HI!
We are Andrea and Elisabetta and we need help to start our project in the Apuan Alps Regional Park.
The first step will be the general maintenance of a typical mountain house with plank floors that still smell of chestnut.
We already did a lot of works (some really hard and some very important such as heating system that now consist in two fireplaces) and we really want to thanks all workawayers coming to help us, anyone with different skills and different attitude we’re and are an inexhaustible energy reserve, we aren’t speaking only about a physical effort, but especially for the moral support.
We wait for other interesting people who know how to cheer up our difficult days with a smile and who want to participate and be involved in our project of life.
We are in Alta Versilia, in the municipality of Stazzema, surrounded by luxuriant nature: streams, thick woods and an incredible wealth of animals and plants.
Spectacular mountains will embrace us and can be reached by trekking on more or less easy paths: the Procinto and its Bimbi (for climbing enthusiasts), Monte Forato (from whose summit it will be possible to swing on a swing), the Pania della Croce (the Queen of the Apuan Alps), Monte Corchia (home to caves, mines and marble quarries), Monte Nona and Matanna (with its wild horses).
Last, but not least: we are in a mountain just 20 km from the sea!

We will try to teach the volunteers some work activities that we will carry out to renovate the structure (in some cases supported by real professionals from the various sectors), for gardening and agriculture, but we will be happy to learn new skills from them, in a mutual exchange.
We will arrange free time in order to give the possibility to enjoy the Apuan mountains and take a dip in the sea or in the art cities of Tuscany.
We will try to share both work activities with the volunteers and, weather permitting, also some recreational activities, for example accompanying you on the paths or cooking traditional dishes to be enjoyed together in the typical Fireplace Room.

What is needed?
In addition to willpower and basic DIY, carpentry skills (to fix floors or restore doors and windows, even painting them), masonry and plumbing will be indispensable.
Next step?
Recover the ancient vineyards, start a vegetable garden, take care of gardening in general; soon the time will come to split and collect wood, mushrooms and chestnuts.
In November we could also collect some olives to take to the mill.
Last undertaking, rebuilding the Metato of 1840.

We speak English or Spanish, and a little French, but we will be happy to help you learn Italian... once I studied Russian, too.
Alojamiento
You will live with us and you will have a double or twin room at your disposal.
The house is quite large and practically all the other spaces are shared (bathroom, kitchen, living room and garden)
There is electricity, water and wi-fi.
We will be happy to share meals with the volunteers and food will be included in the hospitality, the kitchen is well stocked and cooking equipment is available.
