I truly enjoyed my time of about two weeks with Melissa! I was outside a lot, going on fall hikes, visting local museums or just relaxing with the animals. I was able to meet many lovely people like Melissa's landlords, her friends and other people from the community. Melissa also hosted a soap making workshop and dance classes I could take part in, which was really fun! I joined Melissa's landlord in some activities too and was able to find some treasures at the local reuse center. My room was very cozy with nice views and my tasks were pretty diverse like watering the green house, splitting wood, organising things, taking photos for Melissa's small business, and so much more. If you're open to try out new things and enjoy being outside away from big cities, I'm sure you'll have a great time! This was my first time trying out workaway and it definitely made me want to do more in the future! Thank you Melissa and everyone else for making me feel welcome.

We really loved Laura stay with us for about a month. She was only planning to visit for 2 weeks, but due to a cancellation, we were lucky enough for her to stay another fortnight....to be honest we wish it was longer. Laura's English is excellent, so communication was easy and all the work she did was done to a high level and how we wanted it. She got on well with our other visitor, friends and family and had a great sense of humour too. Jobs included working in a not for profit native plant nursery, tree planting, sanding the cottage in preparation for painting, collecting mulch and manure, general gardening, weeding, picking and processing fruit, veges and herbs, cleaning, helping with meals and doing dishes. She was confident in the kitchen and cooked us some delicious meals! Laura was proactive and if we hadn't assigned a job, she would find work that needed doing and got on with it. She was also very active in her spare time....going on hikes, surfing, swimming, etc. She got the most out of every day. Laura was great fun to have around, she brightened our lives and became part of our family while here. We miss her already and hope she visits again some time soon. We wholeheartedly recommend Laura to other prospective hosts.

Evann & Mathilde were amazing to host in May 2025, we really enjoyed their company, enthusiasm and kindness towards our children and pets. We had never done this before so we were very happy to get such a kind and helpful couple. Evann and Mathilde really got stuck into our gardens, helped with our pets and even babysat for us so we could have a dinner out (which never happens)! We already miss them and want them back haha, one day we hope to visit France and stay with them. We would consider them long distance friends now and still keep in touch.

On arrival I was informed that they CAN”T COOK and don’t like it (at the time their profile stated that they prepare meals). They agreed to do the cleaning in the house. They vacuumed the house the day they arrived and the day they left. (Because I asked). They stayed for 25 days. The first week was fine, they cleaned the kitchen, laundry, lounge and the windows in the lounge. We agreed that they can stay till they bought a Van to travel with. They stayed with us for 25 days. I asked them to walk the dog and they came back after 5 minutes and said the dog doesn’t want to walk. Merlow is only 3 years old and he likes to “sniff” (like most dogs do) on his walk. It’s a stop and start walk in the beginning. They showed no interest in Merlow, Their profile said they are good with animals. I let them make Coffee Mugs for themselves in my Pottery Studio and fired it for them. For a week they helped in the Art Studio, We went out of our way to help them find a Van, Matt spend an afternoon fixing the leaky windows in the Van. The last week they hardly did any constructive work. When I asked them why they didn’t do the tasks I asked them to do they said they forgot. We told them we are making Burgers for Dinner Friday night, we bought special Vegetarian patties , they went out with friends not telling us they will not have dinner with us. It was Makena’s last night , she is from America and wanted to share a meal from her country with us. Their behaviour and attitude the last week really disappointed us.

Mel was awesome to have at our place. She is amazing with all the animals, hard working and just loves to bake!! We were never without a beautiful or delicious dessert. She is a talented artist as well and helped make new beautiful signs for our farm!! We would recommend her to any host!! Hopefully she will come back at some point!!

it’s so impossibly hard to put into words how blessed i was to come across this place all those months ago. i stayed here for 7 weeks- 3 weeks longer than i planned to, because i just couldn’t leave such a paradise. shelly is one of the most amazing women i’ve ever met, so so kind and welcoming, and her whole family made the place feel more like home than i ever could have expected. the volunteers alongside me became very very close friends, and i will never ever forget the family i had here. the work was so chill, mostly consisting of check ins, turning rooms over, and cleaning (but not deep cleaning!). we had so much free time to explore around, and i ended up seeing so much of the towns and beaches all around :) which are gorgeous, and have a wonderful local vibe. the kitchen is great and we all cooked basically every night- very well stocked! i cannot possibly recommend this place enough- i’m coming back asap to visit, and i know it won’t be my last time ;) i made so many unforgettable memories during my time here, made friends for life. without a doubt this was the best month and a half of my life, so thank you thank you thank you shelly!! your kindness and love is instilled in me permanently now, and i will always remember this little family i had, however brief. pura vida <3

I really enjoyed my time with Natalie and Ioanna! The property is lovely and I enjoyed helping out around the house, especially taking care of their beautiful cats and kittens. Their whole family is so accommodating, easy to get along with and have a great sense of humour. Natalie and Ioanna felt like family to me, thank you for creating such a special experience in the Netherlands🥹

I stayed at the camp for two months and had the best summer ever. My tasks were mainly cleaning and washing dishes in the restaurant. Usually, I only worked in the mornings and evenings, so I had plenty of time during the day to enjoy the outdoor activities. I lived in a tent right next to the river, which was great. I got one free meal every workday, and it was always delicious. I always felt well taken care of throughout my stay. The outdoor activities offered were amazing, I was able to go kayaking, rafting, and canyoning and had so much fun. Nearby, you can also go skydiving, paragliding, bungee jumping, and ziplining in the beautiful Soča Valley. We also visited some cool festivals, which were always amazing with the team. The campsite is located right by the river, perfect for swimming, with beautiful hikes to waterfalls and gorges. I was instantly welcomed by the staff and made many new friends there. I would always come back to this place, it was the best decision ever :)

Laura is a kind, sociable, and sweet girl. It’s pleasant to spend time with her. She was very responsible with her tasks. We definitely recommend her and hope to welcome her again soon!

We REALLY enjoyed our time with Yvette. The farm is a very relaxing, tranquil and peaceful place in which we felt comfortable and able to help. Tasks were simple, varied and time flexible. The Accomodation was one of the best we've experienced whilst volunteering - spacious, comfortable, clean and perfectly equipped. We are on a long trip, our 10 days here really helped us to slow down and feel grounded. The walk into town is all up hill, with the joy of walking back down hill. Definitely bring provisions with you, plenty of fridge space and all the equipment you need. Yvette is a kind, gentle and quiet lady, this is reflected across the entire experience. Highly recommend

I had a great experience staying with Larry and Oscar in Monteverde. They run a 4-apartment Bnb complex, and the volunteer work mainly involves helping ensure everything runs smoothly with guests. They have a professional cleaning company, so volunteers don’t do the cleaning, but instead coordinate with Oscar for basic maintenance, laundry, and anything that comes up. During my stay it was low season, so we also took the opportunity to paint the rooms, but there’s always something useful to do. The atmosphere is relaxed, organized, and very fair. Larry is a fantastic bassist, and I even had the chance to see him play, a really special moment. He and Oscar make a perfect working team: kind, responsible, and always willing to help. Monteverde itself is an amazing place to experience nature, wildlife, and the stunning trees (especially the ficus/higuerón). Oscar is always happy to recommend the best spots to explore. Overall, a great Workaway experience… highly recommended!

Luana from Italy stayed with us for a few days, and even in that short time she proved how talented, reliable, and genuinely kind she is. She is well-educated, very active, and loves sports and outdoor activities. She also has a strong interest in yoga and practices it well. Because she is physically fit and energetic, she can handle any task with ease. She helped us inside the house, in the garden, and especially in the kitchen—Kusum found it very easy to prepare food with her support. We had many great conversations, and she is always eager to learn new things. If you are looking for an active, positive, and friendly volunteer, we highly recommend Luana. She will be an asset to any host. We wish her all the best on her future travels!

Where do I even begin?? 
Our stay at the finca was truly an adventure in every sense. From sunrise excursions to the occasional puppy-chaos moment (yes, even the surprise vomit), there was never a dull moment. Before choosing to stay with Pia, make sure you read her profile thoroughly, her finca is not a luxury air bnb and thank god for that! Even after doing that, we still found ourselves in plenty of unexpected situations, but honestly, that’s part of the charm of being here. And Pia….wow. She is one of the most fascinating, resilient humans I’ve ever met. I already miss our late-night girl talks and bonding over tea (two sugars always). Talking with her kind of rewires you; she creates this space where you drop all the formalities and just show up as your real, unfiltered self. I also got the chance to help train two absolutely stunning horses, and watching how Pia works with her animals,so much patience, mutual respect, and genuine love… it was something I’ll carry with me forever. Our evenings together at the finca were so special. The hardest part was leaving. You get so attached to the animals that it feels like saying goodbye to family. Cozmín and Dalcó will absolutely steal your heart. After our time there, I left feeling humbled, healthier, and way more appreciative of the simple things in life. Thank you, Pia, for everything. I spent two weeks here and had a great time. It was gratifying. Not for the faint-hearted, but a great, challenging experience that will make you grow as a person. I enjoyed the relaxed and flexible communication with Ron and Val, and would recommend the experience to others.

Edith stayed 10 days at home together with Tommi, and it was a great experience to host her. She was kind, friendly and always respectful, with very clear communication and a positive attitude. She adapted easily to the rhythm of the house and was available to help when needed. Regarding the tasks, Edith was very helpful with the work in the garden and around the property: gardening tasks, dismantling pallets, helping to create a germination table and some housework. All tasks were done with care and good energy, and we had time to enjoy conversations about Lanzarote, flora and the different projects happening here. Also to play boardgames and had some dinner together. Many thanks Edith! You’re welcome back anytime.

Maja was the best cooker ever of the volunteers, she is vegetarian and can do the simple things been the most gourmet and delicious! i just love her easy going energy, very pro active, she was allways attention, good talking and responsabilite, i realy hope to meet Maja again! my family miss her! For sure i recomend her like a very good volunteer!! thanks for every thing!!!

I’d like to thank Murphy for the opportunity to spend two incredible weeks at this unique place, in the company of lovely human beings 🤍 I truly appreciate all the laughs and conversations, the creative spirit, and the most delicious food which you’ll also have a chance to make if you will be lucky enough to help Murphy cook for other volunteers. And if you’ll be lucky enough to work in the garden, you’ll meet Didier, a handyman with the kindest heart, who is just a joy to be around and work with. You’ll also be able to practice French and perfect English! Overall, staying at this chateau is an unforgettable experience, highly recommended for everyone who values authenticity and art, human connection, and the most beautiful memories. Merci! x

Tommi stayed a bit more than two weeks at home, in October - November. This was his first Workaway experience and he was enthusiatic and had a very positive attitude. He was friendly, respectful and easy to communicate with at all times. Regarding the tasks, Tommi was very helpful with the maintenance of the botanical garden: removing parasites, watering the plants, collecting and organizing material, and helping to create an elevated germination table with pallets so we now have a proper place to multiply plants. He worked with care and curiosity, always willing to learn more. We also had good conversations, played board games with my friends and family and had some dinners together. He showed genuine interest in the project. During his stay, everything at home went smoothly—there are a few simple house rules, and he followed them perfectly. Many thanks Tommi! Peter stayed with us for over 3 months, he is a very committed and enthusiastic teacher for children of all ages. During his stay he taught older students classes in English language and basic concepts of commerce, with the younger children he helped them with basic English words and concepts. Peter also did a lot of one to one support with children who needed additional support in English listening, speaking and reading. During out of school hours with the hostel boys he participated and played sports, including badminton and soccer. Peter also actively took part in all the festivals, religious and cultural events and well as social gatherings with other volunteers and the care home residents. In the community he got involved in distributing food to the needy in rural villages. Peter also visited nearby villages with the medical team to treat local people. As Peter was a long standing volunteer who stayed with us over 3 months he is missed by the children, staff and campus staff. We hope Peter will return someday again. Thank you Peter.

Partho stayed for a month. He was eager to help and show how versatile he could be. I noticed from his profile that he seemed more intellectual than manual but he still tried .he was really good with the children and very clean and tidy
