Hello! My name is Karin Kasai.
I’m 19 years old and was born and raised in Japan.
Visiting Finland has been my dream since childhood. After graduating from high school last year, I worked at a hotel in Hakone, a famous hot spring town in Japan, to save money for this journey.
Back in Japan, I organized an Earth Day event—part of the world’s largest environmental movement. I also founded a student group to engage local youth in environmental and social action. Through disaster relief, volunteer work, and organic farming, I’ve tried to be part of solutions to various social issues.
I’m deeply interested in Finnish society—its happiness, welfare, political systems, and the values that shape its national character. I'm even considering applying to a university in Finland next year.
I love trying new things and enjoy being around plants, animals, and people. I’m curious about the world, and I like thinking philosophically, studying politics and social systems, and reflecting on how societies can improve. My hobbies include drawing, cooking, spending time outdoors, picnicking, reading, watching movies, gardening, and writing.
Before I move on to higher education, I hope to meet many people, see new places, and gain hands-on experience with social and environmental issues. I’d love to help you with your work, share stories, and learn from each other.
