Adding gravy to life is my motto for life!

And this year I have decided to dedicate my time in pouring loads of gravy on my life by travelling full time! But not just by being a tourist, but by farming and volunteering.

I have a Msc degree in Organic Farming/Resilient Food Systems and already quickly learned to also leave the university and to get into the field and work on farms. Over the years I have volunteered on farms in the Netherlands and France. And lived in Laos for 4 months to conduct research on farms for my Msc thesis.

I started this travel year by working on an organic farm for over a month in Sinai, Egypt. Where I not only spend loads of time in the greenhouses, we also did some construction, cleaning and there was an mural art project with Art students from Cairo in the nearby village. In March I stayed for a month in Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka. I discovered my creativity again and painted many signs, helped out with social media and sometimes gave some guidance in the managment of the hotel. I spend another month in the south of Sri Lanka working as a social host in a surf hostel. In Malaysia I helped out the owner of a small hostel and guesthouse for a while.

Experiences like that, made me realise again that being involved in projects and other local businesses and activitities is the best way of travelling for me. To become part of a daily rhythm and interact with people while doing a silly task!

I have a lot of experience in volunteering. Many different projects such as:
* Foodsharing project in Copenhagen
* Farming in France, the Netherlands and Egypt
* Entertainment and guides for kidscamp in the mountains of Austria
* >2 years running a community center with fellow students in Amsterdam, with daily social activities like computerlessons, sportclubs and kids activities. Also initiated neighbourhood diners.
* Working in hostels in Sri Lanka and Malaysia

Apart from that, I resigned from my partime job at the Ministry of Agriculture and a Organic Garden Café. Build skills of management and teamwork. Experience that is usefull in every new project!

I can't wait for more workaways!
