    Descrição

It's been a long time since any update (or I thought I did and forgot to save).
Finally, a very good year so far and once the season started - it still has to slow down. A very few soft days now before on again.
As it looks we're pretty covered with volunteers and help for now, but if you write - the worst that can happen is a "no - sorry".

The non profit campsite has a beautiful location by the Oslo fjord, approximately 1 hour on the bus from Oslo.

Being part of a non profit NGO I'm sorry to say there is no opportunities to give any payment.

It's about 13 acres large and has 500 meters shoreline, lots of fruit trees and other vegetation and a soccer field. It was originally built as a country side residence for a wealthy businessman from Oslo in 1887 and was founded as a campsite in 1941/42.

The help varies with the seasons and will consist of everything from gardening, painting indoors and outdoors, carpentry, tidying, organising, cleaning, generally maintenance and most important cooking for camps when they request food and cleaning (those are the main tasks - in the period March-October) :-)

The new year will bring painting and cleaning, maybe kitchen "demolition" and building new, a hunt for second hand bunk beds to paint in happy colours, camps and more.

In season there's mainly a schedule and routines to follow, though still with plenty of time to explore the nature around or visit Oslo. The help is partly independent (or with other helpers) off season and you make your own day. We usually make a list of work to be done, and you are sometimes free to pick out your preferences.

You are expected to keep all common areas clean and tidy to make the place be clean, tidy and welcoming for our guests, staff and other volunteers. It's important for everybody's well-being and to avoid small grudges about who's doing what. Maybe you find it off course, that's the way it should be, but over the years we've learnt that it needs to be emphasised:)

Apart from the regular tasks; cleaning, cooking and gardening -our wood buildings desperate needs some care and maintenance, are you a professional carpenter or master of masonry, I'll do my best to make space for you :-)
We are always looking for a carpenter that can do the job we don't know how to. There are lots of different buildings that need different care.

Our municipality is building all their plans on the UN sustainability goals.
We have picked 5 where we believe we can follow up with small steps "everybody can do something". We host camps for all communities, strive for the best experience of those who stay with us, help to build friendship across borders, waste management and regular beach clean and more.

We've been part of a program to reduce food waste, we hope that our volunteers will be aware in their stay. That's the minimum we can do for our environment.

The rooms are very basic, but kitchen and the rest is spacious.

We have wi-fi for volunteers to use.
You are also welcome to use our bicycles, boats, canoes, sup and kayaks to check out our beautiful surroundings. A pair of old cross country skis for the winter experience, always a fun challenge for beginners:-)

You are expected to keep all common areas clean and tidy to make the place be clean, tidy and welcoming for our guests, staff and other volunteers.

We need you to take initiative, be self- propelled, have the basic skills and understanding of practical tasks, take pride in the help that you offer, and of course- friendly:-)

We are privileged to have many people who'd like to stay with us, long-term is preferred.

We're looking forward to hearing from you!

    Best regards,

Marianna and husband changing into Ingrid and Tor Magnus with their boy in January
    2 dogs that goes in January, a cat, 2 goats, 10 hens and a rooster🐥 :-)

Internet is good, but sometimes you need to be able to focus on your work when using common areas as some camps are more loud than others.
