We stayed with Oscar for 2 weeks. He was very welcoming and generous. We worked for 4 hours a day helping around the project, digging holes, picking coffee, and just generally maintaining the farm. The facilities are basic, however, they are more than adequate. The area is lovely and the slower pace of life than the city makes it very easy to relax, plus there's always a dog to keep you company! We cannot reccomend this highly enough! Thank you Oscar!

We loved getting to know Carla. She has a bright and sunny personality and was a great friend to our dogs, who she spoiled with attention! They were lucky to go on many walks together and Carla did every task asked of her during the stay. Enjoy your travels Carla!

We stayed a couple of weeks here. We felt very welcomed since the beginning. Gerard and Patricia are very kind and easy going people. We learned a lot about gardening, nutrition and life! Amazing to cross paths with such inspiring people... and the house is a dream🥰

Lotta and Nelly came to us for their first workaway experience and stayed for 2 weeks. They enjoyed being with our 7 dogs and the dogs loved them back. They helped to feed and water our many animals and helped us with our olive harvest. They helped with meal preparations and the washing up. Their first introduction to workawaying was to help us lay a new concrete floor in our tortoise house, which they did well. We all enjoyed the experience.

Essendo la mia prima esperienza di Workaway ero un po’ preoccupato su chi avrei potuto incontrare e su come mi sarei potuto trovare. Invece con Isabella sin da subito c’è stata una sintonia che mi ha fatto vivere tutto il periodo con tranquillità e spensieratezza. Lei è molto gentile nell’aiutarti su tutto: ti accompagna con la sua auto, ti dà consigli su come muoverti in Costa Rica e ti prepara del buonissimo cibo con amore. Giocare con suo figlio è stato qualcosa di speciale, che mi ha fatto ritornare bambino. La casa si trova immersa nella Natura. Questo mi ha dato la possibilità di allontanarmi totalmente dalla frenesia della città e dallo stress della vita quotidiana. Mi sento davvero fortunato ad aver incontrato Isabella e suo figlio per la mia prima esperienza di workaway. Ci ritornerei molto volentieri perché mi hanno fatto sentire a casa. Grazie ancora.

Kristle helped at my home for one week, she is lovely. She took care of the cats feeding them, and always behaved very very gently with them. Pasha especially loved her a lot. Kristle also took care of the dog, Kokoro, feeding and walking him two times every day, and also Kokoro loved her. During the time i was out she made bread and did some extra cleaning that i appreciated a lot, especially the spider nets she cleared.....You can absolutely trust Kristle: she is smart, sweet, and willing to help, three qualities that you will love. Thank you Kristle!

Lukas is a fantastic traveller who stayed with us for two weeks. He was an absolute pleasure to have around, always willing to lend a hand and jump into tasks with enthusiasm. Lukas is a great team player, and his positive energy is infectious. He quickly integrated into our small family. His work ethic is impressive, and he tackled every task with dedication and a smile and even built an amazing dry wall! I'd highly recommend Lukas to any host looking for a reliable and friendly workawayer. He's a great addition to any team, and we'd be happy to have him back anytime, hopefully in January!

My experience at Ollie’s was just what I’d hoped! I felt immediately welcomed and at home; he has an amazing property and everything feels intentional. I arrived on the weekend and had the time free to enjoy the yoga dome and meditation platform; being in these spaces felt like a reset. The work felt very fair and I liked that I had autonomy to choose when to do it. I enjoyed chatting with Ollie around the kitchen and joining him and other workawayers heading to the beach after we were finished for the day. I’d happily go back next time I’m in the area!

Marianne and Zoe were an absolute joy to have with us during their three weeks here. From day one, they showed incredible organization, responsibility, and initiative in every task they took on. Whether it was helping with daily duties or supporting us with various digital tasks, they were always proactive, efficient, and highly reliable. What made their stay truly special was the positive energy they brought. Both were constantly smiling, always in a good mood, and created a fun, relaxed atmosphere that everyone appreciated , staff and guests alike. They blended perfectly into our team and made each day lighter and more enjoyable. We had a wonderful time with them and we are grateful for all their help. I would happily recommend Marianne and Zoe to anyone looking for organized, proactive, and uplifting team members. Any place would be lucky to host them.

Sandra was an absolute delight to have on our team. She is incredibly dedicated, organized, and attentive — especially when it comes to cleaning and keeping everything in perfect order. Her attention to detail is outstanding, and she consistently went above and beyond to make sure our spaces were welcoming, comfortable, and well-maintained. But what truly sets Sandra apart is the heart she brings into everything she does. She has a natural warmth that makes people feel at home instantly. For many of our staff and guests, she became a kind of “mom figure” — someone who listens, supports, brings people together, and creates a sense of family wherever she is. Her presence added a special feeling to the hostel that we all appreciated deeply. I would fully recommend Sandra to anyone looking for a reliable, hardworking, and genuinely caring person. She brings both professionalism and warmth, and any team would be incredibly lucky to have her.

It was a precious time in my life that I would never trade for anything else. Meeting Micaela and John is a lifelong treasure. I lived with volunteers from all over the world with completely different backgrounds, and there's nothing more luxurious than starting each morning with delicious coffee and fresh orange juice. Every day, I thought about what work to do and what I was good at. Micaela, John, and my fellow volunteers allowed me to experience things I'd never done before and they teach me everything very well. I met so many wonderful people here that I can't even begin to describe them all. I looked forward to breakfast, lunch, and the countless delicious dinners every day! And the smell of freshly baked cake wafting into my room. Just remembering it makes me want to go back. It's definitely one of the greatest memories of my life. I'll definitely be back! Thank you so much! I miss you so much!

Eben is truly one of the kindest and most genuine people you’ll ever meet — always smiling, always positive, and always bringing an incredibly proactive attitude to everything he does. He spent about a month with us supporting reception, housekeeping, and bartending, and he excelled in every area. His work ethic is outstanding: he consistently performed at a very high level, anticipated what needed to be done, and often helped out even when it wasn’t expected of him. Beyond his skills, Eben is simply a joy to have around. He creates a great atmosphere, gets along with everyone, and brings a calm, friendly energy that lifts the whole team. He was always willing to jump in, solve problems, and support others, and we were truly grateful to have him with us. I would wholeheartedly recommend Eben to anyone looking for a reliable, hardworking, and genuinely wonderful person. Any team would be lucky to have him. We love you Ebenjeee

The organization is poor, many times I didn't know what to do and neither did the person I was in charge off. It says in the page that there are "specialized people" from which I was supposed to learn, the reality is I have been 95% percent of the time working alone and doing braindead tasks. About the agriculture experience, it is in charge of someone who doesn't actually belong to the organization so, whenever I tried to do something there, I was told not to do it because he is a "furbo". As the page said, there are around 12 people living there, most of them over their 50s and single. The environment was awkward, I witnessed a few fights between cohabitants, I had a few uncomfortable moments as well, one day I woke up and one of the residents parked his car in front of mine so I couldn't go out just because I took and empty parking spot. Let's say it nicely, there are some people that #redacted#. Don't expect to make friendships there, everyone have their own lives and most you can do is just having a good report with the people there. Unpaid job disguised as a volunteering. The host requests more time than what is said on their page, 30 hours of effective work, I say effective because when I couldn't do anything outside because it was raining and I didn't know what to do because the guy I'm in charge of was gone, I counted the time anyways as worked. When I told the host, he responded passive-aggressively with an iconic sentence" "Credo che in Italia del Nord abbiamo una visione molto diversa di cosa voglia dire lavorare..." which basically means that because of my origins I don't understand the Northern italian work mentality. I don't think the Northern Italians would do extra hours in a job just because no one told them what to do but maybe that's just me. I could write way way more about my whole experience but I run out of characters, honorary mention to Giovanna and Brunello for being nice to me.

I’ve stayed at Jonathan and Teresa’s finca for about two months in total. This is truly the kind of place where you are always welcome and where you always want to come back. That’s exactly what happened to me — my first stay was in May, then I went to Aragón for several weeks, and returned with great pleasure. For me it was a retreat-like experience, because most of the week I was alone or together with other volunteers, taking care of the animals and the beautiful garden. There are two caravans on the land, located far enough from each other to ensure privacy for everyone. Usually Jonathan, Teresa and their little sunny princess Alicia came during the weekends (the perfect balance between privacy and social life, volunteers and hosts — honestly the best I’ve ever experienced!), always bringing obvious barbecue vibes!!! And then the magic begins: Jonathan, as the true head of the family, cooks incredibly delicious meals! Teresa, a true Mother Teresa, treats you with small but very tasty sweets! And little Princess of the Sun Alicia somehow manages to be everywhere at the same time, always carrying berries, flowers, fruits and felt-tip pens! And of course Dingo — the kindest dog I’ve ever met, who became a real close friend of mine! I want to say an incredibly big thank you for everything — for the trust, for the hospitality, and simply for the time I spent with you!!!

Es difícil saber por dónde empezar después de tantos buenos momentos pasados en casa de Vicky. Pensaba quedarme dos semanas, pero al final me fui al cabo de dos meses. Aquí no faltan actividades, no hay tiempo para aburrirse, pero tampoco hay presión, solo placer. Entre las tareas que realicé, recogí manzanas para luego hacer jugo, participé en la organización de una fiesta organizada por el colectivo al que pertenece Vicky, recolecté semillas de árboles nativos, planté, trasplanté, cultivé... todo ello en un entorno absolutamente espléndido. Vicky me recibió en su bonita casa, donde enseguida me sentí como en casa. Vicky es una anfitriona increíble. Compartimos muchos momentos muy enriquecedores, buenas comidas, conversaciones muy interesantes sobre la cultura de Chile, su historia, las plantas... aprendí tanto, fue una auténtica alegría. Tuve la suerte de conocer a muchos amigos de Vicky, todos ellos muy simpáticos. Estos dos meses fueron mucho más que un simple voluntariado, fue una experiencia increíblemente enriquecedora y, sobre todo, un encuentro maravilloso. ¡Gracias por todo, Vicky, espero verte pronto!

I spent more than a month of great time here, and can't imagine a better place for my first Workaway experience. Nina is amazing. She explained everything i needed to do there, the work is not hard at all, basically some general help and maintenance tasks, so i had a lot of time to go to the city and enjoy my time there. A single room is provided for the volunteer, also food for breakfast - and place and equipment to do your dinner, so no need to go to expensive restaurants. To have a great time from small budget is absolutely possible. The seaside is literally 250 meter from the Hostel. 💯 % recommended for future volunteers!

It was a great experience ✨ Bettina is such a kind and thoughtful person! Always respectful and never imposing. She’s incredibly open-minded, traveled a lot so she has a lot of interesting conversations :) she doesn’t hesitate to share her culture or to engage in meaningful conversations on a variety of topics, which was really helpful for me in some subjects specifically 😇 I really enjoyed my stay with Bettina and her family they immediately made me feel like part of their family. Little by little, I started to find my own routine with each family member Alicia, Arianna and Patrick . I truly appreciated the conversations we had and especially the kindness and warmth that exist within the family and that they radiate. I really enjoyed the time we spent together 😇

It was great having Benni stay with us, even though we were both quite busy at the time and did not have a huge amount of time to sit and yarn. Benni weeded, mowed, laid pavers with Peter and cooked. He was very respectful of our home and we highly recommend him as a house guest and worker. We wish you all the best in your travels.

Thank you Rafa for your calm careful help. I completely enjoyed having your company, and admire the way you were able to take some other volunteers silly behaviour in your stride and stay centred For prospective hosts, with clear and precise instruction Rafa will try his hand at anything, he prefers to work with a mentor and as he is new to this kind of physical intuitive work he needs help and feedback. Rafa was very appreciative of the extremely simple meals and made me feel appreciated for the meals I provided. He helped with garden work, olive harvest, and lots of little jobs in between Thank you for you quiet peaceful company

I got to spend a total of 1.5 months with Bruce and Louise and it was truly incredible. They're both such warm and welcoming people, and they made me feel like a part of their family in a short amount of time. They took the time to figure out my interests and tailored the work I did toward those which I greatly appreciated, and I got to learn a variety of new skills in farming and woodworking. The daily schedule was well-balanced and more than fair, and I looked forward to every smoko overlooking their beautiful property and socializing with them. It'd be unfair not to mention all of their amazing animals, with the dogs Django & Prilly, and Tigger the cat, earning a special place in my heart. I was lucky enough to go on a handful of hikes with Louise, even backpacking overnight to the pinnacles which was a highlight of my trip, and her love for the outdoors and exploring it is inspiring to say the least. She is such a joy to be around, and it is obvious she deeply cares for all of those around her. Bruce and I got to do several projects together, the most notable and fun I'd say was building an outdoor table. He is such a fun character to be around and an incredible teacher in a variety of subjects. Together they made my stay very memorable and honestly hard to leave, but I would recommend to anyone looking for a unique, outdoorsy, and family-oriented stay on a farm outside of Pukekohe.
