My partner and I stayed here for 3 weeks. however, before we arrived we had agreed on a minimum of one month. we thought this meant we would have the chance to work on a bigger project, but that was not the case. The tasks seemed to be very separated and a bit random, like painting a wall or picking up some thrash. There seemed to be a lack of guidance for the volunteers and that became clear immediately so we shortened our stay. the place is truly beautiful and Kenzie's vision is really amazing, sadly she was not there for most of the time and the vision she has is not really translated in the actions of the workers. there is still a lot of alcohol and cigarettes and we were also asked to paint the trees with gasoline which is just really bad for the environment. I tried to open a conversation about this but there was no openess from their side sadly enough. We did created our own project in working with herbal medicine which was incredibly nice so there is a big openness in doing your own project (as long as it brings profit to the place because that is a really important thing there). But you have to be assertive and creative enough to do that or you'll be stuck with painting a wall or varnishing a tree for the whole stay. Also we were expected to cook for guests and serve them at the restaurant which was never discussed beforehand and we were also not allowed to count this as working time. Meaning we actually worked 7 hour shifts often and could only end our day by 9 in the evening which was really tiring

Paige and Luke were our first volunteers at the Hotel and they were incredible! So pleasant, helpful, and patient with us as we figured things out together. They got along well with our staff and our guests, were respectful in all interactions, and exceeded work expectations. They were an absolute delight to host.

Dan really saved me when I needed to leave other place (not workaway place). Dan reacted so quickly and offered me that I could stay with him for a while which I really appreciate, it was last minute. He told me lot about Aboriginal culture and showed me interesting places around. However I can't tell if it was because such a last announcement of my arrival or if it's standard, but the place was little bit messy (which I was quite OK with, but I am writing it here because someone else could be more sensitive about it and be surprised in a bad way). My room was tidy and clean, I am speaking just about the shared area of house (kitchen, living room etc.) And also could be better for next guest to know that it would be better to visit this place with a car as there's not so much around and not so good acces to public transport. However I am really glad for welcoming me and offering me a place to stay and wish you all the best, Dan! Overall for me the most important thing about hosts is how they are friendly and open minded (as you were), not so much how the place looks. I just think it's fair to write it here so others wouldn't be surprised.

Ha sido un hermoso tiempo en Palomino con Ángela y Angela María te hacen sentir como en casa, te explican todo antes de que lo hagas, están muy pendiente de si necesitas algo y son muy amables, la comida es muy rica y tienes snacks en el turno. Las actividades son principalmente jardinería (replantear, sacar los mentes, podar con maquina) te dan los materiales de protección, y limpieza cosas muy básicas, son 5 horas al día 5 días a la semana. Tienen piscina y los horarios están bien para tener la el resto del día libre, tiene una habitación privada solo para ti

I stayed at Steen place for about 3 weeks and it was such an amazing experience. I've had the chance to meet him, his daughter and a couple of his friends and it was really a good time spent there. Steen is a really pleasant person, quite and genuine. We had the chance to talk about everything and nothing, and he was always there for help and recommendations. He cared a lot about me not working too much, encouraging me to enjoy my stay and visit Copenhagen, which I've done a lot! He was also super appreciative about my works in the garden and I really worked with tranquility and at my own pace. The view from the house is special and the sunset there are just beautiful. I've found a peaceful place where being in contact with nature is easy and distressful. So thank you so much for everything Steen! I hope we cross each other's path again!

If you love animals and are vegan, look no further: this is the place! I adored all the animals. They all have a piece of my heart, from the newest residents A’a and Mischief to the sanctuary elders like lovely Prince and darling Yow Yow. Shawna and Maria are incredibly kind, thoughtful, considerate, understanding and generous. They are happy to answer any questions and show you everything the Hawaiian way whereby you learn by watching first how it’s done and then doing it yourself. The sanctuary is a super intentional, well organised, clean, tidy and a peaceful place for both the animals and the humans. The thought and care put into the animals and humans experience is incredible. They have thought of absolutely everything from providing wellies so you don’t have to worry about your luggage/baggage allowance to provinding snorkelling gear, beach towels and beach bags whenever you have free time. They respect and appreciate volunteers time and never went even a minute over the allocated work time. I loved just hanging out at the sanctuary during my free time but the local town is neat too, the library, post office, stores, cafes, etc are all within walking distance. The only danger is if you try the brownies at Kayas… financial decimation is a real likelihood. Maria and Shawna have created such a special place where all the animals get to just be themselves and live their lives peacefully. At the sanctuary, everybody who calls it home is treated with love, kindness and are given the highest level of care. Maria and Shawna are definitely doing their part in helping to make the World a better place! Thank you for letting me lend a hand for a little while and seeing what the World could be for the animals we live alongside! I signed up to Workaway in the hopes of getting to come here, and I had the best time here and I can’t wait to hopefully come back! They’ve really set the bar high for what Workaway should be like! If they’re happy to have you at the sanctuary: take the opportunity with both hands! ( P. S . A huge thank you for all the Mac n cheese! Best Mac n cheese I’ve had!!)

I had a great time staying with Denise and Betsy - what a joyful, kind, and witty pair! Work included dusting high places, washing walls and floors, and weeding one of the pathways alongside their house. I had *ample* (much more than expected) time to explore Queenstown and the surrounding areas, and I would second the review that says they won't ask but it’s good to help out extra where you can (like cleaning up after dinner), since they are so generous about letting you have your time off. I was well-fed with both food and pleasant company, and River and Willow, though yes, a bit chaotic! were great fun to make friends with and good couch company. I can highly recommend a stay to anyone.

Vera came and spent a couple nights here visiting as we already had a work away staying as well. She was an easy guest and even made a Portuguese dinner for us.

Davide..yego con una gran sonrisa y una muy buena energía.. estábamos pintando y se instalo sin problemas en un colchón en la sala.hablamos como con un primo querido llegado de Italia contamos nuestras intimidades y disfrutamos de la compañía...trabajo duro y con capacidad y conocimiento..con gran buena voluntad..el btiempo juntos fue intenso y de muy buena calidad y con afecto..lo recomiendo . What a wonderful experience with Andrew and Chris! They are spectacular hosts. Everything about my time there was lovely. From the meals prepared by Chris, to the delightful environment, to the conversations, to the things I was able to help with. It was practically a holiday. They were so considerate to take me to so many different places in Brittany. It was the very beginning of spring so the weather was just starting to warm up which made it quite nice outside. This was definitely my best experience with Workaway in France thus far. It’s unlikely that you will not love staying with Andrew and Chris.

What a ray of su shine they have brought into our home. And when Kathy tells you she likes to cook she certainly does and hey both work wonderfully together. They have taken on everything around our property from mowing stacking wood cleaning out chook pens feeding horses with excitement and Joy. Kathy is such a bubbly personality and Jun is very quiet and accommodating they both love life to the fullest, we have all enjoyed wonderful conversations on all topics. I highly recommend them.

Esta ha sido mi primera experiencia en cuanto a Workaway se refiere, y no podría haber terminado más contento. He estado casi dos meses allí trabajando, conviviendo y disfrutando mucho del día a día. Las personas que conoces son una parte fundamental de la experiencia. Al estar en constante convivencia, acabas haciendo muy buenas migas, lo que hace que el tiempo pase aún más rápido. En gran parte, esto también se debe a la buena gestión de Paco a la hora de elegir a la gente para el proyecto. En aquí es difícil aburrirse. Siempre hay algo que hacer: desde explorar cuevas o escalar, hasta recorrer el auténtico e impresionante entorno asturiano. Al final, cuando te toca irte, te quedas con la sensación de que aún te faltan cosas por hacer. Si tienes la oportunidad de venir estoy convencido que lo vas a disfrutar mucho. Sin duda, es una experiencia totalmente recomendable.

Solo puedo describir mi experiencia con Esther como PERFECTA. Ella es una persona calida que cocina excelente tiene gran disposición por hacerte sentir bien. Entre las actividades realizadas estaba pintar azulejos,redes sociales, limpiar el taller, pasear a lola la perrita de Esther muy pequeñita y no molesta nada . El taller es lindo muy bien cuidado y el pueblo te permite conectar con la naturaleza. Hicimos amigos increíbles.

Guzhali is absolutely fantastic. She’s highly educated, elegant, independent, observant, organized, hard-working, and caring. On top of that, she has a beautiful personality. She enjoys her time in the city, attending language classes, exploring the city, and studying in libraries during the day, and she makes great Italian dinners for me when I come home exhausted after a full day of work, in addition to helping with many other things in the house. She didn’t have much experience with kids, but she picked up the skills in no time. Our daughter fell in love with her very quickly. She was here looking for positions, and with her qualifications she had headhunters going after her and received offers in no time. Amazing girl. I’m grateful that you chose to spend time with us. Come back anytime, and I wish you all the best in the future.

I had such a great time with Ben, Dani and Ayla in Llandudno! They really made me feel at home, it was such a great first workaway experience! Ben and Dani are the most generous hosts! Honestly they’d both make great travel agents, Ben knows about the history of the area and Dani knows about all the cutest places to take photos and nicest spots to go! I have so many cute photos thanks to Dani! They both had such great advice for my weekend trips and it made my stay so easy and fun! Thanks so much Ben for picking me up and dropping me off at the train station! 🫶 Ayla is such an adorable, sweet and easy baby- Dani and Ben made it super easy to take care of her and they know her routine really well, so even though I had no experience with babies I picked everything up super quick! It was so fun to play with Ayla, she’s super cute and funny- I had such a nice time getting to know her 👼 The month went by so quickly! I could have spent so much longer with this lovely family exploring Wales (and England too). Thanks so much for everything guys 🫶 I had such an amazing time

Lillian was a fantastic employee. She brings a bright, magnetic energy to everything she does and genuinely loves working with people. She approaches every task with care and curiosity, never shying away from a challenge and always giving it her full effort. She carries that same spirit outside of work, just as ready for a long day as she is for a hike or bike ride. She’s sharp, emotionally aware, and connects easily with all kinds of personalities. Lillian is the kind of person who makes both the work and the experience around it better. Anyone would be lucky to have her.

We highly recommend Naoki as both a volunteer and an educator. During his stay, he consistently demonstrated a genuine openness to learning about the local culture, gastronomy, and everyday life, both within the school environment and beyond. He shared his own culture generously with both our host family and the broader community. His active participation in classes was especially appreciated by the students, who genuinely enjoyed and benefited from his presence. Through his initiative, our community had the opportunity to learn how to prepare traditional Japanese sushi, write their names in Japanese, and explore many other aspects of cultural exchange. Naoki brings a rare combination of professionalism, warmth, and adaptability. He is the kind of person people naturally enjoy being around, and his presence creates a positive and engaging environment wherever he goes. We totally recommend him with full confidence, both as a human being and as a volunteer in educational settings. Any host or institution would be fortunate to have him.

Ibby was the kind of person the fall season itself seemed to bring us. She carried a warm, bright energy and noticed the little things that make a place feel special. Her attention to detail was incredible, and she handled every task with care, professionalism, and a grounded ease that made everything run better. She’s bubbly, creative, and genuinely connects with people in a way that feels natural and uplifting. She really understands hostel life, the flow, the feeling, the behind-the-scenes rhythm. Quick on Cloudbeds, an absolute pro cleaner, and always adding her own thoughtful touch. Having her around felt a bit like catching a really good moment you wish would last longer. 100% would welcome her back anytime.
