UPDATE: I am looking for workawayers to do a house, pet and garden sit while I will be in Portugal with the boys for the months of APRIL and MAY.
If you would like to spend beautiful spring in Switzerland and have a safe base to explore from please reach out. It would be so lovely to find nice people to stay here while we are gone :)
Also, we have to leave our farm, so people who will come to stay with us will help to bring the garden in good shape, clean the entire farmhouse and help us move into our camper van 😊 it is a bit different than usual but we are still as warm and happy and welcoming as always! Promise! ♥️
We are a family of 5 with 3 active boys, a small dog and two cats that keep us busy 😊 We live in the stunning country side of Switzerland close to the cities of Solothurn and Bern... in the Emmental...yes! Where the famous cheese comes from 🧀!!! We are always striving to live a more natural, offline, consumption free, earth loving live with less stress, less waste and less stuff.
As a family we finally realized our dream and in April 2019 we moved into a Farm house on an active Organic Biodiversity farm. The owner is a great guy who lives by the rules of creating a more variety rich environment and we are so happy to settle here now. The house is a wonderfully old iconic Swiss "Riegelhaus" next to an all wood main farm building. This picturesque scene is surrounded by lush and vast woodland, acres of wild flower meadows, free roaming chickens, a lot of birds and bats and insects, two wonderful farm gardens (ours is a no dig Permaculture one) and grazing Schottish Galloway cows.
I would love to get a personal message from you as a mother of 3 children as it is a privilege to open our house but I want to be safe and for people who want to stay with us to show a little extra effort. So if you really do read our Profile, please mention in your message what your favourite vegetarian/vegan dish is, and I will welcome you on your first day of workawaying with that dish!
I am super super happy to start a new project as our wonderful farmer Simon has just given me a large plot of land that I can now use to my hearts content. My dream of a self sufficiant Homestead life is becoming a step more real now and that is why I could really do with some help. I am also planning to maybe extend the garden again this year 🍀
Of course: There is also always normal life going on as well, especially with a big house like ours. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, regular garden work, preserving, baking bread, farm harvest season or whatever needs doing will also be part of our living experience together :)
Public transport is excellent in Switzerland (although a bit pricey) and I am more than happy to take you with us on outings if we go places. As I do not need you to work a lot or very strict hours, I am always happy for you to go and explore whenever you have free time. We will stay in continuous communication on what our needs are and work it out on the go 😊
Workawayers will have their own room and a private en suite Workawayers bathroom (old but private 😂 ) borrowed bikes (if we don't use them) and free shared meals with us (95% Vegan) 😊 If you prefer not to join the family meals, I kindly ask you to organize your own food. I can take you with me to the grocery store or the local farmers market where you can buy whatever you wish. We are mostly vegan but do not mind other lifestyle choices ❤️
(and of course we also provide WIFI, however: I would honestly appreciate if media consumption in our house is not your main priority! Especially around the children…)
We can usually only have two workawayers at the time, but in summer we have more options to host more people simultaneously and I also have more opportunities to work, share and exchange... so do contact me and ask, I really truly love and live the Workaway experience 😊

We can give you a very loving and open environment and you can learn about natural child raising, homeschooling or freeschooling, vegan cooking, music (my husband is in a band and I jodel, sing choir and opera and just generally love music), sewing, crafting, preserving, baking, Permaculture/no dig gardening, Biodiversity.
I love to spend time on our land and around our home or walking /hiking, geocaching, biking and taking trips around Switzerland and enjoy the breathtaking nature here 😊 Since we started a family I am also actively downsizing/minimizing waste and doing things ourselves (clothes, food, household products etc.) for 10 years now, have less - live more!

-Spend time with the kids and speak english or spanish or french to them (if you can 😜)
-Teaching and playing in a very free kind of way (freeschooling) and marking schoolwork
-Babysitting (occasionally when I need to work or you are very good with the children, however this is very dependable on the connection we make/the children make with you)
-Permaculture/no dig garden and acre and surrounding projects (like wood chopping, pond work, woodwork, weeding, planting, lawn mowing, watering or occasional heavy tasks can also arise)
-Housework (washing, cleaning, maybe cooking although that is usually my domain 😉 , preserving, handcrafts, food production)
-Walk and/or groom and cuddle our doggy and kitties 🐶 🐱
-Occasional farm help may arise as we always help our farmer Simon when he needs us

We are a trilingual (quadrolingual) family and especially the kids always benefit from english, spanish or french speaking Workawayers :)

Private room and bathroom for all workawayers to share or some flexible sleeping arrangements depending on the season. But I always strive to make everyone as comfortable as possible :)

I am more than happy to assist you with any trips you would like to do, drive you to the closest station if I have time. I am really flexible and helpful if you need my help with something we can always talk about it! There is so much to do in the immediate natural surrounding as well as in Switzerland as a country. So I am sure you will not get bored :D

A small to medium sized Camper could park in front of the house for about 2 weeks at a time. However we live on an active farm, with tractors, cows and pigs and everything so it is not a very quiet spot!
