Descripción
This is Willi, chairman of a small beekeepers' association and a beekeeper myself.
We run an association for organic beekeeping and fruit growing. We are activ in a small village, 8 km from Sibiu in the centre of Romania.
Our association organize beekeeping seminars, work shops, bee days for schools and different activity’s around beekeeping and fruit growing. Every year in march we organize a fruit tree grafting workshop.
Our place is the ancient parochial residence of the evangelic church including a priest house, church, school and surrounding gardens.
Beside of our public activity we cultivate fruits and vegetables for our own consumption. We have a greenhouse for tomato and cucumber. We keep bees, sheep’s and chicken and a dog and cats are with us at the place.
Our activity is based on the help of practician’s and volunteers during the hole year.

We live in a multicultural region characterised true the culture and history of the Transylvanian Saxons which live in this region 800 years long. Now, Transylvania Saxons, Hungarians are minority’s beside gypsies and the Romanian main population.

I stayed with Willi for four weeks and I really enjoyed my time here. Romania in summer is just awesome, the place is surrounded by grasslands where sheeps are grazing and the wildlife has a great diversity and is full of surprises. I spent almost 3 weeks at Willi’s place and it was awesome.
I did different work almost everyday, so it never got boring. Willi explained everything and the work was mostly simple and interesting.

Willi is the best host I ever had in my voluntary program, he is much more than some useless words that I can use to describe him. I miss him and his children and that place, I really miss them! I started my voluntary experience in final of August 2020 with wwoof, that's how I met Willi after some bad experience that I had in other places, I… read more remember that I called him in the time I was in some other place, also around Sibiu and I started to cry and told him my point of view about what kind of stupid people I met before and how they treat me and my dog and I was a little desperate because I came in that place with such an enthusiasm and joy, because I love Transylvania area, and we would like to stay more time there, but the hosts wasn't good.
He said we can come to him and stay for a while there. And we stayed for more then two months there 😂, first we discussed that we will stay for some days, which became some months. We spent such a good time together, with his sweet children that I love them a lot! There was other two volunteers from Germany, one girl and one boy which helps Willi with the bees in the time they made their summer practice for the college. We spent good time all together, I was only for few times with Willi to help him with the bees, because normally they three goes working with bees in the morning and comes back in the middle of the day, when I waited them with the lunch, but one time I remember that he bring me in a little long adventure to the bees he keeps them in the mountain, in a beautiful forest with such a lovely landscape and we feed the bees together. It was very nice, and in the rest of the time I prefered to stay home and cooking good meals for all of us, cleaning around, gardening and keep my attention for my dog because me and my dog are together everywhere, so I need to be responsible, same time I was doing my tasks. About my dog..I can also say that he miss Lina a lot, he had a nice company there and they played a lot, and now my dog doesn't have a girl to spend all the day..so I'm sure he miss her, but I'm also sure that they will meet again soon, because we are friends now and friends are visiting each other 🙂.
It was a pleasure for me to spend this time with Willi and his children, and also with that other two volunteers, we cooked together, drink the tea together at 5 pm with some delicious sweets, it was like a nice and relaxing ritual, we played a lot and they are so independent and smart and intelligent children that I appreciate!
I need to say that the taste of Willi's honey is very special, the best I have ever taste, my favourite is forest honey and salcam with paducel, and nucella ones, I also appreciate his apples, he really has a lot of varieties and all are awesome, and the taste of his tomatoes is so delicious and also the cheese in that region is the best one from the world! He also has a good wine and strong and quality palinca that I enjoyed for some times, and everything there was perfect, when I decided to go from there, it was for me like..we need to go now, because otherway we will never do it 😂 really I mean! It was peacefully, relaxing and joyfully perfect!
We love you Willi, and thank you for everything, and don't forget that you're the best host and beekeeper for us! Succes!
