakfast, a full main meal and a snack meal [please let us know any diet preferences and we will try our best! - one of us is vegetarian if this is important for you!] . We usually have breakfast before work, the main meal just as we finish for the day [ so your afternoons are free] and a snack in the evening whenever you like. You will stay in our converted shipping container studio which is completely self contained - there is a shower/toilet and bed and it has its own front door and garden area around it so plenty of privacy - and it has its own booster connected to the Starlink wifi receiver....

For your free time you are more than welcome to join us at the Rescue Horses helping out [ what we do with our free time lol!] - there are LOADS of fabulous local walks we can show you, or if you would like to go a bit further we can drop you at the local village where the bus goes from and you can explore more of the island... or we can take you down to the local beach and collect you later ....

We have Starlink internet with VERY good speeds and as we are offgrid we never have power problems - there is a dedicated hub inside the accommodation and most of the garden surrounding it.

Our home is from shipping containers so the access for any kind of van is not a problem and we can offer a very nice space with lovely views.

We are animal lovers and accept pets but our dogs will need to say Hi first ... they are both rescues ... but not a bad bone in their bodies..,,,we cannot accept male dogs that have not been neutered as we found out this does not work ............., we have been adopted by a cat who tolerates Dogs but is not mad keen but she will let them know and can defend herself! Anyone who loves Horses and/or rides will be most welcome!!

Jemima is an extremely good cook and we have been vegetarian the whole time they were here and not even noticed not having any meat as her meals are so tasty!
