This a beautiful place with great hosts. If you get the opportunity to come here, you will be glad you did. I was lucky to be here through a Covid lockdown, and then stayed even longer. Cranleigh and Ros made me feel very at home, made my end of the house very comfortable for me, and certanly went the extra mile in preparing/organising a meal for

Cranleigh loves his cattle and takes great care of them. He will talk to you endlessly (if you let him!) about them, the farm , and flying (another passion). Mostly he let me get on with farm infrastructure maintenance, so i did quite a lot of fencing, gate hanging/repair and clearing fallen branches. This was all quite challenging and very rewarding on such a hilly property. There is much more to do!
Ros works full time (and more) in Tauranga, but would like to do more in the garden. Gardening is not my thing, but I did put up a birdproof enclosure and build 4 raised garden beds inside. More help in the garden would certainly be appreciated.
My most satisfying task was fixing the wiring on the old Hitachi digger, which I think I probably saved from imminently going up in flames.
Locally, i found some good walks. Either drive up the road to the Kaimai ranges, or even walk on the local roads which are pretty quiet and give great views over Tauranga and the coast.
It's hard to condense three months into a few sentences. Suffice to say that if you are looking for work variety with kind, intelligent and informed hosts on a beautiful property, look no further.

David had a great work ethic and was happy to fit in with our working and eating schedules which depended on weather and other commitments. His help around the property was really valuable. It's meeting people like David that makes being Workaway Hosts so worthwhile. Shame about the rugby.

Ros and Cranleigh are the friendliest and most pleasant people I could wish to come across on my travels.
Very sociable and relaxed people it was always a pleasure chatting and spending time with them and having a good laugh around the dinner table, I was booked in to spend 2 weeks and ended up spending

For the work side, they were flexible in the working hrs so that it suited us both.
They were particularly considerate ensuring I was comfortable with the range of jobs we worked on and never asked me to do anything beyond my skill and comfort level.
Work was varied and good fun with Cranleigh out on the farm, picking up a lot of knowledge and learning some new skills.

We loved having Annie and Mark with us and hit it off right from the start. This was our first experience of approaching Workaways whose profiles caught our eye, rather than the other way round. We hit the Workaway jackpot alright, and by the time they left us we felt we had made some new lifelong friends.

… read more about having Annie and Mark around - their great senses of humour, their travel stories, their willingness to work hard (way over and above what could be reasonably asked of them), their go-with-the-flow attitude and, equally important, their deep appreciation for New Zealand and what it has to offer. We have really missed them since they left and are hoping we can spend more time together again one day over a good meal and a glass of wine - besides there are more trees to prune!!

Caroline and Neil have set the gold standard in workaway experience for us. From the minute they arrived we felt at ease with them both. They were so non-judgmental and relaxed about our slightly chaotic way of life.

… read more When they weren't working (which was far more hours than was expected or required of them contractually), they were helpful and considerate. They looked after themselves at breakfast and lunchtime, helped with food prep and clearing away after meals, and were very tolerant of our later-than-reasonable evening meal times. And they fitted in perfectly around our family and friends.
We really enjoyed their easy company and their interesting conversation and have missed having them around. If they ever wanted to return, we would have them back in a heartbeat (hint)!

It was great having Weston & Diana to stay. They are a delightful couple with a good sense of humour and they have led interesting lives. … read more that he could just get on with the job. Deanna was great to have in the kitchen and when the outside work involved sheer muscle she helped a lot in the house, tidying up and cleaning where it was needed without Ros even asking!
Apart from the help Weston and Deanna gave us, they were really good company. It is not always easy having strangers living in your house, but Weston and Diana were easy going and accommodating of our sometimes chaotic lifestyle and random mealtimes. That kind of attitude is what makes hosting workaways so much more enjoyable and memorablel.
We enjoyed many evenings sitting round the dining room table and talking about all sorts of things. And they humoured Ros by playing cards with her! Though Dianna had a bit of a winning streak one night which was infuriating seeing that she had only just learned how to play the game!!
We have missed having them around and the invitation is open for them to visit us anytime they are in the area again. We really appreciate the gratitude they expressed to us throughout their stay and likewise we are grateful to them both for their contribution to our lives.
