Helpfully Jeanne took us last minute which was great and gave us the tour on arrival. We the majority of our time with Laura and Christophe who were the employees and just super people! We mainly received instructions from Laura and Christophe and our work was fairly varied.
We did the animals every morning, milking, feeding and watering and then
… read more were set to different tasks after that. It was interesting work, however it felt as though we were doing surplus work that was intended for paid employees. It wasn't so much a cultural exchange and not so much in the spirit of workaway although we did enjoy our time.
Laura kindly allowed us to swap work days so that we might go on a two day hike in the mountains and we often ate together and played games and we cant thank them enough for their hospitality and kindness.
We didn't have much to do with Jeanne as she had family staying however we were grateful that she offered us an opportunity to clean in exchange for payment. However I didn't find Jeanne someone i would particularly like to work for again. After subsequent stays at other farms, I realised that this particular experience was not one that was all that rewarding and I found Jeanne difficult to work for and not particularly sensitive to our needs, however i do understand she was preoccupied with family.

I spent 2 weeks in July with Jeanne.We had really good talks about permaculture, vegeterarism...She's a very cultivated and available person who create a paradise.
Thanks a lot to Laura and Christophe who are very nice and warm people to work with. They know a lot and take time to explain with great passion.Thanks to Lorda as well for her kindness

My stay at Jeanne's permaculture farm St Victor du Fau was of a relaxed and agreeable nature. The grounds are beautifully designed and it was a delight to see the first spring flowers bloom. … read more realized this project to an incredible extent in only 3 years of work. They are avid to explain everything going on and gave real sense to the work I was doing with them. It included planting, taking care of the animals, fencing, clearing the lawn of wood, weeding, a lot of tidying up and more. It was overall well varied and often interesting. I appreciated the employees Lorda and Regine as well, we had a great time together and there was a lot to learn from them. It was awesome to climb the rocks if Ariège with you! Jeanne too was always ready to share her knowledge about nutrition and I was happy to try a new way of eating.
It is a pity I will not see the aquaponics system in action, I will have to come back for that and many other things.
I will miss the beautiful landscape, the more or less friendly animals and the amazing humans!
I recommend to stay with a car, the location is rather isolated. You will be welcomed equally in English or French.

Jeanne kindly took us in at the last minute to host us as her first workawayers.
