  Hello, I am Yohun - welcome!
  
  I started my project back in 2007 with the idea to involve my village community more to a local tourism experience. Since then I developed our village and built the guesthouse , sitting beautifully in the hilltop of our small coffee garden, facing eastwards towards sunrise.
  
  Besides overnight stays, locally farmed coffee, tea and traditional Akha food, I offer tours through our village and a life museum, in which we show the traditional way of life of the Akha. As the mayor of our community I can offer you insights in the local life.
  
  The guesthouse is ready to house and shelter visitors for short and long amounts of time and there is lots to do. I have many different project on how to develop the place further, help is also very welcome in our garden and nearby coffee farm. There you can experience the beautiful but hard work behind your steamy cup of coffee.
  
  I live here with my family: Mother and father, my sisters and their children - there are also always the neighbouring kids running about and swimming in our pond. We are also happy if you wanna teach them conversational English.
  
  Our village is set in the beautiful hills near Doi Mae Salong, where with each turn of the serpentine road you'll discover new tea and coffee terraces and hilltop villages of different ethnic group, all way above the dust and hustle of the big towns. You can rent a motorbike and explore the hills by yourself or together with me.
  
  At the moment, we are especially looking for someone who has experience with, or is interested in helping to improve a water system in the village. We prefer a minimum 2 week stay — 2 week-1 month is perfect for us.
  
  Our volunteers typically wake up at 7:30am, have coffee/tea and we eat breakfast together. We start work between 8-8:30am. Depending on the projects I am working on, as well as the number of tours and/or guests staying at the Mudhouse, volunteers will work for 6-8 hours Monday-Saturday. We eat lunch between 12-1pm, and dinner is served between 6-7pm.

  You will have a close insight in our way of life, eat with us our food. I am always curious how things are done elsewhere. I studied some time abroad which opened up a vessel of new ideas.

  Ajuda

  I always have lots of projects and ideas going on and help is welcome in varies fields here. We can teach and help each other with:
  
  - improving watering system in the village
  - housekeeping
  - Social Media content
  - help in the coffee farm
  - reception help
  - gardening
  - conversational English
  
  These tasks will be done with me or my sister, she takes care of the coffee plantation.

  Acomodação

  We have simple, clean rooms with a double bed, own toilet and warm shower (also wifi reception).
  
  My family will provide food, we have approximate times to eat together but you can eat when you are hungry. There is always rice, meat and vegetarian food. Feel free to use the kitchen to cook for yourself or introduce the family to food from your country! :)

  The place is in the Akha village LorYo, 5km south of Doi Mae Salong. With a vehicle its about 34km (90 minutes) from Chiangrai. You can also come by public buses, from Chiangrai to Mae Chan and from there take a Songthaw to our place (currently twice a day 12/2025). Ask me for more infos about that. We might also plan a pick up in Mae Chan or Mae Salong. A Grab was around 500B last time used (11/2025).
