Marie came to work for me for two weeks and ended up staying for almost four weeks. My house needed a thorough ‘spring cleaning’ and obviously, there was more work to complete than I’d originally thought! Most mornings we would discuss her work schedule for the day and then, she would get on with it. Marie needed minimal supervision and could be

We were both very flexible on the number of hours/days worked which I believe, worked well for both of us. I enjoyed our conversations over dinner and I am full of admiration for her adventurous and independent lifestyle. Marie was very respectful around the house and I appreciated her discretion and how she gave me my own space while we were living together. Thank you, Marie, for all your hard work!

Julie lives in a nice house outside of the village Tourrette-sur-Loup, which is in the mountain area far above Nice and Cannes. If you want to visit Grasse or other interesting locations of the Côte d'Azur, you can take public transport. The room provided for Workawayers is lovely, with a huge terrace (10 m x 3 m) and a bathroom on your own. I

Julie is a very friendly British lady, preparing tasty and healthy meals. She really wants to make sure you feel comfortable.

One of the things I love about Workaway is that you can choose from a wide variety of people, all of whom have different skills. This time I needed someone who was an 'allrounder', someone to fix bits and pieces around the house and garden. And Martin was perfect for everything that I needed. He did some indoor painting; small electrical jobs,

I guess that taking in a more mature person means you don't have to micro manage, as was the case with Martin. He worked at his own pace throughout, not only using initiative but even suggesting small improvements. Not content with giving my stinky fish pond a through clean, he went on to restock it with goldfish and even worked out a system to include a small solar fountain. On a personal level, he was great company and we had many good conversations. He was neat and tidy, very discreet and his own routine meant that, although we were in the same house together 24/7, we were able to respect each others need for some privacy/time alone. Last but not least, his dog is superbly well behaved and quite adorable. Martin was a great asset to have for those two weeks and I would thoroughly recommend both him and Mila!

I had an absolutely lovely stay with Julie for a couple of weeks in the Spring. She was a brilliant host and looked after me so well from the moment I arrived. Julie was my first Workaway host and I couldn’t be happier with my experience and time with her - from our first delightful video call where we couldn’t stop chatting, to saying goodbye as new friends who will definitely meet again, soon! This was really quite a rare experience. We worked together as a team and she showed so much appreciation which made it even easier to give my best! She also treated me to outings to the nearby village and towns, scrumptious pastries, a celebration with her friends in Nice, a live jazz evening with a dear friend and one day she even helped me to find a specific item on a very hot day, just to name a few! She is truly a woman of incredible character with a beautiful soul and I can’t wait to spend more time together in the near future!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Is it a risk taking on an older someone as a workawayer?? I don't think so. Sandra was with me for 10 days. I needed someone to help me ready the house, pool and garden for a group of Airbnb renters. On the first morning, we went into the village and sat discussing our plan of action over croissants and coffee. I'd already prepared my list of
… read more things to do but when she read it, the first question she asked me was what 'job' was I least looking forward to. 'My walk-in closet,' I whispered hesitantly ... 'Okay, I suggest we tackle that first,' she said. And so, each day, that was what we did, over breakfast, agreeing a strategy of what we would get done that day.
With each passing day, the house became 'cared for' again. All those neglected little spaces and corners that hadn't seen a duster in years suddenly came to life. The windows gleamed, the woodwork shone. But don't think Sandra is just a cleaner – she’s a homemaker 'extraordinaire' taking obvious pride in everything she does.
In the evenings, we took turns cooking and sharing recipes, enjoying a few glasses of wine together, yet when my son and his wife visited, she was discreet enough to give us time alone; she's a very easy person to live with.
From her profile, Sandra describes herself as young in spirit, fit, healthy and hard working and yes, she is all of that but what she didn't mention was her ability to totally throw herself into a 'project' and not give up until it was done.
On the last evening, we sat down to share a celebratory meal for all we'd achieved.
'You might want to use these,' she said, and began to forward to me the most beautiful photos of the house and garden that she'd taken over the last ten days. ‘These may even increase your Airbnb bookings for next year,' she said. What a gift! I think she's right!
Every moment of her stay was a pleasure. Sandra went above and beyond any expectation I might have had. I look forward to meeting up with her again soon.Comentarios

Ezra was so lovely to have around the house. We got on so well and a lot of fun together. He was really cheerful all the time and applied himself to any task that I needed help with. He got to know many of my friends, even teaching them to salsa dance! He is incredibly skillful at making the best ever Margharita's. Being Mexican, he would add

I hope he continues with Workaway as anyone who invites him will be very happy. Come back soon, Ezra! We miss you!

How to even start!
Julie has been a blessing in my life! If there is a phrase that represents our relationship it would be “from strangers to family.”
Initially, I first contacted her as my first WorkAway experience, honestly I was very nervous and afraid of living with an unknown person, but this changed on the first moment I met her when she
… read more picked me up in Antibes train station.
Julie is a wonderful human being, with an admirable heart. She has more energy than most of my youngest friends, and a great sense of humor.
She truly invited me to feel in home during my stay since the first day. She presented me with her family and her closest friends, (please say hi to Thomas and Wendy). I was even able to meet her friend´s son Lawrence, who I still keep in contact with. She loves receiving and entertaining her wonderful friends, and she always invited me to be part of their friendship (I´ll never forget Salsa and Margarita night). One of her best friends is a beautiful lady called Daisy, she is an adorable and loyal dog who loves spending time with everyone.
The normal daily routine would be sharing in the morning a delicious breakfast together in front of her beautiful terrace, having some authentic British tea (she has a whole drawer full of tea), we would share cultural exchange experiences and great conversations. (Music was always part of the show). The normal tasks were cleaning the pool, arranging the garage, cleaning her terrace, planting some lavender plants, painting the walls, clearing up the kitchen, making sure all the expired snacks where thrown away, taking the garbage out, watering the garden, feeding Daisy, hovering the stairs and the floors, cleaning the windows, rearranging her room, and helping around when her friends came. Honestly I had to beg her to give me more tasks at the beginning, because I though they weren’t enough for what I was receiving. As long as the tasks where completed done it was fine for her, she is very flexible with time and she will never explode you with impossible jobs.
One of the best things about Julie is that she loves learning about different cultures, she was very interested about my home country (Mexico) and about my culture, so she decorated her terrace with Tequila signs and colorful lights, and she allowed me to put Mexican Cumbias and salsas and even practiced dancing together! We often had Chile con carne and after a while she was turning Mexican since she placed Chiles (spicy peppers) on most of her food too.
Julie is an extraordinary person, we really enjoyed spending time together, often she would invite me a delicious local French pizza, breakfast in the village, she would prepare a special dinner (she is an amazing cook), we would go shopping in Nice, go to the beach in Antibes, and of course play and sing Coldplay in the car on the road. As I had friends near the Italian border, she would often drive me to the closest train station or ask Thomas to drive me to Nice.
I would highly recommend helping Julie in her house, she will surprise you and teach you many lifelong lessons. It’s definitely impossible to mention all of our stories here, but after meeting Julie last year, I can affirm that she will open her heart to everyone, she is the most marvelous lady in all South of France.
I can’t leave without mentioning our trip to Kenya. Yes, after a few months living together, Julie invited me to be part of her association as a volunteer in Africa. This has been one of the most enriching experiences in my life and I will always be grateful with Julie for this. I was able to meet her loving family in Kenya, I spent a couple months there and I was once again witness of Julie´s applaudable cause. Today, she knows she has a house and a family waiting to see her again in Teotihuacan, Mexico.
Please, take care of her.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Sometimes you just have to take a chance. Joni had been let down at the last minute and was looking for a place for her and Yum Yum for two weeks. She arrived within 14 hours of us speaking!
