  My name is Ciara and I live in the West of Ireland with my two cats Stella and Stewie. We live in a 90+ year old house in the countryside which is roughly a 10 minute drive from a gorgeous lake, 25 minute to the city and 1 hours drive from the beautiful Connemara region. I’m currently renovating the house with future plans to make room in the garden for more animals, veg patches and flowers. I really enjoy this project but as someone who travelled quite a bit in her 20s, I do sometimes miss the experience of getting to meet with people from different cultural backgrounds. And so the idea of having people come to my home while this project is ongoing sounded super fun!
  
  Although it is just me who lives here, this is my original family home so every week my brother will pop in to drop his dog in for the day which is when I’ll usually rope him into helping me with some of the odd jobs in the house I can’t do by myself. My parents live a couple of hours away so whenever they are down in this part of the country they will stay a couple of nights here and there.
  
  But other than that, they’re all pretty hands off with the upgrades. And every so often, I will have friends who might come and stay for an evening as we share a few drinks and some food etc who might get roped into helping me with a job or two!
  
  The area I live in is a typical Irish village; it’s got a school, a shop, a post office, church, takeaway, hairdresser and of course, pubs. In fact my house is right in the middle of the two main village pubs. A few visits to these pubs and you’ll have familiarised yourself with a lot of the locals!
  
  In addition to that there is lots going on, plenty of sports, music, nice food, community garden, sauna, coffee truck, you name it!

  There’s lots of great classes nearby; art, music, Irish classes, etc
  I am extremely into food so would love to bring you to some of the best spots in town that will help you learn about our city's culture and history!
  There’s an amazing pub, Campbells Tavern, 15 minutes away with the most gorgeous weekly music sessions, and regular concerts which would be great
  Galway city has lots to offer, check out This Is Galway and Westend Galway websites to get a sense of the city
  Arts and culture are my things and FOOD! I’m crazy about food and nature and just easy going peaceful living.
  Really interested in meeting people from different parts of the world and just connecting with them on a personal level, with little expectations past that, just see what the universe brings my way!

  I really love getting hands on with the renovations but currently am studying for a masters while also working full time so things have had to slow down a bit. The main big jobs that I would love help with are renovating my kitchen, and organising the garden; putting in new beds and helping out a bit of shape on the place in general. It’s not massively taxing work, and for me when I have company I find it so much easier and more motivating to get through! I have a rough plan of action for what I want to get done between now and March which predominately focuses on prepping the new veg beds for planting in spring, and jobs like this in the garden. However, if that's not your thing and you prefer painting indoors, upholstering, etc just let me know because I have a very long to do list and am quite happy to just trod along with whatever suits visitors. Slow and steady wins the race is my motto with the house updates!

  Bedroom to yourself with storage. Shared bathroom.
  Office space if needed.
  Workshop with access to power tools if you want to work on your own projects.
  I’m very happy for people to use whatever amenities are available in the house and work off a trust basis.
  Food - this is such an important part of my life so would love to host people who are happy to share a couple of meals a week together and chat!

  We have good wifi and phone connection. I have an office space which you are of course welcome to use if I'm not at work. If using an office space is something that is important, I have a second desk which we can put together is needed.

  We have plenty of parking space for campervans although our driveway entrance is narrow so bigger vans might struggle with this. However, there is a space about 2 minutes walk up the road where you should be able to leave bigger vehicles for a couple of days if needed. It is a public space with no protection or gates etc so this is something to bear in mind, but the village is very safe.

  I’m happy to have four legged friends come along so long as they are okay with other animals. I have two cats here and there will often be dogs calling with other family members and friends. Also, the road outside can be quite busy with cars ignoring the speed limit unfortunately so this is something to be mindful of for visitors.
