Ela was a delight! She worked really hard clearing weeds, cleaning windows especially the high up ones we can't reach and generally helping with the spring cleaning and opening up of the house. She was self-motivating, finding extra jobs that needed doing and tidying up as she went. Her English is excellent and she is very easy to get along with. We were so lucky to have her staying with us for a week!

We spent almost two weeks with Ed and Chris and time passed in the blink of an eye. Chris and Ed were charming with us and it was a pleasure to meet them and to chat with them. The house and the garden are just amazing !! We loved spending time in this beautiful place and with the two adorable dogs. The dogs are just so lovely and we miss them so much already. We enjoyed hang out in the house with them! For jobs we did some housekeeping, gardening, cleaning windows for example. Our room and bathroom were perfectly clean. The meal were delicious. We highly recommend Ed and Chris, they are amazing hosts.

Leona stayed with me for around 4 weeks and was a great help with the animals and general maintenance around the property. Leona enjoyed the animals company and I enjoyed talking to her about her background and her interest in the arts and crafts. Leona is trustworthy, friendly, intelligent and could contribute to a placement that requires responsibility or a creative outlook and I hope she visits again, as do Jaco and Vincent!

Sandra & Maria, two very polite and respectful girls that I had the pleasure of hosting for just over 2 weeks. They gave me precious help by taking care of the small vegetable garden on the terrace, assisting me in the kitchen in the preparation of various dishes and in the movement and cleaning of the kayaks. In addition, Maria who has particular photographic and sporting skills took many photos and filmed all the activities carried out, useful for future workawayers. Both put themselves to the test in all the sporting activities, accompanying me in evaluating the state of the paths and also contributed to the cleaning of the thick vegetation in one of these. Super positive experience.. I appreciated their healthy and simple lifestyle suitable for a sporty workaway, as well as a silent presence and attentive to the needs of serenity of those who host new people in their home. Fast, direct, transparent and collaborative communication. Apartment left very clean and tidy.. as rarely happens. Their company will be missed. I wish you the best for your future and hope to see you again.

Staying with JP in Pointe d’Esny was a fantastic experience. I had the opportunity to assist with managing online platforms such as TripAdvisor and GetYourGuide, which allowed me to contribute in a meaningful way while still enjoying a flexible schedule. JP was an incredible host:welcoming, supportive, and always ready to share insights about local life. The environment was calm and inspiring, and I had plenty of free time to explore and truly discover the beauty of Mauritius, from its stunning beaches to its rich culture and nature. It was the perfect balance between productivity and adventure. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity and highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to be part of an authentic and enriching exchange. Thank you again, JP!

Walter & Elise stayed with us for just under 2 weeks & we would gladly have had them stay longer. They were such a friendly and helpful couple. We had an old overgrown pond which, in their time here they completely cleared from overgrown Willows & Brambles. Both took a genuine interest in the work and we appreciate being able to discuss ideas with them. Walter & Elise are hard working ,conscientious & enthusiastic. When we were away for a couple of days our house, pets and guests staying were in good hands. Everything was looked after perfectly. Whenever we met for some food or an outing both took a great interest in their surroundings , asked many questions about our culture & life. We had good conversations & they shared their own interesti life experiences with us. It was a real pleasure to have them stay here. Don't hesitate to host them you won't regret it.

We had a great Workaway experience with Peter! He helped us in the garden and with landscaping projects. He is detailed, a hard worker, and has a great attitude/positive mindset. He was also great with our animals. Beyond that we had a good time talking, sharing stories and playing games. Peter is a great guy, and we loved having him in our home. We felt comfortable, safe, and at ease with him around. We would highly recommend!

I stayed 2 weeks with Keshab, Anita and their two daughters. it was a very beautiful experience because the homestay is located in nature with a lot of waterfalls and beautiful spots to visit. I had my own private room with bathroom and we ate everyday delicious food. I was allowed to make myself milk tea troughout the day. it was very fun to connect with the guest because they are also backpackers who are open minded and friendly. the family was so kind to me and I got really along with their daughters :) I have to say that I worked 5-7 hrs per day but that was not so much a problem because the work was fun and everytime I needed a break or day off, Keshab war flexible and provided me with time to rest. thank you for this experience and I wish the best to this welcoming family 🙏☀️🥰

Wonderful experience. unfortunately i only stayed here for a week but i really Wish could have stay much longer and be more helpful. Sani and Taylor are two lovely people with a beautiful project that i hope will continue to grow. Right from the start i felt welcomed and part of the family. They are doing their best to change things for the better despite the difficulties. You can have some real culturale Exchange here and learn a lot from the locals. Also food Is delicious and very fulfilling. The children are so sweet and being able to be part of the project even if for a short time was a privilege. The place is beautiful surrounded by nature and it is possible to explore the surroundings of lombok such as the islands, waterfalls and traditional villages. Sani can also arrange some tours for you if you'd like to. It was difficult to leave, i sincerely hope to be able to return one day . Thank you 🥰

Russell and Petra were just so kind and gentle. They welcomed me like family from day one. What they have done for me is too much. They taught me how to grow vegetables, took me to dinners with their neighbours, took me to orchestra concert, took me the sewing workshop. And they took me with them on trip and then even allowed me to stay in their house when they were away. And also Petra made me some clothes for me during her trip. Petra is very good at cooking and making clothes. Russell is very knowledgeable and can teach me a lot. And they both love plants and grow vegetables with great care. It was an honour to help them with gardening in their precious garden. They always praised the work I had done. They really helped me to enjoy every day. It is a precious memory and experience that I will never forget. If you are looking for workaway accommodation, you should definitely choose a nice house in their Oamaru.

We wish we could have spend more time with Joseph after his stay and we loved to have his company and support. He was a fantastic Workawayer and a true pleasure to host. Right from the start, he stood out for being very quick to learn and always eager to contribute. He approached every task with calm focus and a great sense of responsibility – exactly the kind of person you’re happy to have around. He’s also very sociable, without ever being too much – easygoing, friendly, and just really nice company. Whether during work or downtime, he fit right in and made meaningful connections with everyone here. He enjoyed interacting with us and raising questions for a nice conversation, also enjoyed being on his own reading or doing research. One thing that really stood out was his genuine interest in local culture and interacting with us. He took time to understand the place, the people, and the way we live – always with curiosity and respect. That openness added so much to the exchange since he wanted to have a truly Workaway experience and getting the most of his visit. His work was accurate, thoughtful, and always of high quality. We could trust him with anything and knew it would be done with care. On top of that, he’s respectful, kind, and very mindful of shared spaces and routines. Joseph is not just a great helper – he’s a great person and a role model for the next generations. We’re grateful for the time we shared and would welcome him back anytime. Highly recommended to any future hosts! 🙌

10/10 experience. First off the place is absolutely gorgeous! It's kind of in a valley surrounded by rice paddies. And the weather isn't as hot and humid as Jakarta since it's up in the mountains a bit. I was supposed to stay 3 weeks but extended it to a full month because I loved it so much. I've volunteered on around 15 farms in my life over the last 10 years and this was the first place that gave us classes on useful skills in permaculture!! They won't just give you a task and not explain why it is beneficial to the farm. The work is rewarding and very informative. Barir the farm manager lead the classes and our daily activities. He really pours his heart and soul into permaculture, I think it's the one thing he cares about most in the world. He was kind, patient, funny and always down to play some cards at night with the volunteers! The food was amazing local indonesian/sudanese food made by the lovely farm mother, Emi. There are no words good enough to describe Emi, you just have to meet her. She is a ball of joy that will make you laugh so hard you pee your pants! She teaches you how to cook local dishes if you are interested in helping her out in the kitchen, I would practically follow her around all day trying to learn anything I could from her! All of the food apart from the tofu and tempeh came from the farm itself! Emi is also very crafty and is constantly crocheting beautiful bags and decorative items. I was lucky enough that in my time there I got to participate in 2 workshops. One was a yoga retreat they hold about once every month or two. It was so nice that we were able to be included in the classes from the incredible teachers that came to the farm. I also was able to make a gorgeous scarf during the botanical fabric dying workshop, which was grand! All in all everything was great. The "dorm" everyone stayed in was comfy and capsule style beds so you still got lots of privacy to yourself. The other volunteers I stayed with were great genuine people. The guests that would come and the owners were so wonderful. The sights were breathtaking. The farming was fun and rewarding. It was nice to live so simply during my month at Pendesaan Farm and I'm grateful for the opportunity to volunteer my time.

This was my first experience and I could have not ask for a better host. Annamaria her husband and luna are very welcoming and easy going. It was a true cultural exchange we learn to make crostata, pasta, saltimbocca, tortillas, picadillo etc. I was taken to the famous beautiful sites and the not so famous one that I would have not know about. She speaks perfect English and Spanish and of course I did learn some Italian. Summarizing, it was amazing and I can't wait to come back.

I stayed in Kerinci for 10 days, which was a great amount of time to experience the local life. It was exactly what I was looking for: stunning landscapes, nature, a lovely village with no tourists haha and meeting amazing people. Romes took me to the beautiful garden, where we spent one night. We planted Patchoulli, he cooked delicious food over the fire & made a bamboo flute! and we sat around the bonfire. I was allowed to paint the beautiful cabin - which I really enjoyed. Romes introduced me to his friends/workers, they were super nice & even showed me how to make coffee leaf tea. Apart from that I taught English in the school, went to the local market and played Volleyball with the women of the village in the middle of the ricefields - so many unforgettable experiences. Romes showed me cinnamon plantages and sugar palm trees, we visited beautiful waterfalls and the Kayu Aro tea plantation. He is a really nice guy, always trying to fulfill all your needs, he’s super spontaneous & sometimes a bit too flirty tho, but I guess that’s just his personality haha. I was super grateful he could accommodate me as a vegetarian - I loved the local food! The room is also very nice and spacious, the bathroom is typical Indonesian. Even tho we did activities every day - there was still plenty of time to relax, which I needed after travelling nonstop for a quite a long time. Well I had an amazing time, I can only recommend this beautiful workaway in the heart of Kerinci, if you’re looking for an authentic, unique and local experience. Makasiihh! ◡̈

Dale and Jackie have created a beautiful space up on the hill, full of life and nature where you feel a true connection and appreciation for everything around you. The work was varied and interesting - pruning berries, splitting and stacking firewood, making a worktop for the tiny house's outdoor kitchen area, helping Dale to net the fruit trees, some cleaning and some gardening. Staying in the barn was an absolute treat, food was plentiful, wholesome and delicious (dates and cheddar cheese, incredible combo!), but most special for me was the time spent in the evenings with the dogs by the fire, with conversations wandering from one thing to the next, and feeling entirely at home. Dale and Jackie are beautiful, brilliant people with a wealth of skills and experience and a cracking sense of humour, and I admire them greatly and am grateful for the time I got to spend with them at their home.
