This is not your regular Workaway experience. I volunteered on the engineering and mechanical design of the products, that, as a manufacturing company, it's a huge area for improvements. I learnt a lot from each member of the team: how to establish business models, do a sales pitch, assemble structures, check electric motors, etc. But there are also lots of things to do regarding marketing, design, social media, economics and business aspects. Volunteering at is facing new challenges everyday. If you are somebody prone to problem solving, reaching out to people or purpose driven, you will love the place. At this place you will interact with lots of people on wheelchairs, and get to know amazing and sometimes tough life stories. You will tour the city from a different perspective along them and make a lot of new friends. Usually when people come here they left with a different and more positive perspective on dissability. This can be truly a life changing experience. Besides that, Medellín is a really cool city, full of beautiful and kind people. This is one of the places is Colombia where there's constant innovation happening all the time, and the cultural and artistic scenario is constantly active all year round.

I've volunteered at Franklin's farm for five weeks and I absolutely loved my stay. This was my first Workaway experience, and it definitely outperformed all my expectations!! Unfortunately, Franklin wasn't there, but I'm grateful I had the chance to work under the direction of Angel, the farmer who works there. The work is from 6am to 12pm, with a one-hour break from 9am to 10am. It's quite tiring but extremely satisfying and rewarding. I had the chance to explore a great variety of different tasks: helping in the avocado collection, cutting the leaves from banana trees, planting corn seeds, pruning trees, and collecting coffee beans. It was incredible, never in my life did I think I would have tried any of these activities :) The food provided in the finca is not enough for all meals, but whatever you receive is delicious: avocados, bananas, plantains, pumpkins, as well as rice, oats, and nuts. I loved waking up in nature, surrounded by green and silence. My stay was physically tiring but mentally relaxing and spiritually peaceful. I hope I'll have the chance to come back, sooner or later!

Best Workaway ever. Shaun and Anna are marvellous and welcomed us warmly into their home. The living space for Workawayers is beautiful — I would move in straight away. Everything is well organised and clearly communicated, and you always know the plan for the whole week. The work on the land can be demanding, but we were very well fed and wonderfully looked after. We learned a great deal, rotated chores daily (including cooking), and I loved getting creative with the vegetables from the garden. The weekends were full of adventures, and we were able to see — and fall in love with — so much of Asturias. It truly felt like a home away from home. Thank you so much for that, Anna and Shaun.

Marco was such a great workawayer! He worked very hard and we really appreciated his attention to detail. We really felt like we could trust him to do a good job and go above and beyond. We would have him back here whenever he wanted to return! He was also very easy going and we had a good time with him. Thanks for all your help Marco ❤️

There's not enough stars to give this lady. Puk is THE BEST . She arrived slightly unexpectedly due to a previous host not being suitable and ended up staying 3 months. Well we lucked out and she was incredible and we were very sad to see her go. She's now a true member of our family rather than a workaway-er and I'm sure we'll be keeping in touch. What a joyous exchange.

I spent 2 weeks at Eleonore's place, it was amazing to see what she has managed to do with a place that needed so much work. She is a very hard working lady with a lot of knowledge and a very much "can do!" attitude. She was also very helpful with my very very basic French and i think it improved more at her place than any other place i have been to. She is a very good cook and has lots of interesting projects on the go. I wish her all the best and would recommend you to visit her!

I’m extremely grateful to Eloísa and Alessandro for hosting me in their beautiful home. They were very kind and welcoming, and they taught me so much about well-being, healthy living, and Ecuadorian culture. These two weeks went by so fast, and I miss them so much already! I hope to see you again soon, in Ecuador or somewhere else 🫶🏼 PS : I miss Eloísa’s dishes and our Netflix nights 🥲❤️

I spent six days at Sonia's villa. The work was almost exclusively in the garden: pruning bushes, cutting thicker branches into firewood, and removing vines from plants. It was wonderful work, the weather was lovely, and there was always a fantastic view of the sea with breathtaking sunsets. Sonia cooked for us at lunchtime and in the evenings, we had great conversations, and I learned a lot about Sardinia. Immersing myself in everyday Italian life was also very interesting. Thank you, Sonia!

Giulio helped us about a week with olive picking. A good worker and polite guy. He was also very interested in the whole olive oil process. Besides he fitted well in the group. Recommended.

Thank you so much Laia and Oliver for the warm welcome and for your inexhaustible energy, hard work and your love and care for the dogs. I volunteered for 3 weeks, and it was a truly amazing experience - walking the dogs just after sunrise amid a stunning landscape, working together with all other volunteers (what a great team!), learning more about how to behave and work with dogs and getting countless nose nudges, tail-wiggling or cuddles from dogs when cleaning their kennels or gardens - all the dogs were truly friendly and adorable. Giving back cuddles and playing with the dogs were the best parts and it was very hard for me to leave after 3 weeks. I first doubted whether I can "handle" volunteering in a dog shelter (as I didn't have so much experience), but I'm so happy that I just went - I will never forget the love the dogs give, and I know I will find another opportunity to give some back.

I can't believe Lilla is only 18 and it was her first work away experience. She was doing so good!!! I needed help to unpack my moving boxes and sort my stuff. And Lilla was the Hungarian Marie Kondo. She did really put my stuff together in a nice, tidy and decorative way, which made my messy home look like home. She also sewed curtains (in hand) for the rooms. She stayed for 13 days and was incredibly effective and self driven. Besides Lilla is super nice. She is very interested in history, culture and literature. She likes to hike in the nature. So she is easy going and can entertain herself. But she is definitely also good company you wouldn't miss. I learned so much about Hungary, and Lilla is engaging and exciting. Lilla has much empathy and our cat loved her. She is also very loyal, and asked to stay at home and finishing her tasks or take another tour to Oslo, she preferred to finish her tasks. This sense of duty is a rare treasure. Lilla is a true pearl. I can only give her my best recommendations. And she is, of course, very welcome back any time!

Beth is an excellent and dedicated worker, so much so that she did much more than asked for, unfortunately she then resented it and left, furious, without notice. I then managed to talk to her and she complained about everybody that was there, including me... I talked to the people she complaint against and they never knew something was wrong... Same with me. She simply took on much more than requested, bottled up, exploded and left. She says she has had only bad experiences in volunteer work, for me it is a clear indicator the hosts are not the problem. It is a shame, since she could be an asset to any host if ahe just voiced her many frustrations, mostly created by her. I really do wish she has some self observation and she could really enjoy the experience.

Daniela joined the olive harvest for 10 days and we wish we would have been able to host her longer! Her presence was immediately noticeable: she is a hard working and easy-going person who brings a smile with her everywhere she goes. She showed an impressive capacity to adapt, integrating the project right away, and, being a fast learner, she picked up in minutes the complex task of laying nets. Daniela's work ethic and maturity is exemplary, and we very much appreciated her enthusiasm. She was a very valued team member, putting her heart and soul into what she does, and she contributed in many ways to our project during her time here. We very much enjoyed her desire to connect with other people and to engage in activities and conversations.  For any host who get the chance for Daniela to reach out to them, I would say yes! with blind eyes, and would be looking forward to sharing time with such a wonderful human being. Thank you with all our heart, Daniela, for joining us this season! Until we meet again :)

Marlene and Steven are very friendly, helpful, and hardworking people. Our group at the table was also cheerful, engaged, and full of interesting topics, and everyone was friendly and supportive. Thank you for the time we spent with them. It was only for a week, which we usually consider too short, but it was still a very good decision. They settled in immediately and were a great asset to our other volunteers as well.

I spent just over 2 weeks with Jonna, doing DIY jobs on the land while the rest of the family was away visiting family. The work was interesting and built my confidence in my own DIY ability, and was also rewarding seeing their future vision come to life. The working hours were completely flexible to suit what I wanted to do outside of the finca, and the homecooked meals were delicious (best eggs ever!) The property was tranquil and made a great base to rest and reset. Jonna had a warm, and friendly presence, which I also felt from the rest of the family when I briefly met them. Bella, her dog, was a total sweetheart and made the days even better. They were also very generous with letting me use the car when I please, which enabled me to really explore Tenerife in my free time, including climbing Mount Teide for sunrise — Jonna recommended it, and it turned out to be one of my favourite experiences on the island. Highly recommend!

Philipp is a lovely and caring person. It was a pleasure to spend a few weeks on this beautiful farm, learning new things both at work and through conversations. Philippe is calm, inclusive, and a good teacher, which is much appreciated. I wish him every success in realizing his dreams and passions, because he is a person with wonderful values! Perhaps we'll meet again :D
