We are a Japanese / Canadian couple. We love to travel, explore and stay active (we surf, snowboard, hike, ...). We spend winters in the mountains and summers by the sea. We are able to live our dream by sharing our life-style and space with like-minded travelers, and workawayers like you!

There is plenty of time to explore and experience the area. We live near the sea! Enjoy fishing, surfing, body-boarding, hiking along the rugged coast line or spend your days chilling on the beach. Although we live in a beach town and get plenty of tourists, the town, especially our neighborhood has a real local vibe. Everyone here grows their own veggies and has their own rice paddy. Small unattended veggie stands along the road lets you have your share for cheap and sometimes free! I've seen ¥0 leeks for "sale"! Locals are friendly and are likely to greet everyone with a "konichiwa".

Workawayers tasks and hours depend on the time you would be joining us, and skills you have to share. We will need some help with housekeeping, room-making, gardening, and general maintenance. Anyone good at bicycle maintenance could help us keep our bikes rolling. Web and graphic designers, writers, photographers, painters, carpenters, also needed.
Hourly rate is ¥985. We also can provide project based pay if preferred.
Experienced gardeners always welcome.
Other positions are also available by contacting us direct.
We prefer to have people who can commit to 4 weeks or more, but shorter stays may be considered on a last minute basis.
To apply please respond to the questions below. We will reply to everyone's messages. If we think you are a good fit and we have availability during your requested dates we will ask for an online interview via Skype. The interview is not just for us, it's your chance to ask any questions you may have so be prepared! We don't make any decisions the day of the interview. We ask that you give serious consideration to the opportunity. We will get back in a week to let you know what we can offer. If you are then ready to confirm your stay with us, we will organize a pick and ask for a ¥5000 deposit to be refunded upon arrival.
PLEASE NOTE:
We are CLOSED from October until end of March. We DON'T need helpers during that time. Check our calendar first!

Private or shared Japanese style room with tatami floors and futons in rooms or house we rent. Rooms are within walking distance of place of work and the beach!
Convenience store is 5 minute walk. You can walk or ride a bike to a drugstore with groceries available. Supermarkets are all in the center of town which is 4-5 kilometers away. You can walk, ride a bike (but it's hilly!) or take a bus (10 minutes) to the center or town. The bus stop is 5-10 minutes walk from the accommodation.
We are tucked into a green valley surrounded by mountains and trees. The Izu Peninsula is hilly and rugged, and UNESCO geo-park. We live on the side of a valley, the road to the driveway is not paved. Nature abounds! We see wild boar almost daily. If you are afraid of insects or other creatures this is not the best place for you. If you have trouble walking/cycling uphill this is not the place for you. Summers are very HOT and very HUMID.

Foreign passport holders (tourists AND working visa holders) can purchase Izu rail one day pass for only ¥1500. There are 2 and 3 days passes available too. It's a great way to explore the Izu peninsula. You can even take a bike on most local trains (can not use Ito station). There is lots to see and experience on the peninsula that recently became an official UNESCO geo-park.Un poco más de información
