We are currently initiating a series of new techniques to improve water retention and soil fertility on the farm
- help us explore and experiment with water management strategies for arid areas.
- develope and implement practices most suitable to the area and its needs
- design and implement water retention structures using local and natural materials
- Initiate soil restoration practices
Implement a large scale garden design experiment, seeking to reach high efficiency production and to minimize water usage.
Help to improve the local traditional flood irrigation system
-This is a great hands on opportunity for any permaculturist/ enviromentalist who wants to learn and experiment with water management
Thisis a project to promote low impact living based on a large organic farm, mainly olive groves, some almond and fruit trees, large vegetable plots, and several self built houses using eco building methods.situated in a valley with no road access but only 5 mins walk from the nearest village and 30 mins from a lively alternative town.(Orgiva)
We are completely off grid- solar power, compost toilets etc.
We have up to 5 or 6 volunteers at any one time helping with the running of the farm, self sufficiency (we produce all the fruit and veg we consume),looking after the animals (chickens, cats),eco building projects,reed-bed systems, olive harvest ( nov-jan), general repairs etc.
Kate is also a member of a small organic olive oil co-op where we take the olives to be milled.
The income from renting two eco cottages on the finca and the sale of olive oil are what finance this project but workawayers are not expected to work on either of these activities .Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado
