This year we need someone to help us prepare the house for sale. We want someone to help us sell some of the contents online and directly, so a good knowledge of German is essential. We are an English couple who now live in Germany along with Purdy the Dalmatian dog, a few sheep, rabbits, hens, a big veg patch, lots of fruit trees etc. We are in an undiscovered part of Germany east of Dresden. The village of Cunewalde is said to be the most beautiful valley in Saxony. Lots of walking/cycling through forest trails and open fields. Bautzen (a wonderful medieval town) is a 20 min bus-ride away. Berlin 2 and a half hours by car and Prague a little closer.
Having people to stay is great. We are used to a big family (all back in the UK) We also had language exchange students for many years. You will also have, of course, your own room.
We tend to work for the first few hours of the day, then break for breakfast at 10.30. We then work again or we may take you out for a trip, or have free time (in the hottest bit of the day. Evening jobs lasting an hour or so sometimes, then a family meal. A total of four to five hours a day but we are VERY flexible. This pattern suits us well...there are other tea and cake breaks so you will not go hungry!
I need you to be willing to do the four or occasionally five hours of work daily, that I ask of you without supervision as I have a part-time teaching job. (Peter is home if you need to check on anything)

This year we need someone to help us sell our stuff. We need a German speaker to help us sell online and directly. We are also preparing the house and garden for sale, so lots of sorting out and making things look good. As well of course with taking care of the animals and gardens.

Volunteers can be accommodated in the house. We have separate accommodation for people staying including the use of a separate bathroom. We also have a caravan for people who would rather stay outdoors.

We are very friendly people, however if you're hoping to learn German from us then you'd be disappointed. We have German friends who speak little or no English and communicate with them in pidgen German or sign language. It works for us.

Hola! mi lengua nativa es el español, soy Ana de Chile, quizá por mi nivel de inglés en ese momento, fué todo un desafio para mi tanto como Melanie y Peter. Logramos entablar conversaciones de diferentes tonalidades y difuminaciones, siento que con ellos tú puedes llegar a conocer diferentes puntos de vista en los diferentes aspectos de la vida.… read more Melanie es una persona muy especial, lo pude sentir en nuestras caminatas por los senderos del bosque, en el como se desenvuelve con los vecinos, en su forma de tomar conversaciones, etc. Me siento facinada de esta experiencia porque fué excitante, cada fin de semana existia un panorama, logré conocer; Bautzen (castillos, princesas, cementerio, parte de la cultura del pueblo indigena, etc.) Zgorzelec y Görlitz (festival en la frontera cultura, cerveza y comida), Dresden hermoso, un parque forestal con enormes rocas "Kurort Oybin", simplemente magnifico. Y por la cercanía con Republica checa logré conocer también Praga. Simplemente por el hecho de todo lo que esta familia te entrega es que tu realizas tus labores con energía, porque de eso se trata "work away" de contriburir, de realizar un "feed back constante", recuerdo haber estado muy animada con mis labores en casa, porque además se trata de una forma de vida natural y en parte autosustentable, es una pequeña edición de un paraiso terrenal... adoré conocer a Peter, jamas me dejó de sorprender su forma de razonar las cosas. Gracias por tanto, aprendí mucho con ustedes y me sentí muy acogida. Espero volverlos a ver.

Hello! My native language is Spanish, I'm Ana from Chile, maybe because of my level of English at that time, it was quite a challenge for me as well as Melanie and Peter. We managed to engage in conversations of different tonalities and diffusions, I feel that with them you can get to know different points of view in the different aspects of life. Melanie is a very special person, I could feel it in our walks through the paths of the forest, in the way she deals with neighbors, in her way of taking conversations, etc. I feel fascinated by this experience because it was exciting, every weekend there was a panorama, I got to know; Bautzen (castles, princesses, cemetery, part of the culture of the indigenous people, etc.) Zgorzelec and Görlitz (festival on the border culture, beer and food), beautiful Dresden, a forest park with huge rocks "Kurort Oybin", simply magnificent . And because of the closeness to Czech Republic, I also got to know Prague. Simply by the fact of everything that this family gives you is that you do your work with energy, because that is "work away" to contribute, to make a "constant feed back", I remember being very encouraged with my work at home, because it is also a natural and partly self-sustainable way of life, it is a small edition of an earthly paradise ... I loved meeting Peter, never stopped surprising his way of reasoning things. Thank you so much, I learned a lot with you and I felt very welcome. I hope to see you again.

We stay here for 2 weeks,and have good time with Melanie.
She is a nice host,and teach us many thing about gardening and cooking. She is also a good cooker.
One day you need to work 4 hour 30 minutes, and the leisure time you can walk to forest with cute dog.
If you want to look for workaway, it is a nice place to stay and learn.
