  We are Thomas & Natalie and have been living at an altitude of 1000m in the Swiss mountains since 2011. Our small village has about 15 houses and the area is agricultural. We are on the south side of the mountains, so we can enjoy the sun even in winter. We appreciate the peace and quiet and the seclusion of our house. Our two daughters are already grown up and have already left the house. We are a very good community in the village, we all know each other by first name and help each other with lots of chores. The highlight is the Stockhorn half marathon at the end of July, the first drinks station is in our village. On this day, we have a barbecue in the evening and sit together for a long time.
  Natalie works as a teacher and Thomas works in IT. In her free time, Natalie loves playing the alphorn and Thomas the saxophone.
  We have a 2000 square meter plot of land, so there's always something to do. We grow vegetables in raised beds, but we also have lots of fruit trees. The workaway support can help us in the garden, learn how to make jam and process and preserve other foods. Of course, we would also be happy to receive other ideas.
  In our surroundings there are many hiking trails with wild streams that can be explored.
  The nearest train station (Därstetten) is 2.5 km away and 200 meters uphill. We still have a small moped from our daughter, this can be used up to the station if you want to go into the city of Bern, Thun or Interlaken.
  We would plan a first deployment for summer 2026.
  
  Wir sind Thomas & Natalie und leben seit 2011 auf 1000m Höhe in den Schweizer Bergen. Unser kleines Dorf hat ca. 15 Häuser und die Gegend ist landwirtschaftlich geprägt. Wir sind auf der Südseite der Berge, so dass wir auch im Winter die Sonne geniessen können. Wir schätzen die Ruhe und die Abgeschiedenheit unseres Hauses. Unsere beiden Töchter sind bereits erwachsen und haben das Haus bereits verlassen. Wir sind im Dorf eine sehr gute Gemeinschaft, wir kennen uns alle mit Vornamen und helfen uns bei vielen Arbeiten. Das Highlight ist Ende Juli der Stockhornhalbmarathon, die erste Getränkestation ist in unserem Dorf. An diesem Tag grillen wir dann noch am Abend und sitzen noch lange zusammen.
  Natalie arbeitet als Lehrerin und Thomas arbeitet in der Informatik. In der Freizeit spielt Natalie sehr gern Alphorn und Thomas Saxophone.
  Wir haben ein 2000qm grosses Grundstück, da gibt es immer zu tun. Wir bauen Gemüse in Hochbeeten an, haben aber auch viele Obstbäume. Der oder die workaway Unterstützung kann uns im Garten helfen, lernt wie man Konfitüre herstellt und andere Lebensmittel verarbeitet und haltbar macht. Wir würden uns natürlich auch über weitere Ideen freuen.
  In unserer Umgebung gibt es viele Wanderweg mit wilden Bächen, die erkundet werden können.
  Der nächste Bahnhof (Därstetten) ist 2.5km und 200 Höhenmeter entfernt. Wir haben noch ein kleines Moped von unserer Tochter, dies kann bis zum Bahnhof benutzt werden, wenn Du mal in die Stadt Bern, Thun oder Interlaken möchtest.
  Wir würden einen ersten Einsatz für Sommer 2026 planen.

  We can teach you a few words in our mother tongue, German. You will also gain an insight into how people live together in the mountains (the farmers are organized in an alpine cooperative, for example). Then it would be great if you are a bit musical. Natalie plays alphorn and Thomas plays alto saxophone and baritone saxophone.
  
  Wir können Dir einige Wörter in unserer Muttersprache Deutsch beibringen. Du erhälst auch Einblick in das Zusammenleben der Menschen im Gebirge (die Bauern sind z. B. in einer Alpgenossenschaft organisiert). Dann wäre es toll, wenn Du etwas musikalisch bist. Natalie spielt Alphorn und Thomas spielt Altsaxophone und Baritonsaxophone.

  Ajuda

  We would be very happy to receive support for gardening. We process vegetables and fruit. We make jam from the fruit, boil fruit and make juice from the wine. You are also welcome to help us with general housework.
  
  Wir würden uns über die Unterstützung für die Gartenarbeit sehr freuen. Wir verarbeiten Gemüse und auch Obst. Aus dem Obst machen wir Konfitüre, kochen auch Früchte ein und aus dem Wein stellen wir Saft her. Gern kannst Du uns auch bei der allgemeinen Hausarbeit unterstützen.

  Acomodação

  You will be accommodated in the former children's room. It has a bed, an armchair, a small table and an extra chair, wardrobe and mirror. A small television is also available (if you wish). With the two large windows you have a very nice view of the mountains and the valley (east and south side). You also have your own bathroom (see picture).
  
  Du wirst im ehemaligen Kinderzimmer untergebracht. Es hat ein Bett, einen Sessel, einen kleinen Tisch und einen extra Stuhl, Schrank und Spiegel. Ein kleiner Fernseher steht auch zur Verfügung (sofern Du das möchtest). Mit den zwei grossen Fenstern hast Du eine sehr schöne Aussicht auf die Berge und ins Tal (Ost- und Südseite). Du hast auch ein eigenes Bad (siehe Bild).

  In your free time you can go hiking (mountains and torrents), or simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The cities of Bern, Thun and Interlaken are easily accessible by train. Of course you are also welcome to visit them.
  
  In Deiner Freizeit kannst Du Wandern (Berge und Wildbäche), oder Dich bei uns einfach nur erholen und die Ruhe geniessen. Die Städte Bern, Thun und Interlaken sind mit dem Zug gut erreichbar. Diese kannst Du natürlich auch gern besuchen.
