The idea was and still is to exchange the invasive eucalyptus trees with more sustainable and local trees like cork oaks. But I did not expect a huge forest fire last year to burn the entire eucalyptus plantation of 27,5 ha with 2,5 mountains, 2,5 valleys and half a little river in a fire blast of just 15 minutes. Oops. So after a bit more than a year of rebuilding a basecamp, i need some HELP. I am just an eccentric elderly lady with a dog. So if you are not afraid of nature and are curious about what you really need of modern overabundance, do not look any further, THIS is your place!
You can be a human squirrel collecting acorns and seeds for planting. If you like to work out : we can put together a balanced training program consisting of chopping, digging, weightlifting, throwing wood logs. If you need to get dirty: this land has some good clay and EARTH. The wild boars on my land love to bath in it. You can build stuff with it! For example help finish the pizza oven. But floating gardens, reciprocal frames and many many other things are also on the to do list for next year.
If meditation is your thing, you can always do some gardening while getting hypnotized by the neighbors’ sheep bells or by picking endless amounts of fragrant herbs i use to make incense.
You will sleep like a baby, rosy cheeks and all and not even notice the other volunteers in the shared canvas bell tent.
If you need privacy, there is a compost toilet and an outdoor shower.
If it all gets too much, you can walk into Odeceixe in 30 mins to enjoy a braised tuna thingy with kombucha or get yourself beaten up by some of the finest waves of the Atlantic Ocean.
This project is about giving myself and volunteers the opportunity to get out of their comfort zone, cry a bit and then possibly experience the feeling of empowerment that comes with learning by doing.
I do have a name, i will give it to you later :)Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

This part of Portugal is very diverse. There is a huge community of Nepali and Indian, a good mix of local Portugese, Portugese from the cities rediscovering the countryside and people from all over the world. We could help you to get to know this area and it’s people better, give suggestions for excursions and events.

There is one canvas bell tent that fits 8 pers. but i have bedding for 5 pers. You can bring your own tent or campervan. The Atlantic coast can be quite cool, even during summer nights, so do not forget to bring enough warm clothes. There is a shared outdoor kitchen, a compost toilet and an outdoor shower. There is 4/5G and a possibility to charge your phones. We are off grid. You can only use biodegradable soaps and cosmetics.

There are all kinds of wild animals here: wild boars, silver herons, eagles, turtles, bees, mosquitoes, lizards, snakes, spiders , scorpions……… this place is not suitable for people that are getting goose bumps right now. I have a dog and he does not like most other dogs and children.
There is all kinds of vegetation and terrain here and you will be in the middle of it. Thorny bushes, brambles, cactus, crumbling steep slopes and in winter slippery mud all over…..dress for the occasion and bring protective shoes and clothing.
There is a direct bus connection to Lisbon (3,5h). Getting to / from Faro involves changing buses 2-3 times so might take just as long as getting to / from Lisbon.
The bus stop is about 30 mins by foot.Un poco más de información
