Descripción
I am looking for a volunteer or a couple of volunteers who can stay here from April to October during our absence. There are different ways of occupation but what I need most is someone who can take care of the house and look after the dogs, cats and chickens.
The place offers intimacy and its proximity to the city of Montevideo makes it compatible with cultural and social activities.
The commitment requires responsible people.
During the day, three to four people work on the farm.
The place enjoys comforts such as a large kitchen, a dining room with a fireplace, a bathroom with hot water, a washing machine, firewood ready for use...
The dogs are docile and guarded.
Board and lodging are included in the proposal.
We (myself, my husband, three local employees and our children of 7, 13 and 16 years old) run a small ecological family farm, a so-called “chakra”, in Uruguay, near Montevideo. We grow a great variety of vegetables and fruits, which we sell at the local organic market in Montevideo and shops specialising in organic products. We also have chicken, several dogs and cats.
We are looking for open-minded, easy-going and flexible persons, who like being around people and to bring in their own ideas. We offer a beautiful location, an insight in our farming and a friendly atmosphere. You will be a part of the family.

I had a wonderful time on the chacra, which was a little paradise for me. It is a very beautiful area with a big variety of fruits and vegetables. I enjoyed a lot the work on the fields, with the friendly animals around me and learned a lot about organic agriculture.

I spend a very good time at their beautiful place, i was there for two weeks, i felt free to organise my days as I wanted, and the task was easy. All the family is nice and respectful, and if you want to learn spanish, the children are good teachers ;-) gracias
