I am retired and live in a cosy timber cottage on 1.5 acres in a quiet, peaceful forested area, halfway between Bellingen & Coffs Harbour, 3 kms from surf beach & the Bellinger River. Nearby activities include bushwalking, horse riding, golf, bowls, rowing, sailing, snorkelling, diving. Many native birds & animals visit here.

You will certainly learn about the natural Australian environment including rainforest species, flora and fauna. You will see many colourful Australian birds, some of which are quite tame. I have previously worked as an English language teacher so can help you out there.

I need help with organic gardening, yard clearing, firewood collecting, and there's inside work if it rains. I'm also doing maintenance on my timber home so any help with landscaping, painting and carpentry would be appreciated..

Hiroki stayed with me for a few days and was very courteous and polite. He worked hard raking leaves and gathering branches after heavy winds. He also helped prepare dinners and did washing up. We had some interesting discussions and I'm glad he learnt some new English words. I wish him all the best in his travels.

I stayed with Carole for a couple of days.I had a great time there.She talked in an easy to understand way for me.I was so happy to see her.I wasn’t confident to speak in English before I met her.I started to like speaking in English after I met her.

Carole is a very gracious host who picked us up from the bus stop and gave us a sightseeing tour of the local area where we saw kangaroos and a couple of lovely view points looking out to sea where she goes whale watching.

I had been enjoying myself everyday while i was there. The weather wasn't sometimes good, but she brought me many many places. She is very easy going and gentle. And she taught me lots of OZ things :) it was only one week, but i had really nice time there. If you do workaway there, you might be able to see a variety of beautiful Australian birds.
