We’ve just spent a great couple of weeks with Chris and Louise. They came to stay with us at the end of March for a two week Workaway experience.
It was our first time hosting, so we started by taking time together talking about our expectations, likes, dislikes and what we’d like to get done.
Both Chris and Louise were full of ideas with our
… read more garden projects and keen to get started. For us, we very much wanted to be involved, so we worked together, achieving great results on some pretty challenging tasks, like re-laying some rather heavy stone steps, building a stone path, removing an old decaying tree and chipping off some walls ready to be repointed.
At the end of the day we would enjoy dinner together, chatting about what we’d achieved and planning the days ahead.
We found we had a shared enjoyment of walking, so we also arranged for a couple of day walks together, showing them the delights of our local countryside.
Chris and Louise have a very can-do attitude, very considered and calm. They are happy to share their experience and ideas with confidence. We were very happy for them to take on a project or task and run with it. Our time shared together was very rewarding and a fun couple of weeks.
We would definitely invite them back. 🥂

We had the most wonderful experience and cultural exchange with Jo and Brian, learning lots about the champagne industry and local area, and helping out with a variety of jobs at their beautiful chambre d'hote.
It was our third Workaway experience and their first, so we were able to discuss how it all worked and share thoughts on the scheme. What
… read more we particularly liked was that Jo and Brian worked alongside us, so we felt we got to know each other really well by the end of our two-week stay.
Jo and Brian were amazing hosts, providing tasty meals, morning and afternoon tea, taking us to the local market, and even champagne tasting, as well as suggesting interesting places to visit. We went on some walks together, taking a picnic lunch, which was another great way to get a feel for the area. Overall, we felt we got a great balance of work and play.
The area is very scenic, with a bustling champagne industry at the heart, and we benefitted from some superb weather. We hope to return one day. Merci beaucoup Jo and Brian 😍This Workawayer has chosen to keep their profile private.
