Hi.. We are Julie and Iain, a creative couple sharing a dream project to regenerate land, build ecologically and host a peaceful space for reflection and co-creation. Our travel experiences and love of nature are expressed through our actions towards a harmonic balance between homesteading, learning, rural life and the pleasure of hosting friends, volunteers.
With a focus on ethical and ecological solutions we resonate deeply with many permaculture principles, keen to share skills and techniques with individual volunteers and small groups, connecting local community and professionals. We value the importance of community in action and are active in many local events.
Our homestead project is located in a rural setting, with easy road access, surrounding area is primarily Cork Oak forest and open pasture where cows and sheep occasionally graze, we are just 10 minutes by car from the nearby town of Cercal de Alentejo where you will find cafes, food shops and supply stores. We are also only 20 minutes from the picturesque estuary of the 'Mira River' and the popular coastal town of 'Villa Nova de Milfontes' (The village of 1000 fountains)... with stunning clifftop walks and secluded beaches if you venture a little to the north and south. Own transport is recommended but not essential.
We are in caring responsibility of a beautiful 8 hectare homestead, consisting of Pine Nut and Cork Oak plantation, a beautiful natural water lake, 2 fresh water wells and a passing stream, the land came with 5 ruins, 1 of which we have already renovated in traditional taipa (Rammed Earth) with round wood beam work.. fusing rustic design with a modern twist. We have a shaded car parking space, communal cob/roundwood toilet and hot showers, beautiful secluded / shaded camping or camper van space with hammocks, electricity and fresh water, internet access also available there.
Please feel free to get in touch if you are looking for a beautiful place to exchange ideas and imagination, energy and inspiration.
We look forward to hearing from you.. with thanks - Iain & Julie

We are very active within the budding local communities and permaculture projects, participating in Artisans markets, local events where we enjoy sharing and co-creating the collective evolution of the area. We are well travelled, creative couple and enjoy sharing experiences with like minded people.
We welcome easy going, pro-active individuals or couples looking to learn and skill share through a range of interesting tasks around a budding homestead: Planting and Pruning, Fence making, caring for our Organic Vegetable Gardens and fruit tress, Bio Construction & Plantation Maintenance.
We look forward to hearing from you if you have experience in carpentry, land management, gardening, cooking, or anyone with motivation for permaculture or natural building.
We encourage a tranquil and productive shared space so at this point we request no dogs or children.
