Help me to clean up my olive farm near Kallithea, Messenia, Greece .

Hello :)
My name is Georgios. Although born and raised in Athens, my roots are coming from an agricultural family from the area of Kalamata region.
A few years back, i undertook the supervision of the family farm consisted of nearly 2000 olive trees. After bringing the trees back in shape i have decided to focus on the quality of the koroneiki variety olive oil achieving awards in international competitions for quality.
Last year a team from workaway helped achieving this mission in one of the hardest years in the whole region. Thank you guys for all your help, our efforts were recognized internationally :)
This year things are looking good too at the moment all going well ☝️
Unfortunately, due to new very strict laws in Greece, for the harvesting season i cannot risk to take any volunteers for olive picking. So you can understand the situation, in case someone does not have a permit to work legally in Greece and is found by the authorities working in the farm, i can be penalized by 10.500€ per person that does not have the required papers. There are some grey areas in the law, im not willing to take such a disastrous risk until everything is clear...

On the other hand, little bit away from all the action going on these days , there is work to be done.

First we need to clean up the fields, clean branches that are cut from the trees, pile the woods, some maintenance works etc. Also we will are preparing pickled olives.
We are looking for patient, positive personalities who enjoy nature for 1-2 weeks, willing to help out.

Internet access is only by 4g without a good signal, meaning you need to go try and find a good spot to get good speeds.
Beach is nearby , if it is a good, warm and sunny day we will go spend a few hours on the beach and have a swim.

For Miklael i have so many good things to say together with the team he brought with him ( Sophia , Sebastian, Martina , Cedric and Emmanuelle ) .
From the… read more first day the he was always ready to work . He worked " overtime"since he was not satisfied with the teams work performance. I had given a quite difficult task for an experiment we needed to perform and i found him in the fields continuing to pick olives by hand after work was finished for everyone . the conditions were hard , the team performed very well for this quite demanding task , Mikael felt he could offer more and he did without me pushing at all , this left me a very positive first impression for him!
Then we had 4-5 days of continuous rain and we couldnt do much rather than sit and wait for a little bit of sunshine .... The team felt bad for doing very few things and not being able to help during that time and some decided to leave ( all were concerned and felt bad that they are just sitting and eating and couldnt do much - such sweethearts and very thoughtful of them ) .
Looking at the weather report , I informed the remaining 3 ( Michael , Sophia and Sebastian- they were the only ones that didnt need to leave the country) that there is an opportunity to work for a full day . Without a second thought they postponed their departure for a day and worked very hard, got in the tempo of my experienced crew and blended in perfectly for the whole 9 hours!!!
That day we made a record in quality and quantity of extra virgin olive oil , so statistics prove the whole team worked very efficiently and i had the material to work on the project ( iam trying to "extract"most of the health benefits Koroneiki monovariety has to offer) . The results speak for themselfs . Outstanding work guys , you really helped to keep the project alive , Bravo and Thank you !!!
I would highly recommend Mikael as he is a very nice person and a very hard worker. if any of the hosts are interested to have him help with their projects , he is interested to learn , understand what you are doing and always willing to help /work ! I would definitely like him to help again if he is nearby when help is needed . in the near future .
That day work started at 8am , we finished at 5 , then went to the olive mill at 9 and we were back at 1am . All these 3 workawyers had such an amazing energy that day , covered up for the rainy days lost and seemed ready to work even in the night!
In the morning , 6:30 am Victor gave them a ride to take the bus for their next destination . The team left the house in top condition , very clean as if nobody had been staying there .
My first workaway experience was EXCELLENT , I hope you guys had a great time and learned a few things about Extra Virgin Olive oil.
