    Hello,

I am a German who lives near Pantanassa on the Peloponnese/Lakonia in south Greece. I cultivate 600 olive trees without any chemicals and were certified in organic farming according to ΔΗΩ. We have some wine and a vegetable garden.

You will stay in the old stoned guesthouse on our ground where you can live and cook on your own or we cook together. Couples are welcome. If we are more volunteers you may sleep in our camper or if you have a camper there is enough space to park it on our ground. You may use the scooter.

Lakonia has many archeological and natural places (caves) to visit. The houses among the olive trees with little sea view are not located in a village, 3 km dirt road to a lonely beach, where you may swim even in November/December. I have photovoltaic- energy and water from a drill. The bigger village Neapoli is about 9 km south. It has many opportunities for hiking, music, etc. Even riding a bike along the beaches is fun.
    I am vegetarian.

The time between the middle of October and the beginning of December,
we usually harvest for about 5-6 hours daily for about 5 days a week because the olives have to be brought to the olive mill as soon as possible to get extra virgin oil. At least you will not help us on average for more than 25 hours a week. You can have two days off weekly to relax and look around, hike and bike in the nice landscape of Lakonia, or swim in the nearby sea. As it seems, that we have many olives this year we should be 4-5 helpers, who stay at least 2 weeks.
We use as little as possible machines, so you should be able to climb into the trees (which is fun too).

I can show you how olive trees are cultivated organically, how we deal with insect problems, what kind of fertilizers are allowed in biological farming, what are the main problems in gardening in the Greek climate, how solar energy works, and what it means to live far out in the country and be in nature. We will also visit the olive oil factory.

Mainly stay is an opportunity for twoto four people to have a nice summer/wintertime in Greece.
If there is the need of housekeeping, gardening and feeding our cat Grigoraki, because I travel, you just have to help about two hours a day and provide your own food.
If you come with your camper there is enough space and you may use the guesthouse facilities. Camper are welcome, because law has change in Greece and it is not allowed anymore to stand on a beach.

So we hope to see you soon in beautiful Lakonia.
    Jürgen

Organic methods: We have been doing certified organic farming for 12 years. Now it is not anymore certificated, because it is too much bureaucracy with the organization.

We do organic farming for more than thirty years - in Germany and as well since we came to Greece about 18 years ago. All these efforts we do just for ourselves and for fun.

Certifications: Not anymore controlled by ΔΗΩ
