Descrição
Hi! We are a small international family living in the beautiful countryside of the Drôme in Southern France: Petra (32), Thibaud (32), our 11-month-old son Samuel, and our two cats Momo and Milo.
Petra is originally from Ecuador and Thibaud grew up between France and Germany. We lived in Germany for several years and recently moved to this beautiful and very rural part of France.
Petra is a warm, loving and cheerful person. She loves sports – especially bouldering at the moment – as well as animals, plants, dancing and laughing. Thibaud also loves climbing and being outdoors, practices and teaches Qigong, and is currently working on building his own business.
We enjoy an active life and being outside, but also value a peaceful home, good food and spending time together.
And then there is Samuel. :)
He is a very sweet, curious and incredibly energetic little boy. He loves exploring, moving around and being outside – and basically never stops! He had a somewhat difficult first year with digestive issues and sleep, which made the past months quite intense for us as a family. Fortunately, he is doing much better now. He eats quite well (although feeding him can still require some creativity and patience!) and is generally a very happy little boy.
Sleep is still a work in progress though, so our nights are often interrupted and we are currently rather sleep-deprived parents. This is one of the reasons why having another person around to share some of everyday family life would make a huge difference to us.
Since Petra is a native Spanish speaker, Spanish is an important part of our family life and we would especially love to welcome a Spanish-speaking person. It would be wonderful for Samuel to hear more Spanish naturally in his everyday life. -

Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado
We are a very international family, so cultural exchange is naturally part of our everyday life. Petra is from Ecuador, Thibaud grew up between France and Germany, and we now live in rural Southern France. Between us, we speak Spanish, French, German and English, and we are happy to help you practise any of these languages.
We would love to share everyday life with you – cooking and eating together, exchanging recipes and traditions, visiting local markets and villages, and showing you some of our favourite places in the Drôme. We would also be happy to take you along when we go bouldering, climbing or exploring the surrounding nature.
Thibaud practices and teaches Qigong and would be happy to share this with you if you are interested. Petra loves sports, dancing, plants and animals, and as an Ecuadorian she can also share her culture, food and Spanish language with you.
At the same time, we are very curious about other cultures ourselves. We would love to learn about your country, language, food and way of life – so if you enjoy cooking something from home, teaching us (and Samuel!) words in your language, sharing music or simply exchanging stories and perspectives, we would really enjoy that.
Since we have a small child, our everyday life is currently more family-oriented than adventurous nightlife :) But we hope to offer a warm home where you can experience both international family life and the slower rhythm of the French countryside. -

How you can help
We are mainly looking for someone who enjoys being around small children and would like to become part of our everyday family life for a while.
Your time with Samuel could include taking him for walks in the stroller, playing with him in his playroom or outside, pushing him on the swing, helping him eat, or simply spending time with him and accompanying him while he explores the world.
We would also appreciate help with normal everyday household tasks such as cooking, cleaning and tidying up.
We don't expect you to take over our household or be solely responsible for Samuel. The idea is much more to have another pair of hands around and share some of the things that currently fill our days.
Having this support would give Petra some breathing room and allow Thibaud to regularly have a few uninterrupted hours to work on building his business.
We are thinking of around 4 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, with 2 days off. We are quite flexible about how we organise those hours and would prefer to find a rhythm that works well for everyone rather than having a very rigid schedule.
Experience with babies or young children would of course be wonderful. More important to us, however, is that you genuinely like children, are patient and reliable, and feel comfortable spending time with a very active little boy.
We are looking for someone who could stay with us for approximately 2 to 6 months. -

We have one bathroom, which we all share.
We also have fast and reliable fiber internet, so studying, working online or video calling friends and family in your free time is no problem.

Where we live
We live in Escoulin, a tiny hamlet in the Drôme, surrounded by mountains, forests and beautiful countryside.
It is a very peaceful and quite remote place. There is a small river, the Gervanne, nearby where you can swim in summer, and the whole area is full of beautiful hiking trails and places to explore.
If you like climbing, this is also a fantastic area to live in. There are lots of outdoor climbing spots around us, and we regularly go bouldering or climbing ourselves. You would of course be very welcome to join us when it fits with everyone's plans.
Our home is an old stone house with a large garden and lots of space outside. It is a wonderful place if you enjoy nature, quietness and rural life.
At the same time, we want to be very transparent: we really do live in the countryside. There are no cafés, supermarkets or nightlife within walking distance. We normally do our shopping in Crest, which is about 30 minutes away by car.
So if you need city life around you every day, our home probably isn't the right place for you. But if the idea of spending a few months surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers and nature sounds exciting, you might love it here.
Getting around
Because of our location, having a driving licence would be a big advantage.
Most things here require a car. Our car can also be used during your free time after discussing it with us, so you can explore the region, go to Crest, go climbing or simply get out and do your own thing.
Food
Good food is important to us.
We eat pretty much everything, but we care a lot about the quality of what we eat. We buy organic whenever possible and especially enjoy buying fresh and local food from the markets around us.
We usually cook at home and are happy to eat together if you would like to. We would also love discovering dishes from your home country – and you are of course welcome to cook as well!
What you can experience here
Living with us would probably suit someone who enjoys a slower, nature-oriented way of life.
Depending on the season and what you enjoy, you can go hiking, swimming in the river, climbing, bouldering, explore the surrounding villages and markets, or simply spend time in our garden and enjoy the quiet.
We are also happy to share languages and cultures. Between us we speak French, German, Spanish and English, so there are plenty of opportunities for language exchange.
More than anything, we would like this to feel like sharing life together for a while rather than simply exchanging accommodation for a list of tasks.
Of course, everyone also needs their own space and independence, and we want your free time to really be your free time.
If you are kind, open-minded and reliable, enjoy spending time with children and nature, and the idea of experiencing life in a tiny corner of rural Southern France appeals to you, we would love to hear from you! -

We have fast and reliable fiber internet, and your private room has a small desk where you can work. There are also other places around the house and garden where you can work if you prefer. We are quite flexible about how we organize the 4 hours of help per day. If you work remotely, we can arrange the schedule together so that you have a reliable block of uninterrupted time for your own work – for example, helping us in the morning and having the rest of the day free, or the other way around. We understand that remote work sometimes comes with meetings or fixed working hours, so we are happy to discuss your needs beforehand and find an arrangement that works well for everyone. Our home is very quiet and surrounded by nature, which can be a lovely environment for focused work. At the same time, please keep in mind that we have an energetic 11-month-old baby, so the house itself is not always completely quiet during the day. :) If you enjoy working remotely while living somewhere peaceful and rural, with nature right outside the door, our place could be a great fit.
