CENTRAL COAST NSW LOCATION!! Beach and Bush 90 Kilometres north of SYDNEY

    WHO ARE WE?
We are a family of 3 adults living in a large home with a tropical pool and garden. Dad Mitch, Mum Deanna and son Simon. We have 2 cats and 3 dogs and other assorted small animals and birds. The local reptilian wildlife also come and visit from time to time from October to March. These are lizards and non venomous python snakes. In summer you will see them but they won’t hurt you. Our greyhound and 2 poodles will be all over you however, so hopefully you are not afraid of dogs or allergic to cats.

We are Friendly hosts happy to get to know you and your culture. We will teach you how to talk like an Austraylin, and many other idioms. You’ll be saying “she’ll be right mate” before you know it lol. And you can teach us your sayings. Fluent English is important to us so we can talk to each other. That way, much banter and fun will be had!

    WHERE ARE WE?
Killcare on the Bouddi Peninsula. The area has a surf beach on one side, and Hardys Bay, Pretty Beach and Wagstaffe on the other. In the middle are National parks and houses.
You can see the coastline down to Sydney from the beach and other lookouts and you can catch a ferry to Palm Beach from Wagstaffe.
We offer a laid back stay as we are not in the city. There are lots of trails & safe swimming beaches walking distance from our house. Awesome place to surf, swim, hike or just relax.

    ACCOMODATION
You will have a private room with a queen size bed and shared bathroom (double shower, bath, toilet). Your room has reverse cycle air conditioning and a ceiling fan. If needed, we can make up another bed downstairs in the formal lounge room.
We have fast wifi that you can use.
We have a list of house rules next to the bed. We respect your privacy and we wish for you to respect ours.

    WORKAWAYS WE WANT
We like you to be part of our family whilst you are staying here. We are flexible on what you want to watch on TV and eat. Our dining times can be rather late, up to 9.00pm, so if you want to eat earlier please let us know. We tend to eat in front of the TV, rather than at a table. You can do either.

Mitch gets up early like 6.00am and comes downstairs and works from home Monday to Friday. Deanna gets up between 8.00am and 11.00am and goes to work Sunday to Wednesday. Simon gets up late and goes on his computer all day. Mitch goes to bed at 9.30pm, Deanna 11.00pm and Simon 2.00am. So there is plenty of opportunity for a chat.

Workaways MUST speak good English. We like clear communication. If there is an instruction you don’t understand, please say so because if you say OK, we will think that you will do the job.

We want people who are prepared to work, even the little stuff like cleaning bird cages needs to be done.
We only expect you to work for half a day and the rest of the time go and explore our slice of the world.

Work varies from general home duties such as cleaning and ironing to outdoor work maintaining our tropical pool and garden. Sometimes we need help with firewood. We love it when you cook dishes that your mother made you when you were a child. We want to try your traditional cuisine.

We provide meals, with tea, coffee and water included - but we do not provide other drinks or alcohol.

Killcare is a smoke free property, so if you are a regular smoker, this is not the place to stay. We are happy to drink alcohol with you but please supply your own.

In the warmer months - October to April, our pool is very inviting as is our jacuzzi spa. The surf beach is close enough to walk to and it is spectacular at sunset. We also take our boat out on the local waterways at this time (see photos)

In the cooler months May to September we have a lovely wood fireplace to relax around, as well as a heater on the deck. This is a great time for “bushwalking” the Aussie work for hiking. We have a lot of trails through the “bush”, Aussie for forest or wooded area. Some have spectacular views and all feature native plants.

    GETTING HERE
We are 90 kilometres north from SYDNEY CBD. If driving it will take about 90 minutes on good roads and a freeway. Public transport will take 70 minutes from SYDNEY CENTRAL STATION, and then 20 minutes by car or 1 hour by bus to Killcare.

    PUBLIC TRANSPORT
    From the Airport:
There are trains direct to Central from the airport via International Platform 1. It will take about 15 minutes to arrive on platform 21.
    From anywhere else in Sydney:
Take the train from your local station to Central

Once at Central board the Intercity train on the CCN line. The platforms are usually 5,6,7,8,9. Look for the train that will take you to Woy Woy station. Sometimes it says NEWCASTLE, other times GOSFORD. These are stations further north on the line.

We will pick you up by car from Woy Woy train station at the start of your stay and drop you off at Woy Woy train station at the end of your stay.

We do not take you back and forth from the station during your stay as it is 20 minutes to the station and 20 minutes back home, so you will have to get the infrequent bus if you wish to travel to Sydney often. We work during the week so can’t always take you places, but will show you around the local area.

    DRIVING
Use route M1 from the airport to head north from Sydney towards Killcare on the Central Coast. Use Google Maps or your GPS app is easiest.

You are encouraged to hire a car at the airport to explore the rest of the beautiful Central Coast during your stay. The drive from Sydney is easy and you have freedom to come and go. Other work always who have hired a car found that they saw much more of Australia and the Coast when they had a car.

We are your Aussie family whilst you are here, and we will take good care of you. We look forward to meeting you :)
