We are a young family building our home in Raja Ampat.
Our names are Jack (English diving instructor with business in london) and Adecya (Indonesian) and Bodhin our little boy.
If you google Raja Ampat you'll see it described as the the last paradise on Earth which is arguably sadly true but like most places is facing many issues with unsustainable growth.

We are working with the local community to build our home as ecologically friendly as we can and use as many permaculture ideas as we can. We have a huge hugelkultur garden around 80 fruit trees and have planted over 250 trees in total and about the same amount of orchids and other plants. We work with the local community to protect the reefs and surrounding area and we’d like to start more projects with the local community.
However, at the moment we are only looking for skilled work wood, electrics, plumbing, permaculture, arborist, grafting, cement work, tiling. We have a cook and nanny but if you have a lot of cooking experience we can also always use some new receipes :).

The underwater pictures you can see are of our reef, 20 meters from the shoreline. Together with the locals we have protected it for the 4 years. We have sea eagles, birds of paradise, hornbills, parrots, cockatoos, maleo birds, cous-cous', sugar-gliders, many butterflies, turtles, octopus, giant clams, walking sharks, cuttlefish, mantas (if the season) baby black tip reef sharks, all kinds of reef fish all in our the garden/reef and 3 dogs called Chilli, Peppa and Rokok.

This website has some good local advice:

Raja Ampat is arguably the last tropical paradise on earth so it's a great opportunity to see what other places like Thailand, most or Indonesia, the Maldives or the Philippines used to be like. There is a commercial fishing ban in place over all of Raja Ampat which is why the diving is so famous but there is lot's more that needs to be done.
West papua is the largest conservation province on the planet and the Rainforest second only in size to the Amazon. It’s officially the most biodiverse area on land aswell as the sea.
There are so many threats to this area but there are some really good people fighting to preserve it so I think the main thing you would gather from being here is seeing what tropical nature should be, how fragile it is and the dangers facing it and learning how easy it is to help.

We've already completed alot of the most difficult work like waste water garden, water, 24/7 electricity...etc.

We have good local builders but the volunteers we ideally need are craftsman, Electricians, plumbers, professional gardeners, professional builders. People who might have a different perspective and knowledge and be able to offer ideas and insight. We also need a minimum of 4-8 weeks depending on skill level.

I'm afraid if you don't speak Bahasa your social life will be limited but if you want to experience a comfortable Robinson Crusoe lifestyle with internet, a 1/2 hour trip into town, spring mattress, world class snorkelling infront of your house, yoga platform, guitars...etc then this could be a good match for you.

We have our house, 1 guest house (soon to be 2), 2 kitchens, 4 bathrooms, 2 staff houses and 1 volunteer house.

Your house would be an iron wood house with composite roof.
You will be staying In your own house.
Nice bathroom with passion fruits inside next to the kitchen about 15meters from your room.
Food provided 3 times a day.

The internet is just about good enough to stream videos but you need to unlock your phone and buy a Telkomsel SIM card before you come (about $5).

10mins by boat to the nearest local village that has road access to the town.

    Algo más...

To get to our place you just need to book a flight to Sorong (Airasia from Jakarta is easiest) then take a ferry to Waisai town, from the town to the nearest village from our place is a 30mins car/bike ride and then take another 10 mins boat ride from the village to our place.

We get around by boat but every two days we pick up supplies from a delivery guy with his motorbike on the road, if you need to go in to town you can go with him and it takes 30mins.
We are arguably about as central as you can be in Raja Ampat, close to everything.
