Me and a friend stayed with Mel and Zul for almost 2 weeks. During this time we had a great time at Tanah Tara. Mel and Zul are both very kind, generous, and always available. During our period, me and my friend both happened to be ill during the first 4/5 days, and we were bedridden and unable to work, despite this unconvenience, Zul and Mel took care of us, always provided meals for us, took us to a clinic and made sure that even away from home we were feeling ok. Apart from this, we had some small jobs around fhe cafe, including helping set up and give a hand with a Chinese wedding that took place during our stay, at the beautiful Astana in Tanah Tara. This was a very fun and new experience that we enjoyed very much. Outside the working time we were given plenty of free time to do our work, explore, and relax, never feeling pressured to work. Every delicious meal that we shared we exchanged ideas and information that was very insightful to malay culture and way of life! Overall, thank you Zul and thank you Mel for making our stay here so pleasureable and at-ease! I recommend anyone looking to explore the greener side just outside KL to stay and help out at Tanah Tara!

Jared was as volunteer in April fir a month and while his stayed he helped us at the tour office giving information, sail tour, rental services. Thanks a lot Jared, you are a nice friendly person, thanks for all your help. Best regards

Kazuya is an exemplary volunteer! He is always willing to help out , kind and caring to my elderly mum . Very hardworking in his duties and always smiling! People like him are a gem ! We hope to have him again and again!

Siham was a fantastic help for us during a really busy time for our family. She worked really hard on overhauling our polytunnel, our outside vegetable beds and much more. She was an absolute pleasure to have around the house too. I would highly recommend Siham to anyone and wish her all the best luck for her travels and adventures. Thank you!

This was my first Workaway experience and my first real stop on my journey, and it turned out to be one of the best times I’ve had so far. I stayed for five weeks, and even though Bellingen is a small town, there’s always something to do. The cafés are amazing, the atmosphere is super chill, and even without a car I never felt bored. The guesthouse is beautiful, the work was very relaxed, and I felt welcomed right from the beginning by the managers and the other Workawayers. Everyone was so kind and easygoing, which made it feel like home really quickly. I’d love to come back one day. This place has a very special spot in my heart. Thank you so much to the hosts and everyone who made my time there so unforgettable.

It was a pleasure to have Jan and Caro with us! They were always willing to help with any task asked of them. They are diligent, polite, considerate of our space, clean in their house, and hard workers. They helped us with planting a new hectare of Cacao, with making chocolate, with pruning fruit trees of different kinds, cleaning pathways within the land with pick and shovel, planting pineapples, Jan even helped with cleaning the land with the weedwacker machine, and many other tasks. Most importantly, they loved, enjoyed, and respected the land. Any host will be doing themselves a favor by having them. We look forward to having them visit us in the future! Christine and Tatjana were absolutely fantastic to have around. They are easygoing, super friendly and super fast learners. We had the pleasure to have them here for 4 months and we thurily enjoyed getting to know them both. They worked incredibly hard in our housekeeping department and helped out at the restaurant during the busiest time of the summer as well. No task is too big or job too hard for these young ladies. We will miss them and wish them both all the best with their next adventures. Thank you for everything!!

I stayed 2 weeks here. It were 2 really peaceful weeks. The view is absolutely beautiful. The cristal sea and the jungle. I saw many animals like little monkeys, many salamanders, fish (when I went snorkeling), spiders and other crazy insects. Kevin also took me to meet other people in the village such was really nice. The work wasn’t hard. I cleaned the floor everyday, the kitchen and the bathrooms and one time I cooked also. The communication was not always good in my opinion. I think it was also because it was low season and so almost no guests which meant that the staff was also taking some time off by sleeping late for example. Sometimes I was a little lost because of not much communicatation. But overall it was really relaxing and a good experience so I would defenitly recommend (maybe better in high season). How lucky was I to have Clive and his remarkable gardening skills. Clive worked tirelessly in my yard and garden. I would tell Clive what needed to be done and he did that and so much more. Clive has a beautiful garden back home, so he has many years of experience and a good eye for what a garden needs. Clive cleaned up my vegetable garden for the fall, took out raspberry bushes, cleaned up my compost bin, picked alot of crabapples, pruned trees and took down a large mugo pine (this was no small feat)! Not only was Clive an expert in the garden he also made several delicious meals. Clive was very easy to have around and we all enjoyed listening to his many travel tales! Thank you Clive for all your hard work and I look forward to meeting up again sometime soon!

William volunteered at our hotel for a month. He's one of the best volunteers we've ever had. He works very well and is always available to help outside of his working hours. We highly recommend William, our dedicated volunteer!

My very first workaway turned out to be an experience I will cherish forever. First of all, I was surprised how instantly I felt at home when I got there. They are great hosts and they make sure that you are comfortable and have everything you need. Rosa is a great cook, from traditional Catalan dishes to Asian dishes, anything she cooks is delicious! I also appreciated the clarity of tasks and the well-organized schedule: you get free time until lunch, and Rosa writes down what should be done in the afternoon/ you accompany her to her English classes (which was fun playing games and getting to know her students!) Another impressive thing about them is that they are knowledgeable about so many things:culture, history, botany, astronomy, the list goes on… They are not only passionate about sharing their knowledge, but also learning about your cultures. It was a pleasure learning from them, and sharing some culture and foods from Japan! If you’re interested in improving your Spanish, this is a great place to do that too. I liked that they spoke to me not too fast and they were also very patient when I was trying to talk in Spanish. All in all, Rosa and Pau are one of the most kind, generous, inspiring and intelligent people I got to meet. I already miss the time I had with them... the food, guitar lessons, excursions to beautiful places, and the cutest dogs Vega and Koyper. Thank you so much for such an amazing experience. I hope to see you all again.

I stayed at Lili's school to help with preparing a Halloween camp for the kids, and in addition I got the chance to give some lessons to the kids and the adults! I really enjoyed seeing how Lili puts her approach of teaching into practice and how engaged and interested the kids are :)

Staying with Sabine in the Dominican Republic was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. She wasn’t just a host — she was a mother, a safe place, and a true home for me while I was there. She treats people with warmth, dignity, and genuine care. I always felt protected, supported, and welcomed in her presence. What makes Sabine truly exceptional is not only how she treats the people she hosts, but how she lives her entire life in service to others — especially through her work rescuing horses. Her heart is so pure. She does this work not for recognition, not for show, but because she sincerely loves and cares for these animals and believes they deserve better. Watching her interact with the horses, seeing how she feeds them, rehabilitates them, advocates for them — it inspired me deeply. She puts her entire self into this mission. I would strongly encourage anyone who is considering partnering with her — whether in donations, collaboration, fundraising, or support — to do it. When you support Sabine, you are not supporting a hobby. You are supporting real, hands-on, life-changing work. She uses her life for service, and it shows in everything she touches. I am forever grateful for the time I spent with her. Sabine is a rare soul — kind, selfless, honest, and deeply committed to making a positive impact. I recommend her with my whole heart.

We were so happy to be part of this adventure ! During 2 weeks, we could take part in very various activities of the association : cleaning beaches, sorting/cleaning the trash, managing compost, improving the camp... We even learn how to do a bamboo fence, using a machete to cut it. The work here was very rich, and we are glad to feel we could help a bit in here on many fields. We also were greatly welcome, and we would like to warmly thanks Majo who is a very strong and great support (remotely when we were there), Luana, Cheila, Chicao and all the Pousada staff who guided, helped and supported us with so much kindness, and of course the so great volunteer team we had during our stay :D We were there at the beginning of the rainy season, so we endured the related rains and a very constantly humid air. But again, Majo and the other association members were very supportive and proactive to help us in finding solutions and improvements to adapt the camp to the season. Thank you again for this experience, which taught us so much in an exceptional environment in the Atlantic forest!

I stayed here as my first Workaway, and I couldn't have picked a better host than Duncan. He is an amazing host, super attentive and caring. He was always checking in to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. Right as he picked me up, he started talking about local history from wines to medieval castles to the Hundred Years' War. He shared a lot about ancient buildings and how they were constructed. The work was somewhat difficult at times, but he helps you every step of the way. If you’re interested in history, architecture, or simply enjoy learning about the past and traditional craftsmanship, I would absolutely recommend Duncan.

I recently had a most enjoyable week with Liz. She is wonderful company and as for her cooking , well it is second to none.Liz is a very determined woman as she undertakes the massive internal restructuring of her grand house. The finished product shall be a credit to her.

A truly wonderful stay, very welcoming, we shared some lovely moments! I highly recommend it 😁

Having Kristen and Kelvin was great! They feel very familiar to us, like we know each other for a long time. They did a great job in and around the house and are super fun to be around with. Communication was smooth and straight forward. Hanging out with them was always infused with positivity and laughter. They were sweet and attentive to our little boy and that means alot to us. Next time you are in Europe don't forget to stop by!! :)
