Descripción
We are a dog rescue in Alora, near Malaga, Spain.
We are a small of team of dog lovers who work together to make a difference to the lives of the dogs at the rescue, some were strays, some abandoned & others taken from the 'pound'. You will be a valued member of the team, learning about animal care & how things are done from the experienced volunteers as you get to know the dogs and the procedures. We have over 60 dogs, a lot of which are larger breed Spanish Mastin dogs or crossbreeds. Every effort & support will be made to hep you settle into your role.
The rescue is in the countryside with beautiful views of the mountains. We are a short drive to the local shops, bars & restaurants and 10/15 minute drive to the town of Alora. There is a direct train from Alora to Malaga centre (30 minutes) and plenty of natural & cultural places to explore.

We are ideally located to explore some of the most beautiful areas of Andalucia on your days off. There are white washed villages, the beaches of the Costa del Sol, the lakes where you can swim and do water sports. Also the famous Camino del Rey walk is a short drive away.
You can learn about local Spanish culture, enjoy the lifestyle & learn the Spanish language whilst making a huge difference to the dogs at the rescue.
Ayuda
We are looking for help with kennel cleaning, socialising and exercising the dogs.
25 hours per week in exchange for accommodation and €30 per week food allowance. All rooms are en-suite and have access to kitchen facilities.
Must be comfortable with big dogs, reliable and hard working. We require a minimum of 3 weeks any time of the year .

Accommodation is en suite in either the main house or separate rooms with access to the kitchen facilities. All bedding & towels are provided & the room thoroughly cleaned before your arrival.
Transport is provided to get food shopping from local shops.

Most of the work is in the morning for feeding and cleaning of the dogs and kennels but also some afternoons as well.

They joined us 2 weeks after Pat, our founder and owner of the rescue had passed away, so there was a lot of changes and emotion. They just settled in and got on with the job of caring for the 60 plus dogs. They were due to stay 1 month and stayed 3 months which was great for us.

We ended up coming home with one dog - Finn - who stole our hearts at the shelter.
There are around 60 dogs at the shelter. Some live in packs, while others are in small groups in kennels. They are all absolutely lovely (of course!). One of the highlights is the large field… read more
