Hi! I'm Nozomi Hashimoto, a recent graduate from the graduate school of International Christian University (ICU), Tokyo, Japan. I am currently working as a cultural program cordinator for Japanese program in Colorado College, CO. You can also find my introduction from this websitesite ↓

I was born and raised in suburban west Tokyo (except for the year I spent as a high school exchange student in New Zealand). Although Tokyo is the largest metropolitan city in Japan, my city is surrounded by beautiful nature, and this environment grew my love toward nature and outdoor activities!

I majored in language education and minored in psychology for my bachelor's degree. I also earned masters' degree in education. During these years, I got three teaching certifications (national teaching license for English, IB teaching certificate, Japanese teaching certificate). In the future, I want to be an educator who can bring positive attitudes/changes to the students. But to be such an educator, I thought that I needed more experience and braoden my perspective, and that's why I am in the US now! It has been sush an amazing experience to teach Japanese in the college, learn new cultures and meet with new people!

In my free time, I like cooking, visiting museums, walking/cycling, and doing workout at the gym. But my biggest hobby has been traveling abroad. During 2018 and 2020, I visited seven countries (for the five countries, I traveled by myself). Instead of going sightseeing and shopping in cities, I love exploring new places by visiting local museums, eating local food, doing outdoor activities in natur, and above all, interacting with new people! I am looking forward to meeting with new people in the world and exchanging our experiences and culture through workaway!

Where to start? I had the best time in the US with Falco family for two weeks.

Words are never enough to express my gratitude for this experience, but I can say with 100% confidence that this family is a LEGEND and one of the best families in the world!

Linda is an incredible woman with a very beautiful soul. She is caring, thoughtful, and… read more always willing to help people with all her heart. Whether it be doing house choirs or taking care of her dogs, everything she does is seasoned with love! Bernie is such a cool guy with a sense of humor and extreme kindness. He was always there to talk to me, and has been my life coach during my stay! He helps you to guide your life with right words and wisdom. Paul, their son, is a gentle but strong man inside and out. He is a hard worker with a sense of responsibilities and always willing to help his family:) I also stayed with their daughter and her family during Christmas, and witnessed just how sweet and welcoming Falco family is. They treated me as their new family member, and I could feel like so from the very first day of my stay.

I helped to do a morning routine of feeding dogs (and puppies) and cleaning their area. Because I haven’t had dogs before, I was a little bit worried if I could do the job right. But the Falco dogs were very friendly and well-behaved, so I could get along with them pretty quickly (but you must like animals!) After the morning routine, I often tagged along with Linda and explored the area. While paying attention to the dogs and puppies, I also liked to go for a walk in the nearby park in the afternoon. Linda kindly let me cook whatever I wanted to make, and it’d been such a joy to cook in their stylish kitchen with beautiful cookwares. After dinner, we had a movie night almost every night! Their movie selections were always so good and these movie nights (and following discussion) have been a very inspiring time.

The time passed so fast, but it also felt like a year because I could grow a lot in those two weeks. By being a part of Falco family, you can not only learn how to take care of dogs, but also how to grow as a person. At Falco’s, you will receive much more than what you give, and they are 100% willing to give any help your life needs. I’ve been lucky enough to stay at this wonderful family, and able to recharge and ground myself in what I believe. This healing experience at Falco’s would remain the best Christmas present I could ever ask for!

Thank you very much for teaching me how to embrace myself (and also teaching me how to draw again, Linda)! I am deeply thankful for all the things you gave me!
