  The three of us – José (68), (58) and Alessandra (36) – moved from Switzerland to Portugal a few years ago. We recently moved to a smaller quinta as we wanted to downsize. Naturally, there’s a lot of work to be done now, as we’re keen to create a little paradise once again. There’s nothing in the garden yet; we’re slowly sprucing up the grounds and much more. As we’re no longer the youngest and my husband has rheumatism, progress is naturally slow. It’s hard to find fellow countrymen, so it’s getting increasingly difficult. We have animals, such as cats, a dog, chickens and three horses that are no longer ridden. Our daughter Alessandra has a disability (Trisomy 21). We like to eat fresh produce from our own garden, which isn’t possible at the moment. We don’t eat meat very often. We live here in a very rural setting on 1.5 hectares and are always trying to connect more with nature. The three of us work more or less seven days a week in and on our little paradise, but without stress and with great joy. We produce our own olive oil. We are honest people who value respectful interaction and have no problem if the other person holds a different opinion. I think we are straightforward and open-minded.
  
  Wir drei, José (68J.), (58J.) und Alessandra (36J.) sind vor einigen Jahren aus der Schweiz nach Portugal ausgewandert. Vor kurzem sind wir auf eine kleinere Quinta umgezogen, da wir uns verkleinern wollten. Nun fällt natürlich sehr viel Arbeit an, da wir wieder einmal ein kleines Paradies gestalten möchten. Im Garten ist noch gar nichts, der Umschwung wird langsam verschönert u.v.m. Da wir ja nicht mehr die jüngsten sind und mein Mann Rheuma hat, geht es natürlich nur schleppend vorwärts. Landsleute findet man kaum, so wird es immer wie schwieriger. Wir haben Tiere, wie Katzen, einen Hund, Hühner und drei nicht mehr gerittene Pferde. Unsere Tochter Alessandra ist behindert (Trisomie 21). Wir ernähren uns gerne frisch vom eigenen Garten, was im Moment nicht möglich ist. Fleisch essen wir nicht so oft. Wir leben hier sehr ländlich auf 1,5 HA und versuchen uns immer wie mehr mit der Natur zu verbinden. Wir drei arbeiten mehr oder weniger 7 Tage die Woche in und an unserem Paradies, jedoch ohne Stress und mit viel Freude. Wir produzieren unser eigenes Olivenöl. Wir sind ehrliche Menschen und schätzen den respektvollen Umgang und haben kein Problem, wenn das Gegenüber eine andere Meinung vertritt. Ich denke wir sind unkompliziert und offen.

  Family atmosphere, healthy and mostly organic food, restaurant visits, board games. Enjoying the peace and quiet here and letting your mind wander. If someone is looking for a party scene, then this isn't the place for them. That said, our daughter loves to dance.
