Anna and Ari brought so much joy and light into our home. They jumped right into this year’s potato harvest—cutting and transporting grass to prepare the land surface, digging up potatoes, carrying, and sorting them—a task that’s anything but easy... especially for the ESQUENA! We’re so grateful for the hard work you approached each day with such bright smiles, and for sharing stories of your adventures from around the world. Beyond the fields, they also helped with preparing dinners, cleaning, and even separating szechuan peppercorns and seeds... tackling every task, big or small, with such enthusiasm and care. Thank you, too, for showering our animals with so much love. It’s been such a joy to continue seeing your beautiful photos, videos, and reflections on your time here with us on your instagram. I stayed at Claudine's place from September 7th to 14th, 2025, and had a wonderful time. The place is beautiful, and the atmosphere is one of calm and lush natural beauty. There are plenty of spots to practice the art of slowing down, in tune with the rhythms of nature. The description provides a lot of information on how things work, but once you enter through the gate, you realize how little city life aligns with eco-friendly living. Within the eco-village, there are precise rules to avoid waste and minimize environmental impact, and seeing them in practice is very instructive. I slept in a tent and one night in a bungalow (fantastic!). The daily work was intense but rewarding. Claudine explained the techniques with great care, adding helpful tips and even some yogic suggestions. I learned something new every day. I really appreciated the trust she placed in me and her feedback, which made me feel valued and special. There are communal areas, like the outdoor kitchen, yoga deck and the fire circle, where you meet many people from all over the world. ps: Anyway, in the end all the roosters were safely caught. 😄

I stayed here for two weeks and it was truly an amazing time. Everybody there was very nice, I felt welcomed from the beginning and really enjoyed the time there. You get to know many people, locals and travellers through the events that are there and the general hostel life. I got to know many new cooking experiences and also could bake in the kitchen what I want for the breakfast cakes, which I really enjoyed. You get a view into the local life, how to work in a hostel and it never gets boring there for sure. We grew together like a second family and I really felt home and comfortable there. I only can recommend this host to any other workaway. I will for sure return someday!

J'ai passé un mois avec Laurane, Ben et leur petite Anouk. C'était une expérience formidable et je me suis senti très à l'aise. Leur maison est dans un endroit magnifique, avec vue sur les montagnes et Lourdes. Nous cuisinions à tour de rôle, ils cuisinaient très bien et une fois, nous avons cuisiné ensemble des plats japonais (parce que nous aimons tous le Japon). J'aidais avec les poules, les travaux autour de la maison, les activités avec leur association (faire de la compote, une soirée pizza), les chiens, le chat, les brebis et les ânes et bien sûr Anouk. Les deux chiens (Norka et Puco) sont très gentils et adorent des caresses. Une fois, j'ai fait une grande randonnée avec eux jusqu'au Pic du Pibeste (c'était vraiment magnifique). Nous avons déplacé les brebis et les ânes plusieurs fois (une de mes tâches préférées et la première fois que j'ai fait quelque chose comme ça). Anouk est très mignonne et la plupart du temps heureuse (grâce à ça c'était facile et l'occuper). Laurane et Ben m'ont toujours fait participer et leurs amis sont également très sympathiques. C'était ma première expérience Workaway et je ne pense pas que j'aurais pu la faire dans un meilleur endroit.

Kelly and Gabriel spend a short time with us, but they did a great job cleaning and organizing the house, and clearing up the forest to allow our oak trees to grow. They're very friendly and easy going and I'm looking forward to hosting them again. Bom caminho!

I spent almost 2 weeks with the lovely Ellie. She mostly helped me with the land fencing and was very serious and meticulous with the work. She is discreet, respectful and the moments we spent together where nice moments of exchange. She liked to take walks in the forest with my dog Avaï, which also helped me! Thank you for everything and have a great trip :)

Mily is an absolute gem of a person.. warm, creative, and full of initiative. From the moment she arrived, she fit in effortlessly and brought such a lovely energy to our home. She’s incredibly kind and thoughtful, with a natural ability to connect with people (and dogs!). Mily is wonderfully independent and proactive .. she quickly established her own routine, including early morning dog walks that set a great tone for the day. She was always happy to help out around the house and did every task with care and enthusiasm. Her creativity really shines through in her photography and digital skills. She worked alongside me at a festival and was a fantastic support — reliable, professional, and a genuine team player. Mily has a great eye for detail and a quiet confidence that makes her a pleasure to work with. She made a wonderful connection with our daughter, filling the house with laughter and positivity. It was easy to trust her completely — whether helping at home or minding our daughter, and that peace of mind meant so much. Mily also embraced her time in Ireland wholeheartedly, taking every opportunity to travel, explore, and experience the culture. She is curious, open-minded, and has such a bright, adventurous spirit. We feel very lucky to have met her. Any host would be fortunate to welcome Mily, she’s a caring, capable, and genuinely lovely person who leaves a lasting impression wherever she goes.

It was very nice to have Renzo as a Workawayer. He is a very positive person, a quick learner and very flexible. The only reason why we gave 4 and not 5 stars for communication is that he is working very hard on improving his English. :-) Renzo helped us with many different things, and knows how to make a delicious, fresh pizza! We wish him all the best, and who knows we will meet again!

Ann et Martin ont passé 2 semaines au moulin et celà est passé trop vite . Ils ont fait un travail formidable et très utile dans la propriété . Martin a abattu un arbre et élagué beaucoup d'autres ce qui était important pour nous . Ann a beaucoup travaillé dans le jardin : désherbage , nettoyage , cueillette de légumes dans le potager et de fruits dans le verger . Ils ont très courageux , ils ont laissé tout propre en évacuant le résultat de leur travail dans de nombreuses remorques pour la déchetterie . Leur présence était très agréble et nous avons eu des conversations intéressantes sur nos pays respectifs . Nous espérons les revoir au moulin .

I had a very good time for the 5 weeks I past in this hostel. The venue is nice, clean and the garden creates a great atmosphere with the guests. Marina, Victor and their family are lovely and they will do everything to make you feel confortable. About the job, it is simple, clear and you will have free time to enjoy the city. You have the possibility to take some days-off to explore around if you are up to. I recommend it both as volunteer and as a guest.

Marynia is just such a lovely human being. Honestly interested in how people are doing, always caring and perceptive and with so many fascinating stories to share. Their professional skills in photography transformed into two beautiful galleries inside our house and their passion for poetry manifests in now regularly occurring poetry nights. Marynia is good at finding a spot for themselves, at connecting with people and at bringing people together. They are willing and able to contribute to a community in many different ways and if they ever want to visit yours, definitely invite them!

Mieux vaut tard que jamais :D Accueillir Charline, Maïté, leur amie Sabrina (et Joe!) à la maison était comme accueillir des amies. Je me sentais bien en leur présence et elles m'ont été d'une aide précieuse, tant durant leurs heures de travail qu'à la maison en rangeant et nettoyant derrière moi plus vite que leur ombre! Je pouvais leur faire confiance, le travail est sérieux, réfléchi et soigné. Revenez quand vous voulez, pour une semaine, 1 mois, à l'année en coloc... :p

Where should I begin and where should I end? Maybe it’s easier to start with the ending: One month that felt like a week — definitely too short. I’ll be back!!! At Aimee, Kevin, and Anita’s place, you wake up, care for the amazing animals, do your best to distribute cuddles evenly (not easy!), glance at the clock — and it’s already evening. Time flies when you’re surrounded by so much love, laughter, and fluff. I’m incredibly proud to say that my first babysitting experience was with Nova, the sweetest, jumpiest little lamb. I learned so much about all the farm animals — honestly, choosing favorites is impossible. They don’t change daily, they change hourly. Each animal has its own personality, and I’m beyond grateful to have met and cuddled them all (yes, roosters included!). Although I do wonder how I should continue traveling without Odin, Yeti and Peachy. Aimee, thank you for the awesome time, the Doodle lessons, the hilarious facial expressions during board games, and all the unforgettable moments. I’ll try my best to find hosts with drawing skills on my future travels so I can become more competitive in Doodle — and finally draw Peachy in your guestbook! Dear future volunteers: you might find yourself considering a permanent stay at Aimee’s. Please leave a spot open in April for me. Thanks in advance😊

I stayed almost three weeks with Philippa and it has been a wonderful volunteering. Philippa has the true sens of Workaway. She is hospitable, knowledgeable, helpful, flexible and funny. My duties and tasks were flexible between the garden and inside the house. It was various and pleasant. I worked the morning and then I have the afternoon free. She will assure that you feel comfortable of what you do! Thanks to her recommendations, I was even able to improve and repair my van. We had a wonderful dinner with her friends, and good discussions about the news and any topics. I highly recommend Philippa as a host! Thank you very much for this time. Warm regards, Nadège

Matilda is a hard working young women. She always did the jobs with great care and was very accurate. And she showed a lot of initiatif. We loved the talks with Matilda. She is very interested in the things going on in the world. Especially about sustainability. If you have the chance to host Matilda, we would surtainly do so.

Erasmo and Mounir worked with motivation and curiosity. Their stay was very pleasant. They always kept the common areas clean, as well as their room. They were very kind and did not cause any problems. We recommend them!

My time in the house was good. Barbara picked me up from the train station when I arrived and then went grocery shopping with me because I didn't have a rental car there. I really appreciated that. I would have liked more instruction and explanation when it came to house sitting, especially when it came to the topic of gardening. So that we watered the garden together once would have helped me maybe. I was very willing to take care of the garden properly and watered it as I felt good, which in the end was probably not enough. I'm very sorry about that too! The cats are very sweet and easy to care for and I enjoyed their company. The house is also equipped with everything you need. I would definitely recommend a car there. I would still like to thank you for the great time I had there 😊

Shion is a truly lovely person. Kind, helpful, and always cheerful. Thanks to her, we've created a very close-knit group with lots of fun, work, and deep, personal exchanges. I highly recommend her... also because she makes excellent suchi 😉🙏
