Descripción
We are a very active older couple. With wide-ranging interests. I design and make knitwear to sell and Robin is a bee keeper. We live in the countryside close to the Burren, in an old cottage which we renovated in the 90s. We have a very large garden and a woodland. My main interest is in creating an ornamental garden, growing a large variety of perennials, shrubs and trees. Robin grows vegtables and keeps sheep. as well as the bees.

We have hosted hundreds of volunteers over the years and enjoy meeting new people. Volunteers can learn how it's possible to earn an independent living in the countryside and how to create a garden. We live in a beautiful area, with lots of opportunities for hiking and exploring the Burren, its geology and archaeology.

Bedroom in house. All meals are provided, and help with food prep is appreciated.

Public transport is available to the nearest village 4 miles away. Volunteers are free at weekends and are encouraged to explore the immediate countryside or venture further afield. It's a good area for music-lovers. Bikes are available.
We are particularly looking for Workawayers to help with timber work in March, dealing with th fallen trees from the recent storm. Also tree-planting.

I spent three lovely weeks with Miriam and the dogs while Robin was away on a caving mission. The time flew! I was able to really feel as though I contributed to the maintenance of the garden, planting hedges, mulching, and fighting with brambles, etc. I also loved accompanying Miriam to the market in Galway and being a model for her hats. Gabriela volunteered as a Workawayer with me for 3 weeks. It was a positive experience. Her tasks were mainly clearing up in the garden after Winter... hedge cutting, weeding and composting. She completed every job with thoroughness and enthusiasm. She was also pleasant company, always cheerful. I can highly recommend her.y

Florian spent 2 weeks with us in November. He proved very helpful in creating concrete walkways around my new Polyhouse. His second week was spent doing typical autumn jobs... leaf collecting, mulching the garden beds and digging up the tender exotics to be moved to their Winter storage.

James' stay with us was quite short but in the week he achieved a lot. Due to particular circumstances at the time, he had to work alone quite a bit. However he didn't seem to mind and was a great help in the garden. He is a very pleasant person to have around and we enjoyed good conversation.
