    Ayuda

Short: We are a cycling tour company looking for bike guides to add to our general staff.

    First something about us:
we are a relatively new tour agency but have been in the business for more than 10 years. We organize our bike tour for the majority on our own ship. With this ship, we sail from town to town in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, a little bit in France, and the majority in Germany. Our groups go out in the mornings and bike the same stretches as the ship sails. and come back at the end of the day to have dinner and to sleep on the ship. We have only English-speaking guests from mostly the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand onboard and most of them are above 50. Our tours are always week-long and the guide stays with the group the whole week. He/She takes them on bike rides, shows and tells them about the sights, helps them with problems, takes them on town walks, fixes bikes, presents the daily schedule, etc.

The life of a bike guide is not one for everyone but the ideal for some others. As a bike guide, you get to ride around on a bike through lots of different countries while being well paid. You often even have relatively a lot of freedom to adjust the tour to how you think it is best. An experienced bike guide can pick and choose the weeks in the summer when he/she wants to work and keep other weeks free for travel or other appointments.

This job comes with a lot of variation in the job but also a lot of demands,
    Applicants must:
    - Be over 25
    - Speak very good English
    - Speak either Dutch, German, or French (doesn't need to be fluent, but needs to be close to B1).
    - Needs to have been in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, or Austria a lot and be familiar with the culture and history of at least one of these countries. (as a guide you need to know where you are and what is typical about a place)
    - be sportive enough to bike 50km (over the length of the day) and do more work afterward
    - be interested in history, culture, and a healthy lifestyle
    - be a little technical (to fix bikes when they breakdown) or willing to learn these things
    - be able to work with groups and not be shy. Presentations in front of 25 people should be ok.
    - be representable (nothing too outwards extreme or alternative), you might be asked to wear company shirts

    A plus is:
    - Speaking more than one European language, especially: Dutch, German or French. Maybe also Hungarian, Slovakian, or
    Italian.
    - Degrees or experience in Tourism, History, Cultural studies, etc.
    - Experience in biking

    Then:
    - Applicants must be willing to either come to Amsterdam for an Interview/training. We are looking for someone soon, we have 6 weeks at least this season for you. But we do need you to come to Amsterdam as a trainee so we can asses if this is going to work. We'll pay for expenses and a bit for your time but no full wage for this try out. After that a trainee makes 120 euro's on the payroll per day. That is with room and board for the weeks you are working and some extra's like travel expenses, dinner money and tips. The wage goes up as you have learned to be a good guide or if you are one already.

Most importantly we are not looking for someone who will only want to do this for one season because it takes usually a season or more to get the hang of this. So, if you are just looking for something temporary or you are on a gap year then please don't reply. We are looking for someone who can see themselves do this long term. it takes time and training to become good enough. If this season works out we can give you many more weeks next year.

In your reaction please be clear about: name, background, education/work-experience which is slightly relevant, etc. Copy/pasted messages will be ignored.
