  Small family with older teens and golden retriever living on Sunshine Coast in BC with views of Vancouver Island snow-capped mountains. Family interested in gardening plants and vegetables, music (classical, jazz and other), nature, photography and art.

  We are a family who have lived in UK, Ireland, Eastern Ontario and now BC. We are actually key involved in the community, specifically in music (orchestra, community band, choirs and singing). Two members of the family speak French as well as English. One family member works for the local health authority and another for the library. Lots of knowledge about how newcomers can get involved in the local community.

  The family speaks English. Two members of the family speak speak French. We are always interested in learning more about other languages. In particular, two members of the family sing classical music including Italian and German repertoire.

  Single or double room (depending upon availability) with shared bathroom and kitchen. Family usually fend for themselves with breakfast and lunch (except weekends when family sometimes does brunch together) and prepares meals together for evening. Relaxed atmosphere.

  Fabulous location with hiking, camping and canoeing not far away. Vancouver Island accessible by ferry. Powell River is a small community which can easily be accessed by bicycle, on foot and some public transport. There is a taxi service in town and a Zunga Bus which can be scheduled. The town has beach, recreation centre, restaurants and some stores. Not a shopping Mecca!! 3 second hand shops. There is a small movie theatre - one of the oldest in North America. Some local concerts with bands. Family member teaches singing and has musicians who come to home for singing group - Madrigals. Another two family members plays tenor saxophone and one is jazz fanatic. No smoking, no drugs but responsible alcohol ok.
