Had a very enjoyable and relaxing time working at the hostel in Magog. Location is convenient, 2 min walk to some great grocery stores, 3 min to downtown area of Magog and 5 mins away from beautiful nearby lake. Being able to borrow the hostel bikes also means nearby natural beauty is accessible too. Work at the hostel is chilled and organised
… read more well. Mostly changing beds, cleaning rooms and taking care of the common areas. I found it pretty rewarding because the hostel is a lovely old redbrick house so it felt good to look after a historic building. Staff are all super friendly and I had good chats with everyone about everything from local attracttions, Quebecois history, music etc. I was here in the Autumn and the colour changes of the trees was spectacular. Also, Montreal is 90 mins away on a local bus (they're called Limocars). Working here was such a rewarding and pleasant experience I'd recommend it to anyone! We really enjoyed having Alfred and Oscar with us for almost one month. They are such good people. They were committed to the work, wanted to learn and had always a joyful energy. All the staff loved their presence and had great time with them. They were really outgoing and were’nt scared to talk to everybody in the hostel. Wich is important for

We stayed at the hostel for a month and had the best time! The hostel is located centrally in Magog so walking everywhere is easy, it's only a few minutes walk from the big lake. The accommodation is nice with great facilities and the kitchen has everything you'll need. The staff working the cafe are some of the nicest people you'll meet. Thanks

It has taken me a bit to get to writing this review, but the experience was too beautiful to let go without.
I met many people during my time, from the baristas Charity and Prudence, to the travelers with their own quirks and interests, to those growing in the midsts of life difficulty, to fellow spanish speakers who brought to mind a history I

The center of the display was Josie, however, and she acts as a guide to you from arrival. Josie is the embodiment of wit and wonder, worldliness and descretion, and she gives to the traveler what they themselves are ready to see. To me, she was a beautiful soul, careful to educate, and patient to all. She knew humor well, and expressed herself in dance and writing; both of which I hope she never stops for she is talented.
The place is cozy, the people even more welcoming, and the area is truly a haven on earth.
Go for peace, go to give.

This hostel is so cute and extremely clean! It’s a wonderful place because of the people and great vibes. It even has a cafe and small thrift store. You work 3hrs a day (9am-12pm) 5 days a week cleaning bathrooms, sweeping and mopping, making beds, and doing laundry. The weekends are the busiest days so you will usually work the weekends and have
… read more your days off during the week. Food is not provided and the kitchen is well supplied to cook your own meals and the grocery stores are very close. There are also nice bikes you can borrow which I very much enjoyed to explore beautiful Magog. Magog has excellent walking and biking paths I highly recommend. Workawayers typically stay in a shared dorm room with 2 bunk beds. In the 2 weeks I was here, I really enjoyed getting to know the people here and the nature of the area. I loved spiritual conversations with Ronny, Sam, and Anita! And I will remember fondly Josie taking us country dancing, thrifting and eating at Eggsquis with Anita, Sam’s game night of Cards Against Humanity, and the night we had a large potluck dinner. Josie does a great job running the hostel and is a kind and cool boss. And the 3 employees at the cafe are sweet and friendly - thank you Raphael, Ann Sophie and Gabi. This Workaway is especially great for digital nomads or people seeking more time to do other things because of the fewer work hrs. Thank you everyone for such a great time and sending you my love 🤍
Cette auberge est tellement mignonne et extrêmement propre ! C’est vraiment un endroit merveilleux à cause des gens et de l’ambiance géniale. Il y a même un café et une petite friperie. Vous travaillez 3 heures par jour (9h-12h) 5 jours par semaine pour nettoyer les salles de bains, balayer et essuyer, faire les lits et faire la lessive. Les week-ends sont les jours les plus chargés, vous travaillerez donc généralement les week-ends et aurez vos jours de congé pendant la semaine. La nourriture n'est pas fournie et la cuisine est bien équipée pour cuisiner vos propres repas et les épiceries sont très proches. Il y a aussi de jolis vélos que vous pouvez emprunter et que j'ai beaucoup appréciés pour explorer la belle Magog. Magog possède d'excellents sentiers pédestres et cyclables que je recommande fortement. Les workawayers séjournent généralement dans un dortoir partagé avec 2 lits superposés. Au cours des deux semaines que j'ai passées ici, j'ai vraiment aimé faire connaissance avec les gens d'ici et la nature de la région. J'ai adoré les conversations spirituelles avec Ronny, Sam et Anita ! Et je me souviendrai avec tendresse de Josie nous emmenant danser du country, friperie et manger à Eggsquis avec Anita, de la soirée de jeu de Sam de Cards Against Humanity et de la nuit où nous avons eu un grand dîner-partage. Josie fait un excellent travail en gérant l'auberge et est une patronne gentille et cool. Et les 3 employés du café sont gentils et sympathiques - merci Raphael, Ann Sophie et Gabi. Ce Workaway est particulièrement adapté aux nomades numériques ou aux personnes qui cherchent plus de temps pour faire autre chose en raison du nombre réduit d'heures de travail. I had a great experience at this hostel. The location is right in the heart of Magog, near the lake and close to everything—cinema, poutine places, cafés with live music, and more. Judith took me to watch a French movie, Nathalie gave me French lessons, Becca tried to help me find a job, Samuel inspired me to wake up early and go for a run, Christine shared her beautiful spiritual and travel experiences, and Annie took me to the best poutine spot in Magog. We cooked together almost every day in the kitchen and loved sharing our food. I made Indian cuisine that everyone enjoyed.
This was an experience that will stay with me forever.

I really liked the possibility of taking the hostel's bike (for the volunteers it's free) and traveling around the area. Besides the lake within walking distance, there are nearby lakes within an hour to two hours of cycling, for example, Fraser Lake (Lac Fraser), which is 14 kilometers away. If you bike towards the lakes, prepare for challenging climbs and spectacular views. In addition, stock up on sunscreen!
There are maps in the hostel, but my suggestion is to open Google Maps and look for nearby "Lac".

… read more personnes qui y travaillent ou les client-es de passage. Les espaces communs et tous les jeux de société à disposition permettent de passer de supers moments en collectivité.
Magog est une chouette petite ville, l'auberge est à une rue de la rue principale, ce qui rend très agréable de se déplacer à pied. Aussi j'ai eu le privilège de pouvoir skier gratuitement à Owl's Head du lundi au jeudi de par un accord entre l'auberge et la station. Ce qui est très appréciable lorsqu'on aime le ski tout en faisant attention à son budget.
La nourriture n'est pas fourni mais il y a un magasin tout proche et la cuisine de l'auberge est très grande et très bien équipée.
L'équipe est très flexible quant à la façon d'organiser les 15h de travail par semaine, ce qui est particulièrement appréciable selon nos désirs et envies d'activités.
Je vous recommande grandement cette place si vous aimez la vie en communauté.

Amin's presence at the hostel for 1 month was joyful and greatly appreciated.
