One of us is a carpenter and the other a retired biologist. Two grown children, one not living at home but may visit home for short stays the other is currently living in our suite and has a young border collie. We also have one border collie that works on the farm so you must like dogs. This is a small family farm on 26 acres. We enjoy meeting and working with helpers from different countries and we try to make your stay work for both of us. Although we are not vegetarians or other specialty diets we have no problem hosting one. One family member is gluten free. No perfumes or scents please as one member of the family has a sensitivity.
One family member speaks German but ability to communicate in basic English a must for the safety of the animals. We appreciate if you are able to work with us and independently if needed. Also must be a non smoker.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

This year (2024) so far we have been taking some helpers and plan to in 2025 .
Lambing starts in the beginning of February so prefer that the stay is 3-4 weeks to cover that period.
We expect that we will need help haying (so must be strong enough to lift and stack (50-60 lb bales) and doing farm chores for July unless haying is early and completed in June. We will still likely be hosting some help seasonally during heavy workloads such as lambing. We will keep everyone posted.
One person is high risk but we are all fully vaccinated for Covid -19. We expect that any help applying be fully vaccinated for covid-19 with a WHO approved or Canadian approved vaccine .
We are located on a small farm 4 km north of Lumby and 30 minutes east of Vernon BC, with sheep, laying chickens, rabbits, hay and sometimes meat birds. We also have an old horse and 2 Icelandic horses and a large organic garden.
We have lots of birds and generally very few biting flies or mosquitoes . We are also a hummingbird banding station every 2 weeks from late April until the beginning of August.
We are hosting some help seasonally during heavier workloads such as lambing, haying and spring and fall cleanup. The house is also under a bit of renovation. Experience with tools an asset but not required. Prefer to have 1-4 week stay or longer, but at certain times of the year may consider a shorter stay so please check with us if you are interested in a shorter stay. We just ask that if you commit to coming to stay at our place that you arrive and keep us posted of any changes.Idiomas hablados

A basement room in the house with a queen sized bed and access to the main floor bathroom and shower. Meals are provided and it is expected that workawayers will help with food prep and /or cleanup and keep their spaces clean. Special diets can be accommodated in most cases, but workawayers will need to provide details of their diet requirements and work this out with the host prior to their stay.
There is a possibility of staying in the suite if our daughter is away travelling. If this is an option terms will be discussed upon inquiry.Algo más...
