Hina is a delight. From the moment she arrived to her departure, we enjoyed her company and excellent work ethic. What did she do? Her duties were to document life from a volunteer's POV with photography and upload them to a shared database. She participated with all other aspects of life here, including organizing and cleaning up after breakfasts, lunch and dinner, help cleaning the kitchen, sanding and painting a renovated room, and clean up with another room post-demolition. She has an elegant and tidy personality. We hope she will return. It was an honor to have her join our team for 2 short weeks!

Neil and Tracy are a spectacular couple: full of knowledge about community projects, especially construction and life on the road. They have big hearts and always try to experience the local way of life as much as possible. We were sad to see them go, but such is life!

I'm hoping I could write so many things about this amazing teacher. She arrived carrying an enormous spirit, and she managed to push through the challenges of adapting to a completely new environment, one so different from what she was used to. After five days of trying to stay strong with so much struggle with the weather and another thing with such high enthusiasm, she finally found herself in an extraordinary experience and she is reaching a distant mountain area that was challenging, remote, and so unlike anything she had known before. There were so many things we did together, and every moment held deep meaning with Sara. I could describe her as a girl with an incredibly pure, kind, and adaptive soul. Her strong desire to contribute to the world of education shone so beautifully when she blended with the children in that remote mountain village during the three days we spent there with the amazing education volunteer community as everyone can see the activities on IG Then we returned to Belopa, continued with a very full schedule, from early morning, through the afternoon, evening, and even into the night. We were diving into all kinds of educational activities with our kindergarteners, elementary and high school students in English class, and then blending into the everyday joys of life: laughing together, eating fresh mangoes straight from the tree, singing karaoke, tasting Luwu’s traditional foods, dancing to eastern Indonesian songs at a wedding, singing and practicing Indonesian songs such as Tabola-Bale, Ngapain Repot, Kangen, Kapan Lagi, etc. Also were spending time playing badminton, riding motorbikes, or relaxing by the sea while enjoying Indonesian-style fried snacks. And of course, savoring delicious coffee at some of our favorite cafe. Dear Sara, I hope you’ll come back to Belopa and once again embrace all the challenges and inspirations we shared—because we will always miss you and will always be in my heart, in Belopa's heart. Much love, Your madam

My first Workaway experience at Deborah and Keith’s place was an absolute dream. They are incredibly welcoming, kind, and full of interesting and funny stories. I truly enjoyed my time there and felt at home right away. I’ll definitely miss the delicious meals they cooked for us, and even more so the eight wonderful dogs who brought so much extra joy and spark to the whole experience. I’m very grateful for the time I had there and can only recommend staying with them!

It was a delight to host Francesco, who had his first work away experience in our family. Right from the first message we read of him until the last hug goodbye it was a mere pleasure to have him around. From the very first moment, he was warm and open, proactive, and very helpful. Our girls enjoyed spending time with him, and his already good German surely improved even more through all the play situations. We had entertaining conversations about the quirks of our languages and he taught us some Italian too. Francesco is an extremely active person — with gym workouts, surf lessons, plus physical activities on the finca, he was certainly well occupied. He helped us maintain different areas here, plowed the field, assisted with installing irrigation systems, planted trees, cooked wonderful meals, and happily completed every task we had for him to our complete satisfaction. He also explored the island thoroughly and drives confidently through mountains and valleys — and on our island, it’s mostly mountains ;-) Our kitchen talks will never be forgotten! It wasn’t necessarily planned, but he was also able to acquire some very practical knowledge about natural remedies. THANK YOU for your help, your friendly nature, and your gift for being observant and remembering things. Thank you for the many conversations about everything under the sun. All the best!

Sorry for the late feedback as the technical problems. This is my first Workaway experience with Petra, she is really nice and makes me feel like home. I miss you, grandma Hanna , Bently a lot!!! I still remember the night we had campfire and using the sticks to barbecue the bread. The daily tasks are clear to follow, mainly gardening. When Petra has free time, she showed me around and even brought me to the sunflower field. I really enjoy staying with them. I hope you all the best.

Had a beautiful two weeks in Umbria with Sam, Trina, and Alix, and a lovely group of people. The farm is large and plenty of things to do. We laughed a lot at the dinner table and enjoyed Sam's delicious cooking. I felt very comfortable and at home, the host family are very authentic, interesting, and intelligent, which made the whole experience stress free and enjoyable. I had a wonderful time and I'm very grateful.

I absolutely loved staying with Jan, Judith, Lua and Davi, and I absolutely love them. I felt welcome and comfortable right from the start. During my stay I helped with the foundation of the yoga stuga/”wooden yurt”, I (mostly) worked alongside Jan, which was really nice as he is very passionate about the work he does, he told or showed me what to do, and, if needed, how to do it and was always nearby (if not working on the same thing) for questions or assistance. Both Jan and Judith are such enthusiastic, positive, inspiring, kind and interesting people. I have learned a lot from them, not only in terms of the work I got to do for the project, but also (mostly) from the way they communicate, their experiences, the way they live and their view(s) on life. I really felt like I was part of the family, they took me on (their family) outings and I got to join Judith’s yoga sessions, which I very much enjoyed. I loved spending time with Lua and Davi, they are full of energy and a pleasure to be around. I truly think they are amazing and I really hope we will see each other again. Thanks again for everything!

Flore and Bram are really kind, welcoming, and were very easy to be with! I loved the work, which consisted mostly of painting the house, and had more than enough time to explore the (stunning) surroundings. They made sure I was comfortable, could get around, provided me with recommendations and made sure I did not make too long working days. I am incredibly grateful for the time I got to spend in Käl, and would love to go back some time.

Mark was our very first Workawayer, and we were truly happy to meet him. He was always responsible, respectful, and very easy to communicate with. He approached every task with positivity and dedication, and he quickly became a real part of our team. During the olive harvest, we had local workers helping us as well, and none of them spoke English. Still, Mark managed to communicate with them in his own way, and together they created a great team spirit. His presence really made the work more enjoyable, and after he left, we definitely felt his absence. He helped us so much in the garden and around the house, always willing to learn and support whenever needed. We also enjoyed spending time together during meals and conversations. By the time he left, he had become almost a pro at picking olives 😄 We even promised each other to meet again next season during the harvest. We would be very happy to host him again anytime. Thank you, Mark, for your hard work, kindness, and great energy. Safe travels—and see you next year!

Daniel stayed at my place 2 great weeks. It was a real pleasure to host him as he is very happy, always doing his very best to please and help in any kind of way. I needed help with hedge cutting and it was not easy, but Daniel managed on his own and did a very good job. In the evenings, Daniel prepared delicious dinners, which were very appreciated as I really do not have much time in the evening to cook after work. We had very interesting discussions on all kinds of subjects, during dinner time and even some lunches, among others, buddhism which is my religion. Daniel came the first day and shared a very known mantra "Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha" not knowing I recite this mantra almost every week ! It was a very good omen and I am sure Daniel will do very good in life. I warmly recommand him for further workaway experiences !

We volunteered here for 2 weeks in July 2025. We have done alot of volunteering around the world and this is by far our favourite experience. The passion and care towards the animals from Fred, the staff and long term volunteers Eva and Gurvan is unmatched. It's a really special experience monitoring the behaviour and caring for the monkeys and to see them progress in such a short time. They each have their own personalities. Being disconnected from the world in this little slice of paradise, with family meals, friendly people and a shared mission was amazing !! We loved our time here and recommend it to everyone we meet along our travels

We spent 10 amazing days here and we had such an amazing time! the work is physically demanding however so rewarding. it's incredible to watch the sanctuary that Jessica and Kishore have built for the dogs. it's important to note that while you do get to spend time and cuddle the dogs, most of the work is cleaning poop and walking the dogs, so you will get tired and dirty especially when it's hot (this is already mentioned in the profile) however it's so rewarding to watch the dogs always so happy and excited to see you (sometimes a little too excited!). the lunches are so yummy and we really enjoyed the pizza nights and burgers from the stall with the other volunteers. we highly recommend this Workaways, thanks so much Jessica and Kishore!

Mitzi minded our house and cat Pancake for 4 weeks through Workaway. She was a wonderful person to have stay and we felt very lucky to have found her on this site. Nothing is too much trouble for Mitzi and she was always offering to help out. She is polite, easy to talk to and always has a great attitude. We had just moved into an old house and despite it being quite basic and often cold, she didn't once complain. Our cat, who is very wary of strangers loved her and she sent lots of pictures during the sit. He was definitely sad to see her go :) We would highly recommend Mitzi to anyone looking for a Workaway person and we will hopefully see her again sometime!

She was truly one of the best workers we have ever hosted — unforgettable, just like Jasmine, another wonderful girl from the UK. Among all the people who have stayed with us, she stands out as someone exceptionally caring, proactive, and genuinely devoted. While many Western workers rarely offer help even when I’m cooking in the kitchen, she was completely different. She always looked around, noticed what needed to be done, and stepped in without being asked. Her dedication to our dogs was beyond anything we’ve experienced before. She spent 4–5 hours on walks, sometimes even longer, simply because she wanted to give the dogs the best time. We’ve had people who loved dogs, but no one has ever invested so much time and care into them. Most workers use a bicycle for the walks, but she chose to walk slowly at Hanabi’s pace — patiently, gently, never rushing. We’ve even had workers who rode the bike too fast and dragged the dog just to finish the walk quickly… but she was the complete opposite. To our dogs, she must have felt like a goddess. Her cleaning was also incredibly thorough. She vacuumed every corner carefully, and the teamwork between her and Charlie (the worker from Hong Kong who stayed at the same time) was amazing. Thanks to their coordination, the morning tasks were finished faster and faster each day. She didn’t seem to like seafood that much, although she really enjoyed the fish-cake with octopus. She didn’t take much of the vegetable-only dishes, but she could basically eat everything, and the balance with Charlie — who loved vegetables — worked out perfectly. It was actually quite funny. One thing I regret is that my work was extremely busy at the time, so I could only take her out on her very last day. And even though that day was also our big cleaning day and her departure day, she still helped us until the end. Afterwards, we all went out for a buffet lunch together, which became a very nice memory. She is a truly exceptional worker — hardworking, kind, proactive, and loved by all the dogs. We would welcome her back anytime with open arms.

Dear Heidi and Martin, I wish to thank you for your hospitality during my stay, I truly had an amazing time! I really enjoyed spending time in your beautiful garden, doing the various kinds of activities that came along the way, and taking cold showers under the big open sky. The scenery and the sunsets are something to behold. I have no words! Thank you so much for the delicious meals and for making all those weekend trips possible! I had the chance to see so many nice places I'd barely even heard of before: Pápa, Veszprém, Római-fürdő, Tés, Zalaszántó, Zalahaláp, Öreg-hegy, and Lovászpatona, of course. Discovering this area of my home country was an eye-opening experience and I'll be forever grateful for it. Wish you all the best, Dima

I spent only 5 days with Juan in the end of October as I already had a comittment for November when I found his place. I enjoyed my time with Juan and his 2 furry friends Rusty and no-name panter cat. He also has some chickens and a bursting veggiepatch that he made us some nice food from. Juan is a nice respectful guy that wont sell his soul. We had some good talks about how we see the world and what we can create for the future. He picked me up from the OVD airport. There was a comfy bed with clean sheets awaiting me after the long journey. We were about to go and get a cooler box together one day but got hungry on the way and had an amazing lunch typical for the Asturias region and had to go home and rest afterwards :) Thanks Juan! I look forward to come back soon!

I absolutely enjoyed sharing some daily life with Marthe and Wiggo and they immediately made me feel welcomed. They had been caring and available in any kind of situation and provided with everything I needed (from health related to food needs). The work was balanced and previously discussed and agreed, checking up with expectations and needs of each. In your free time you can also easily reach Bergen (the bus stop is literally in front of the property) but also consider all the opportunities that Wiggo and Marthe will offer you (I had my first climbing experience, and it was in Norway thanks to Wiggo!). Also, there’s the chance to engage in very interesting and deep conversations on many topics with all the people that may visit or may attend the beautiful events that Marthe organizes at the community house. I think It would be fun also travelling as a duo, so I advise you to really consider this option! In conclusion, If you are one or two open-minded workawayers wanting to help building a wonderful project and also wanting to connect with nature and re-connect with yourself and your values, this is the place! I hope to see you guys soon, thank you again for everything :) P.S. Say Hi to Alfred(o) for meee!! Emma<3
