I spent one week at Os’s place at Playa Mermejita and had a really lovely, relaxing time. For the first three days, I was there by myself, basically house sitting. The work was very light and the tasks were not difficult at all. In return, I got to stay in a beautiful cabana, which I really enjoyed. Os is a very kind and easygoing host and it was a very nice and laid back experience staying at his place. The only thing to keep in mind is the weather since it gets really hot, so be prepared, and definitely bring mosquito spray! Muchas gracias por todo! :)

What a delight to have a person like Marine at our place. Truly friendly and kind, for everyone and every animal. I enjoyed her energy and skills, she sees the work and she can do it all. My god what a talented woman! come back Marine!!!!

I stayed for one week and even in this short time I feel like this was very important to see for my life. I got to know Adam's family which is very kind and welcomming although the language barrier was a bit hard as I only speak English. I worked for 4 days in the school and connected quite good in this short time. We had some gardening projects and I teached some English in Sidi's class. Sidi speaks very good English and was very helpful to overcome the language barrier for me. thank you for this experience and the short but great time! I only had to get used to the communication and time management there as a European...

I had a great workaway experience at katherines and sebastians house! the family is very open and it was easy to connect with their three gorgeous kids🥹I can really recommend that workaway host!!!

This place provides normalcy, dignity and kindness for people who's lives are in flux. Living and working with a team of caring volunteers was core in making my experience exceptional. I appreciated the opportunity to contribute. Thanks to all who organize this operation!

I had a really wonderful experience staying here and would highly recommend Caterina to anyone considering a Workaway. From the moment I arrived, she was incredibly warm and welcoming, and she went out of her way to make me feel like part of the family rather than just a guest. One of the highlights of my stay was the amazing food she provided and prepared. Every meal was thoughtful, generous, and absolutely delicious—it really added to the whole experience and showed how much she cares about the people she hosts. She was also very appreciative of the work I did, which made everything feel genuinely rewarding. There was clear communication, fair expectations, and a relaxed, positive atmosphere that made the work enjoyable. On top of that, she kindly took the time to show me around and brought me to see different places in the area, which I really appreciated—it made the experience even more special and memorable. A special mention also has to go to Hilde the dog, who was an absolute joy to be around. She was so friendly and pleasant, and I really enjoyed spending time playing fetch with her—it was definitely one of the highlights of my stay. Overall, it was a fantastic stay with a kind, generous, and thoughtful host. I’m very grateful for my time here and would happily return in the future. Thank you, Caterina!

Leander is a lovely young man. His carpentry work was fabulous. Such a great help for me. He has a quiet kind thoughtful disposition. He is very easy to get along with easy to please. I enjoyed having him here I am very greatful for his good work ethic. Thank you Leander ! I recommend him as a solid workaway, trustworthy indeed.

I spent just over two weeks here... and it wasn't enough. The hostel is lovely and a great place to get away from the busyness of life. I unfortunately wasn't able to meet the Nicolas, but he was always quick and helpful in responding. The other volunteers and I prepared the guests rooms and were available for any questions they had. Otherwise we were completely free to enjoy the Island and use the kayaks! I would definitely recommend this to fellow workawayers.

Pia stayed with us for 2 weeks and what can I say… she is a very happy and thoughtful person, full of energy and conversations. She cooked good meals and prepared delicious coffe with her cinnamon touch for us :) She knows how to do a task independently after explaining which does make working together so much easier and fun. Also we had a good time meeting the neighbors, playing games and going on a hike. I would always welcome her back again! have a good time in chile, dear Pia.

Wir hatten einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt von 2,5 Monaten bei Davina und Harry und haben uns dort als Familie vom ersten Moment an sehr willkommen gefühlt. Beide waren jederzeit freundlich, herzlich und zuvorkommend, sodass eine sehr angenehme, offene und wertschätzende Atmosphäre entstanden ist. Wir waren im großen Gästehaus mit eigener Küche untergebracht, was für uns ideal war, da wir oft für alle Personen gekocht haben. Besonders schön war für uns, dass auf individuelle Wünsche und Bedürfnisse jederzeit Rücksicht genommen wurde. Die Kommunikation war immer offen, klar und unkompliziert, sodass Absprachen im Alltag sehr gut funktioniert haben und alles angenehm und entspannt war. Auch unsere beiden Kinder hatten dort eine wunderschöne Zeit mit viel Stockbrot. Sie haben es sehr genossen, mit Balian & Noah zu spielen & das Grundstück zu erkunden, sowie mit den vielen Haustieren Zeit zu verbringen. Das gesamte Grundstück ist groß, wunderschön und bietet viel Raum, um sich wohlzufühlen, zur Ruhe zu kommen und den Alltag gemeinsam zu genießen. Viele Tage haben wir entspannt am großen Pool ausklingen lassen, was diesen Aufenthalt für uns als Familie noch besonderer gemacht hat. Besonders in Erinnerung bleibt uns, wie selbstverständlich herzlich und aufmerksam Davina und Harry im Alltag waren. Es war nie das Gefühl da, einfach nur zum Helfen vor Ort zu sein, sondern wirklich willkommen zu sein. Genau das hat diese Zeit für uns als Familie so besonders gemacht. Wer einen Ort sucht, an dem Gastfreundschaft, Familienfreundlichkeit, Natur und ein respektvolles Miteinander zusammenkommen, ist bei Davina und Harry genau richtig. Wir blicken mit großer Dankbarkeit auf diese schöne Zeit zurück und können sie von Herzen weiterempfehlen.

Felippe and João are kind and friendly people, very intelligent and lively. I am Brazilian and, as my first experience, I can say it was extraordinary, like living in a classic European film. The property is beautiful, the gardens are breathtaking, the food is always very well prepared and delicious, meals are always accompanied by lots of conversation and good food. The work is calm and peaceful. Simple to do. A classic, elegant and very tasteful experience.

In Tor, we had a guest for two weeks who was a good communicator, easy-going, worked in the vineyard, was independent, and very appreciative and respectful. In our opinion, he should tone down his ode to our wine – for similar reasons to why he would have preferred to give us a bad review :)

EN: Believe me, Danielle's family and the heaven of peace they created are worth the visit for a volunteering! I had the chance to stay several weeks with them, helping with different tasks with the horses and on the field, enjoying while working the peaceful environment between river and forest. You will definitely if you desire and are involved get valuable knowledge on body awareness, consciousness and horses by observing and listening to Danielle! I personaly spent my free time outside with their lovely animals or enjoying the area, the villages around as well as Deventer are very lovely and worth the trip by bike (you can play board games at the library in Deventer on the Saturday and its real fun to meet people!). I have not much more to say except, thank you Danielle, I learnt so much from you and your family, you really created a peaceful home and I am glad I helped you a little. I hope to be back to say hi soon! And cheers to everybody including humans, horses, dogs and cats ;) FR: Croyez-moi, la famille de Danielle et le havre de paix qu'ils ont créé valent vraiment le détour pour réaliser un volontariat ! J'ai eu la chance de passer plusieurs semaines avec eux, à les aider dans diverses tâches avec les chevaux et sur leur terrain, profitant pleinement de ce cadre paisible entre rivière et forêt. Si vous le souhaitez et que êtes impliqués, vous pourrez acquérir sans aucun doute de précieuses connaissances sur la pleine conscience et les chevaux en observant et en écoutant Danielle ! Personnellement, j'ai passé mon temps libre dehors avec leurs adorables animaux ou à explorer les environs. Les villages alentour, ainsi que Deventer, sont magnifiques et méritent la ballade à vélo (vous pouvez jouer à des jeux de société à la bibliothèque de Deventer le samedi et c'est très sympa pour rencontrer du monde !). Je n'ai pas grand-chose à ajouter, si ce n'est un grand merci à Danielle et sa tendre famille. J'ai tellement appris de vous! Vous avez vraiment créé un cocon et je suis heureuse d'avoir pu vous apporter un peu de mon aide. Ana and Oscar are such nice people. Ana’s English is very good, and although Oscar’s English is at an basic -intermediate level, he consistently made an effort to learn new words every day. They did a great job with the cleaning and the garden. As a couple, they work very well together. They spent more than the average budget on food, but it wasn’t a big deal.

I stayed with Michel and Isabel for around 3 weeks. This was one of the best workaway experiences I've had and I wish I could stay longer. I felt welcome and safe from the first minutes after I arrived. They always took great care about communication, giving clear instructions, support and advice. The tasks varied and were adjusted to volunteers’ preferences, so that it was not boring and allowed to try and learn different kinds of things. The meals were very tasty and healthy, many ingredients fresh from the garden. The common area / kitchen is cozy, with a possibility of heating up the space with wood burning stove on cold evenings, to relax, play board games or watch movies. Both with Isabel and Michel and other volunteers I’ve met, I’ve had many great conversations, during working hours, meals and in our free time. The division between work and leisure was always very clear. On weekends we would go for trips, attend music events or artisanal markets where we could meet people from local community or just chill in the hammock. Portalegre, the nearest town, is walking distance, so it was definitely possible to go there in the afternoons, which I did a couple of times, but I felt so comfortable, that most of the time I didn’t even feel like going somewhere, and actually enjoyed staying in and relaxing. Michel was kind enough to share with us some of his woodworking knowledge and tools, so that we could work on our small wood projects. I even managed to make my own little sculpture. During my stay, we worked hard, but I didn’t really feel it, as the atmosphere was so nice and friendly, a safe space, so that it felt more like visiting friends. No sé por dónde empezar, pero mi breve estancia con Jo y Jake fue uno de los mejores días de mi vida. Hicieron que su casa se sintiera como la mía. También tuve otro compañero de voluntariado que fue muy, muy amable. Aprendí mucho y siempre me sentí cómodo dando mi opinión. I really think jake and jo are genuinely good, kind, intelligent people and I feel truly re inspired and refreshed after spending time with them. I would love love to come back.
