This was our first Workaway and we couldn’t have wished for a better experience! Anna and Dominik were so welcoming and amazing hosts. We very much enjoyed the work we did and learnt a lot about mushroom foraging, making preserves and growing your own produce. Both Anna and Dominik made delicious Polish homemade meals and we enjoyed helping out in the kitchen cooking together. We felt more than Workaway helpers, they made us feel like family friends. We had lots of great conversations at the table and enjoyed eating our meals together outside in the sunshine. Dominik took us on a lovely bike ride around the village and on the weekend we took a trip to Kielce to do some exploring. We sat around a camp fire together, and they have the friendliest pets! We felt very trusted with their home and responsibilities which was lovely. Anna set us a few daily tasks we can work through the day, which varied so it always allowed us to do something different everytime. She also allowed us to take breaks when we would like. It has been so amazing to meet you both, thank you for teaching us so much we will always remember you and your lovely home! Best wishes, Izzie and Julia

Johnathan's school is a highly professional, well-organized institute with students of all ages. It was a pleasure to get to know all of them and learn about their plans, dreams, and passions. I loved to participate in the filming sessions: the school has outstanding marketing, in which it's a lot of fun to take part. Johnathan did everything in his power to make me feel welcome: the provided accommodation was comfortable with the right amount of privacy, perfect for a longer stay. Manta itself offers you jaw-dropping and relaxing beaches, tasteful food, and friendly people. I will miss my students and the team, but hopefully we will meet again in the future.

We had a wonderful experience hosting Amitay, Dana, Maya, and Tom. Tom and Maya were very kind children, and our son Adrin always misses them. All of them were extremely hardworking, always ready to help with any task. They supported us in harvesting, planting, cooking, and every part of farm work with great energy and positivity. We truly recommend them to any host and would be very happy to welcome them back again in the future.

We (Jesse and Titus and our toddler Gabriel) had such a brilliant time staying with Sarah, Henry, Sam and Leo. From the moment we arrived they made us feel at home, so warm, welcoming and easy to be around. We slotted into family life straight away and had so much fun together. The work was perfect for us. Both of us got to do things that suited our skills, and it felt really good to get things finished and feel appreciated for it. The balance between us worked really well and we genuinely felt valued. They were so generous too, treating us to food out, making sure we had everything we needed, and giving us the cosiest caravan to stay in (with a heater for the colder Asturian autumn evenings!). They also offered us to have to a bedroom in the house too if we needed. They introduced us to their lovely friends and neighbours, which made us feel even more part of things. The boys are wonderful, polite, sweet and so kind playing with our toddler, and the animals were a joy to be around. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and we’ll definitely be staying in touch with this amazing family. 100% recommend Sarah and Henry to other Workawayers!

I spent 10 days at Arnaud’s chapel, sleeping in a cozy caravan and spending my time with him and other workawayers, surrounded by a beautiful countryside and curious cows (and brambles of course!). It’s still incredible for me how welcoming and nice Arnaud is, he lives there by himself but somehow he was able to create a sense of community and sharing. He’s very sensitive and able to understand other people needs. During the time I spent at la chapelle, we cut trees, made jam, talked about life, literature or silly things, sewed curtains, released dormice, lived the social life of Aubigny and also had some walks! He always take care that the food is enough and the work not too much : ) I’m deeply impressed by his ability to be that open, human and kind with people, probably thanks to all the different lives he lived. Thank you again Arnaud, for everything, it’s cool and heartwarming to meet people like you in rough times like these! See you soon and enjoy the winter : )

Eszter has been a wonderful volunteer at the English School. She brought a lot of positive energy to our classrooms and quickly connected with our students. Her speaking sessions were dynamic and engaging, helping learners build confidence while practicing real conversation. Beyond teaching, she showed great cultural openness and was always willing to support our team with kindness and professionalism. We truly appreciated her dedication and the cultural exchange she created with our community. We highly recommend Eszter to any future hosts, she will be a great asset wherever she goes!

I had an absolutely fantastic time with Gerard and Kate. They are both incredibly kind and welcoming, and I felt at home right away. The work was easy and well balanced, and the exchange was more than fair. We also did a lot of fun activities together, including a great boat trip, and Kate showed me around the area, which made the experience even better. The food Kate cooked was always delicious and such a treat to enjoy. It was also really nice to join the garden gigs and Gerard’s gigs in town, which added something special to the stay. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Gerard and Kate to any Workawayer.

Paul was a volunteer with me for just 10 days but I found him a very well mannered, helpful guy with excellent English. He was well able to work away on his own and I found him 100% trust worthy. As he is studying art and keen sketcher in pencil he drew a wonderful picture of my dog Polly which I am delighted with a look foward to framing, he always made some delicious pasta dishes. I wish you well Paul with your next host and in completing your studies. Thanks

We stayed with Lydia and Rupert when we first arrived in Ireland and couldn't have been more welcomed. Every task they needed done they explained very thoroughly, and it was the perfect mix of work and free time. Lydia always made the yummiest food and gave us great recommendations on what to do in the area and in Ireland in general. Lydia and her lovely family have helped us out so much and we couldn't thank her enough!

Dear Marielle & Helena, Reading your review brought such big smiles to our faces — and yes, maybe even a little tear or two. It was truly a joy to host you both, and honestly, we often said to each other: "If only they were our adopted daughters for real!" You're the kind of guests every host dreams of: cheerful, respectful, hard-working, and full of warmth and humour. From the very first day, you fit in so naturally with our world here. Your help around the domain — from weeding and gardening to cleaning rooms and living spaces with attention to detail and initiative — was deeply appreciated. But even more than that, your kindness, curiosity and gentle energy brought life to every corner of the place. We loved sharing stories and meals around the table, and seeing your joy in the simple things — fresh vegetables from the garden, croissants, a good laugh, a quiet evening in the countryside — reminded us why we love what we do. You also reminded us how beautiful this place can be through fresh eyes. And while you say you felt at home here — we want you to know that you truly were home here. You made this house feel lighter, warmer, and more alive — and we missed you the moment you left. You're welcome back anytime — not just as helpers, but as honorary family. We wish you all the very best for what comes next. May your journey stay full of adventure, beauty, and connections as genuine as the one we shared. With all our gratitude, Marika

To say this has been an incredible experience would be an understatement. To stay with Alexander was one of the best experiences of my life. My work consisted of some gardening, but mainly collaborative work brainstorming with Alexander and helping her use canva and some social media coaching. From getting to spend time on the most breathtaking property, to the most delicious food fresh from the farm, to truly enjoying my work with Alexandra - this was an absolute dream. Alexandra and her family are so warm and welcoming, and truly made me feel at home. I could not recommend this highly enough.

Tom is a great helper and a great person in general. Curious, appreciative and enthusiastic about everything he does, reliable and hard working. Digging holes for fence posts, cleaning up piles of goat poo, cutting firewood with a large circular saw, cutting the grass with weed-eater. We had good conversations together, he is also patient and good with kids - our 2yo loved him so much! He felt like he really wants to be here, meet other people, discover the countryside, learn and try anything. He is a humble guest, always willing to help and nothing is a problem for him. So happy for the opportunity to have him around.

Hello, I spent three weeks there and I had a wonderful time. It is a nice and quiet place and if you can be on your own and like hiking and fishing it is the place to be for you. Ole and Siggi are very nice hosts. I did a lot of painting and gardening work and it was very varied. In your freetime you can go hiking or blueberry picking. It was my first workaway experience and I am very happy that I came there.

We stayed 3 weeks at the Berry Farm during the summer and had an amazing time. It was the end of our trip and great way to experience countryside life in Japan. Satoshi is an extremely friendly person, we really loved hanging out with him and appreciated his welcoming and open-minded personality and his many projects on the go! We worked usually in the mornings until lunch and volunteers had a go at different jobs like cutting grass, clearing plants out of the pond (my favourite job!) chopping wood, picking caterpillars off blueberries, renovating some air b&B properties. Our free time was filled with trips to the beach after work, supermarket shopping with the other volunteers and weekends exploring the island. The farm is quite rural so having a driving license made this experience much better to make the most of our time there. A couple of things we did not expect - the accomodation is a quirky old hospital building, sometimes a bit spooky in the night time but we grew to love it (many colourful moth species to see if you like wildlife!) There were 7-10 volunteers when we were there (which I think Satoshi himself didn't expect!) so there was more social time with international travellers rather than Japanese. I think the experience would be very different with less volunteers and that number probably depends a lot on the season. We were lucky that we lived with some great volunteers, but introverted people might find this a bit of a challenge. We enjoyed the daily rhythm of doing tasks outdoors, taking care of chickens, cooking and eating together with volunteers. It was an interesting insight into life on a farm. The day of the ducks, I will never forget! Satoshi, thank you for having us, we have many happy memories from our time on the farm. If you ever come to London or Brazil please let us know :)

My friend Alberte and I visited Linda and her lovely family for a week and a half in August. We had a wonderful stay with lots of great experiences, where we got the chance to try a little bit of everything. We felt very welcome and had a lot of fun with the whole family, including Julianne, Sunniva, and their incredibly sweet cat. We stayed in a room on the first floor of the house, while the two other workawayers stayed in the so-called “chicken house.” The surroundings were truly beautiful, and we enjoyed exploring the local community – we were especially big fans of the local café! We can wholeheartedly recommend Linda and her family, and we have to admit that we could definitely see ourselves coming back!

I had a wonderful experience staying with Giny. She was a great host, very approachable and easy going, as well as kind and caring, which made it very easy to settle in quickly. My main job was to take care of Ozzi, who is the most lovable and funny dog. We really bonded and became great friends, I truly enjoyed walking him through the forest every day. Other jobs included feeding the chinchillas, cleaning their house, and doing some gardening. I also had a lot of time to myself so I was able to work in the afternoons and explore the surrounding areas. The closest lake is stunning and I also enjoyed watching the sunset from time to time. I'd definitely recommend this workaway if you love animals and want to live a simple life for a little bit. It was a nice break for me from the fast pace of life and I'm very grateful to Giny for this experience.

The animals were cared for, but unfortunately the plants in the garden were not. Watering only every other day at 30°C, especially with sandy soil, is far too little and does not correspond to what I had specified as the task here. Many plants have completely dried out or at least suffered damage from drought, which should be obvious even to anyone unfamiliar with gardening. I am very disappointed and would not entrust my garden to Sophie again.
