Detalhes
Descrição
We are an eco resort located in Khao Sok, Surat Thani province in Thailand with a large, ongoing project which provides free environmental education camps to teach local children about the importance of taking care of our amazing natural surroundings here. Our team of facilitators also runs activities for our resort guests too, in order to make their stay with us more fun and educational.
We are located in a small village surrounded by national parks. Khao Sok is an ideal stop for jungle lovers! There are shops and restaurants nearby and we can give advice on visiting other tourist destinations in the region.Tipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Our camp is best suited for workawayers that have a genuine interest in environmental and outdoor education, and don't mind doing independent work as well as working with our other team members. We usually only have one volunteer at a time, and evenings can be very quiet.
What we can offer:
- The chance to see a successful community project that works to get local children more interested in taking care of their environment.
- An opportunity to spend time enjoying and learning about nature - via both relaxing time and more adventurous activities.
What we cannot offer:
- A highly sociable environment (we work hard and we need our personal space sometimes).
- Good weather (we are in the rainforest, after all!)Projetos que envolvem crianças
Este projeto pode envolver crianças. Para mais informações, veja aqui nossas diretrizes e dicas.
Ajuda
We are mostly looking for volunteers that come with previous experience of working with children, who would be confident to lead activities in English by themselves after shadowing another facilitator.
Typical duties include:
- Running nature-themed activities for families with young children (training provided)
- Helping with our educator team to plan and run weekend activities for local children
- Creating displays, signs or articles about the local flora and fauna
- Other tasks will depend on the experience and interests of each volunteer but may include computer work, teaching English and working in the garden
We take the safety of our campers very seriously, so please note that volunteers wanting to work with children are required to provide us with a criminal background check.
***UPDATE (JULY 2025)***
We have the following upcoming projects that require people with specific skills:
- Ongoing: maintenance work (especially with bamboo and wood) for skilled, independent workers only
- October: local camps with a range of hands-on activities for people passionate about working with children of all ages
- November: an exciting international school camp on a rafthouse for people with experience leading hiking, kayaking and/or caving activities
- December: on 20th December we have some students that will practice being guides for tourists. We would welcome volunteers to join in with some outdoor activities.
- January-February: more international school camps for people experienced in outdoor education (activities vary)Idiomas

Please note!
When you are here we will include you as one of our team and ask you to support with the tasks that we feel are most suitable based on your skills and our needs. This means that volunteer tasks are usually split between working with the resort guests and working at our kids' camp. Our financial model requires us to lead some paid activities, which helps us to run our free education for the community. We ask our volunteers to be flexible and understand that sometimes you will be asked to help with the "business" side of our operations as well as the community work.
The tropical environment in Khao Sok supports a lot of different life forms. You will probably encounter big spiders on a daily basis, be bothered by insects like mosquitoes and ants at times, and occasionally see snakes. We encourage people to see this as another part of the adventure, but if you don't think you can stay for a few weeks in these conditions then we might not be the best choice for your workaway stay.Mais alguns detalhes
