Originally from Scotland and England, my partner and I travelled and lived overseas for 10 years finally settling in the far most Western corner of Europe where we started our family. We were drawn here to Lagos, Algarve, by the desire to renovate my parents old Quinta with the view to turning it into a guest house. It is a labour of love! The property is situated on 2.5 acres of land and there is always work to be done in the gardens. We have a 400 year old olive tree, a formal Italian garden, an orchard, a Mediterranean dry garden and a Zen garden for our yoga shala.
Fraser is mad about all thing bikes, preferably mountain biking but loves all kinds of cycling. Chantelle prefers life at a more sedate pace with yoga and meditation important past times. So when they are not at the Quinta you would probably find Fraser on a bike and Chantelle on a yoga mat! Or as a family you will find them hiking, travelling, SUPing or beaching.
We are 4km from the pretty beach village of Luz and also 4km from the historic town of Lagos with its many stunning beaches and grottoes.. Both great for all kinds of water activities such as surfing, kayaking, SUPing and sailing. There are literally over 20 stunning and peaceful beaches within a 20 minute drive from us.
We have bikes people can use to cycle down to the beach or if wanting to explore further afield a car would be useful. Local buses also run from the Quinta to both Luz and Lagos.

Ajuda
From April - July we are looking for an evening kitchen/waiter person to help our chefs through our season. Experience in hospitality A MUST and availability to stay for 2- 3 months from the beginning of April. Applicants must send their resume with covering letter to apply. Applicants must be able to legally work in Europe.
If travelling as a couple we are also looking for someone with gardening/maintenance experience. This could suit two people with one helping out in the evening and another helping out in the kitchen. Alternatively the role would include some evening waitressing and some day time gardening work.
Accommodation provided for one person or a couple in a garden cabin with use of bathroom and kitchen in main house. Or space to park a campervan.
We do not accept workers in August and can not yet commit to workaways for September - November 2026.
This workaway offer suits independent travelers who like structured and independent workaway experiences. The owners are not based onsite but work there daily and you would be part of their onsite team.

We accommodate workaways in our garden cabin with access to the staff bathroom and kitchen in the main house. The cosy cabin and has air-conditioning and heating and its own private outdoor area. You will take your meals in the Quinta kitchen.
You will be able to enjoy our 2.5 acres of beautiful gardens.
