>UPDATE: Help needed. Digging, planting, pruning, composting, burning, landscaping...
Due to recent experiences with both my and volunteers' (mainly volunteers!) plans changing, I'm now just considering interest received a week or two in advance. To all you really organised folk planing the whole year already, I'm sorry. I just can't think that far ahead, and neither can most of you! 😅 <
Hello! I'm Gaby. I live in a hand built wooden house in a pretty village at the foot of the medieval white hilltop town of Vejer. On the land I have various fruit trees including avocados, oranges, lemons, mangos, chirimoyas, guabas, feijoas, pomegranates... a little vegetable garden, lots of flower beds, 10 old hens, a daft dog and a cuddly cat. I usually spend mornings in the garden and afternoons working on my art.

I can offer guests a taste of life in southern Spain: gazpacho, cañas and siestas. There are many things to see and do near by: beautiful beaches to surf at, nice rocks to climb, pretty towns to explore... We can talk in either English or Spanish and maybe cook together. I have a bike, an inflatable canoe, a small printing press and a surf board you can borrow.

Ayuda
I'm generally looking for people to help in the garden and around the land. Specific tasks might include: planting, watering, weeding, strimming, pruning, clearing, digging... There's always something to do, plants don't seem to want to stop growing!
There are also plenty of handy tasks , such as a shade needing building and a hen pen redoing.
Everyone is welcome, but people with gardening and/or diy skills are particularly welcome :)
I've learnt I'm not so good at being too on top of people, so self-reliant and motivated folk are much appreciated.

I would like to learn German, but I think it's too difficult for me. Prove me wrong?
Alojamiento
You can stay in your own little house with its own kitchen, bathroom and a cosy bed nestled in the tree tops. Breakfast is self service, lunch and dinner we will share, along with many cups of tea.

Algo más...
Public transport here is lousy, but if you don't come in your own vehicle I can of course pick you up from wherever and do my best to take you to the places you would like to go to. I also have a bike you can borrow, and if you are over 25 maybe I can lend you my car from time to time.
I keep myself busy, but will do my best to include you in as much of my social life as you might be interested in. This could include dancing, climbing, surfing or going out for a drink.

Our accommodation was our own little house on the property, in which we felt very comfortable.
We worked mainly in the garden and we prepared the roof of the house for a new coat of paint.
The dinner together was always delicious. Gabys is a great cook, with his fantastic salads being particularly… read more
His place is a real oasis in the busy-ness of Southern Spain: a beautiful lush garden (we harvested Avocados for the first time which was such a treat!) and unique houses, that look like straight out of a fairy tale. Very inspiring for anyone… read more

Gaby cooked delicious meals for me every day and I did the washing up to make up for it.
Even after work, Gaby is a super sociable person, so we went surfing together, went for a walk and had a beer.
I can only recommend everyone to spend a few days or weeks with… read more
He is easy and pleasant to work with, but also seemed happy working independently. He was very layed back and discreet, an easy (and helpful!) person to have around. Not a keen cook, but happy to wash up… read more
The place is very beautiful and calm and Gabi is a caring, friendly and funny host. We loved to work in the garden and drinking tea or playing games together! We also had a lot of fun improving our spanish. His pets are really lovely as well. We really appreciated our stay and would love to come back another… read more
